Game: 800x600
Memory 256 MB (RAM) otherwise 120 GB
I have managed to play with only minor hangups now with the CPU downgraded. But the Mishaps do occur every third year in the game. Everything stops for a minute and then keeps going....

I would say there is a better solution we just need to find the right combo.
First I would set the ingame resolution to match your screen setting. or try setting both to 1024x768.
After trying that, you can turn doen the acceleration on your graphics and sound cards. I think this would work better than downgrading the whole system. You can experiment with different settings, try completely off then take it up a notch at a time.
