I guess if it is an ISP firewall you could maybe pay extra for it (I am unaware of the common policy) ... If it is a university firewall you are pretty hopeless.:(

Anyway, you can still play, just not host.

Updated.

But if anyone can see any mistakes or missing information please let me know so I can rectify the guide.

Thanks and Bravo Mower !

But here is my issue :
after getting Eu2 I ran the last patch available on the paradoxe site , known as EU2_1.07_French_Update_030327. And then i bravely attempt to join my first online game...with noother explaination I was definitively rejected because my version was not compatible! After further investigations I discovered that the version in use by the multiplayers I tried to play with was an unfindable 1.07 Beta 11 version (dated may 11th) .

Am I supposed to get that ghost version ?
Where can I find it ?

And by the way is there any fully upadated version of your "guideline for newbies interrested in multiplayers gaming"

Thanks for your prompt reply
How can

You might want to have a look at the French forum where most MP players are still playing with 1.07.

Pauses for everyone, which causes it to be frowned upon :D

I wonder (as a n00b who has never played MP), who on Earth decides what game speed is to be used? I mean some times you need very slow to lay plans, and sometimes nothing happens and you need to speed things up a bit, but its never the same for the different countries! I wouldn't like some guy changing my speed!

I think the lowest speed everybody can agree on is used.

Thank you! These things are really nice to know! Keep up the good work!:) :) :)

Ok, this can't be stressed enough, but some players still have this very stupid behaviour in mp games of taking a massive amount of loans as soon as war breaks out. DON'T DO IT!
This is a surefire way of completely running your country into the ground. You will never be able to repay the loans and bankruptcy after bankruptcy will be the result, as well as the fact that you're effectively ruining the game for the other players in the process.

When this has happened in a game, some poor guy will usually have to take time off to edit the country in question into a playable state again. It's simply a stupid and cheesy short-term strategy that is nothing but disrespectful to the other players.

There, done venting for now :) go have a fun mp game.. but no taking massive loans ya hear?

Well only the host can change the speed. MP does not run at a fast pace, yet at the same time the years do seem to just tick by.

After this weekends Tsunami I would be in favour of setting very strict rules on Economy and banning anyone from the game who breaks them.

Not only does it ruin the country that takes the loans, but it also ruins those around you because the people you are fighting against often have their country devastated by your loan fuelled armies...

I would take a loan depending on whether I am a small poor country which has to defend myself against bigger aggressors.
Desperation made nations take loans, it's kinda roleplay. ;)

If I am playing a superpower, I would not take loans in such a situation.

If ALT-tabbing out of the game disturbs the multiplayergame - then how do you use for example ICQ? To access it and type a message there you would need to get EU2 in the background or is there some other way?

In normal circumstances you don´t use ICQ while ingame. You use the game´s own chat program. You just hit "tab" and then you can choose to whom you want to write your messages. You can send messages to all players simultaneously, individual players, your allies or your enemies respectively.

You only use ICQ in rare situations such as when someone has crashed and wants to rejoin etc. In that case you tab for a moment, type in your message to the guy and then tab back into the game - normally this won´t be a problem for the program.
