A guy with a german name playing the french... I find this highly suspicious :D

but good. love ya guys :D

Shall I have the honour of commenting myself first?

The game played was started with a patch way before gold, so several things descriped in the AAR have changed. Especially things related to historicity (i.e. scenario setups) and many AI behaviour is loaded when a game is started and won't change later on if continuing a game. So there's little point in commenting on them that much.

Is there any paticular reason why alot of the images wont show up. Specifically the screenies showing units ?

PS. Very nice AAR.

Great AAR, very well done.

Very interesting AAR indeed.:)

hmmm...Poor Grosshaus...after all that work then being defeted like that... :D
Thanks for the AAR it sounds like you really have to decide what course to take right from the beginnig...

Great AAR, Grosshaus. It's nice to see Germany slap France around a bit.

In Grenoble a German assault was eventually blocked by our mountaineers, it's clear from their troop buildup that it won't be the last attempt. 1ère Armée was sent to reinforce the Italian front.

Were the German forces that took Grenoble part of a German expeditionary force sent to aid Italy, or did they just march through Italy on their way to the southern flank?

Very nice AAR. It was good to see a French player in a 1936 campaign lose to the AI. My heart sank when he stopped the Germans in the Netherlands, thinking that the AI was just being too tentative. But they just chose an alternate path.

Although I wonder if Grosshaus would have fared better if he hadn't devoted so much time and resources to Republican Spain... :p

There was a lot to be pleased about - the Japanese stalling out in China due to the pressures of occupying what they have, France almost ruining their relations with the UK by intervening in Spain, trade becoming harder after war breaks out - so many things to be happy about.

Overall, looks good. I'm especially intrigued with the improved diplomacy options.

Just noticed something, the sprites look much better in these shots than in the demo. Will the final sprites be the size they were in the AAR?

great AAR!

how did you handle the annexation nationalist Spain and give back land to Republicans?

Yeah, I wondered on that too. Was it a part of the game mechanics?

My guess is that he swapped all the Nationalist provinces he annexed in exchange for Spanish Morocco. Holding those Spanish provinces probably would be more trouble than they're worth, in any case.

He was allied to them, wasn't he? Giving national provinces back to your allies after an annexation was an automatic process in HoI 1 already, IIRC. The takeover of North Africa was probably per event, but that's just a guess.

IIRC an event doing just that was in HOI 1 (i dont know wether it was vanilla or with CORE).

Argh, just read the entire AAR, it makes me want the game about a bazillion times more.....

It whet my appetite for HOI2, but only in the way a single donut will satisfy Homer Simpson... especially so with the 'cliffhanger' which ended (?) the AAR after France has fallen.

Grosshaus, impressive effort, you kept them fighting in France for an entire year, you made them actually pay for it in blood.
