We have to go back even for heavy Cruisers. The only BattleCruiser class buit in the last 40 years was the Kirov's!!! Everything else is on the CL, DD, FF level!! For some reason, the US navy decided to call a 5,600 ton ship a Frigate!!! (DLG... abolished in '75).

For China, the weren't a big maritime post-Dreadnought. So Imperial, KMT, PRC... Hell... we can make the Luda's a Heavy Cruiser if need be.
I do not think Imperial fleet even had an HC.
Aside from the Ting Yuen Class BB, it was LC, 1 DD class, and the rest even smaller.

Though they did try to place an order for 200 submarines, right before they where overthrown.

Jentschura, Jung, and Mickel (very authoritative) give the Chi-Yaun 2 8x3in guns (2440 tons). I'd say that puts it into the Heavy class of the time. Two ships of the class: Chih Yuan, and Ching Yuan.

In comparison, the Chiyoda mounted 10 4.7in guns on 2400 tons, and is listed as an "Armored Cruiser".

It's a good site (one of the few which covers Manchuoko's navy). What do you need from there? Names of Chinese ships?

That would help. How about classes, Tonnage and maybe main armament?

Nope, but I did manage to find some WW2 tech DDs and Subs used by the ROC. :D

How about post war too. The Foxtrots the PRC bought from the USSR would be electro's...

I need post imperial ship classes, DD or larger (and submarines).

That would be PLAN or Taiwanese fleets then. All the ships which the KMT had, which were not river gunboats, were the odds and ends of the imperial fleet - mostly small destroyers and cruisers of WW1 vintage (and earlier).

I'll get my gf to go through it with me later but I don't think there are any different classes for things larger than a destroyer not mentioned here (I read it through twice but may have misunderstood something):

http://www.battleships-cruisers.co.uk/chinese_navy.htm

Will do a list of PLAN ship classes, although their early approach to sea power was to build lots and lots of little ships to swarm an invasion fleet so there will be a gap of some time after WW2 before these ship classes were built. (Just to give you some idea of the state of the Chinese navy - the 4 Gordy class destroyers (Anshan class to the Chinese) were considered to be the most powerful in the PLA navy when acquired).

I've been to that site often. It's not comprehensive in at leat two areas:

The DD Chang Feng was changed to DD Yu Chang in 1918, Fu Po became Chen Yang (the Yamasemi after Japanese refloated in 1937), and Fei Hu became Tung An.

http://picpage7.tripod.com/newquest.html

Jentschura doesn't show an IJN Yamasemi, but shows a Kawasemi (Ex-Fungo) Builkt at Kawasaki for China, sunk 10/37 and refloated as Yamasemi.

I point this out because I think we're going to have to decide on how realistic we want it. Records at the differed in names, especially in the anglicization of Chinese and Japanese ship names.

There is another mention of a torpedo boat Fukuryu, Ex-Fulung, built at Kiel. for China.

Does any of you have Conway´s all the worlds ships 1922-1947 and/or 1948-present? It should have what you need.

Conway's is good, but no where near as comrehensive as specialzed publications. I generally go by by the "Design" series NIP (Naval Institute Press) for the US ships. For Japanese vessels "Warships of the Imperial Japanese Navy" Also by NIP, as well as Conways, Janes, and a number of others. And still... you learn things that aren't covered in any of them. :D

Excellent.

I need ROC as well.

Would the Hunt class be to small to be a DD?

Foxtrots might be too advanced:
SS slot 5 - US class Tang, Soviet Whiskey, Project 613 - PLAN built Whiskey
SS slot 6 - US class Barbel, Soviet Romeo, Type 033 - PLAN built Romeo
