Harry Turtledove wrote an alternate history series entitiled "The Great War" along with a prequal and an ensuing series of sequals. The premise of these novels is that the South won the American Civil war due to British and French intervention and a victory at Gettysburg. He manages to illustrate his point quite well. The U.S. later engages in a second war (during the 1880s) , due to the Confederacy carving a chunk off of mexico and constructing their own intercontinental railroad. The U.S. loses again due to a british invasion from canada. Thus reeling from two consecutive defeats the United States felt she was denied her place in the sun. When world war 1 came around the US was part of the German/AH Alliance opposing the quadruple entente. (Britain France CS and Russia)

I know this may be quite a bit premature as TGW is reportedly six months away from the begining of Beta. But there shouldn't be terribly many changes from the origonal TGW. I would recommend someone who has read the books and actually can program HoI as i am two weeks away from starting the tenth grade. To take it from here but here would be my suggestions.

1. The main opposition party in the US is the socialists (controlling about 1/3 of congress) lagging far behind the Democrats, TR should be the overwhelming choice for US presidency while the socialist candidate should be Senator Debs.

2. The main opposition party in the confederate states is the "radical-liberals" while neither too radical or too liberal they are popular in the more hispanic confederate states (Cuba, Sonora, Chihuahua) Woodrow Wilson shouldbe the southern political candidate followed by one Mr. Ango.

3. The confederates should possess all of the origonal southern states plus Kentuc.ky (louiville i believe is the name of the provence) Oklahoma, Chihuahua both cuban provinces and the mexican provence corrosponding with sonora.

4. Hawii is british, Alaska is Russian

5. De facto US Capital is Phillidalphia thouth though the de jure one remains Washington DC.

Thank you for reading i really hope someone pics up this idea.

I suspect that once the main TGW mod is finished, with all the unit models, techs, and ministers and leaders for all the other countries in the world, then simply changing the USA files and adding a CSA file will be simplicity itself...

(for somebody who's read the books, anyway. I gave up after the first)

There was one in construction (c. 10 pages long or so), but it seems to have died off. There is a map + some files downloadable though (CSA ministers etc)

I believe we have a way to go before we even start considering Branching off to different points of the game.

Oh thank you...I think I ought to take a bow :D

It seems the American Empire mod project is completely dead. There was one guy who took up the project in June, but I haven't been able to reach him since. I agree that a Turtledove mod would be better placed in the Great War era. Perhaps after the Great War mod is finished?

I do believe that this game isn't even in beta yet, it shouldn't even be considered till the task at hand is done.

Ahhh, but I want an American Empire mod NOW!

Well, it is unlikely your going to get one for quite awhile.

can't wait for the mod to be finished ( great war mod, not turtledoves version ).

Perhaps you'd like to contribute in some way? Then the mod will be done quicker ;)
