In six months most likely the majority of HoI2 players will be those whose PCs can't run HoI3. I still have hope that someone will do a good expansion with the source code once the final 1.3 patch is released though.
My thoughts exactly. As to the new patch, well the current 0.4.0 release is designed for the 1.3b2 patch. As far as I understand there will be little difference between 1.3b2 and the final 1.3 patch.
I'll be finishing Fallout's Doomsday mod. I've sunk too much time into to leave it dangling. Don't know exactly when it will be at a level that it's time to say "enough, project closed". That day must come, of course.
I think there are lots of wonderful mods for HOI2. I expect the vast majority of HOI players to switch to HOI3. But I think that some people will still come back to HOI2 for a particular mod they like.
I sincerely hope HOI3 is wonderful, polished and successful. But there's always a chance it could need some further work, and that might push players back to HOI2.
Fallout's Doomsday is not a WW2 mod and it's not there to fix perceived issues in HOI2. It's a science fiction apocalyptic mod, completely overhauling the normal. It would please me greatly if players still used HOI2 and the mod for a unique gaming experience.

I think I'll switch to hoi3 not until it has been out some time when the initial product will most likely have been undergoing various adjustments or improvements like has been the case with previous Paradox titles. (IIRC practically every early version of Pdox games was kind of overhauled after release due to the community's feedback, suggestions, demands etc) So I consider getting it not before a 1st patch is out. But who knows maybe this one will be great right away without major updates?
my current pc sint able to play hoi3 and I have decided to wwait until january before I buy a new pc - you tend to get good stuff for easy money at that time. Half a year should be fine to have them make the first patches, minor mods etc. I remember the first year with hoi2 hoi2dd and hoi2Arma....It was sometimes really irritating - crashes, patches when you had a grand game running etc - very nice to play the game early but a bit like being a testpilot for the first rocket planes - the sobering smell of smoke as you switch on the engines, rumbling that makes your guts sing halleluja etc - so ill beat down the childish urge to play it the first day and wait those six months...

i agree! i want to use cheats and edit stuff. they should just kept it the same and added the little party things and also made new liberatied nations
Exactly!!! Hopefully it will be fixed in an expansion. Really hope that. If not this may be the last Paradox game i buy. Eu3 = Not good, EU Rome = Awfull. HoI3 thisfar = Dissapointment.
well im not going to buy it untill an expansion pack comes out or something is added
After giving the demo a second chance i have to say: The only bad thing with hoi3 is that you can't see other nations minister. THat's the only thing½!

Many people will convert to HoI3. But there will always be people who will play HoI2, and many more who will remember the great times they had with this game and its mods.
i will wait whit buying it right after it cames out, i will wait some months (after i bought a better pc and hoi3 is cheaper)
I'll will finish the Kaiserreich mod before I switch to HOI3! But I won't convert Kaiserreich to HOI3!
Wonder who will take that responsebility. Hopefully someone will. Else maybe i will have to give it a try.
