Do the batteries need charging/changed?

Turn off anything running in the background, such as virus protection, ICQ/messanger ...

This is very strange, I think it is a copy protection problem.
Who is the publisher and distributer of your version? Their logo should be on the CD.

SF does not make a UK version.
Tell me the three logos that are on the CD?

You bought it in a retail store in Austria?
Did it come with a manual or just a jewel case?

If it is not a retail version what is it?

Start-Run- then type dxdiag, then save to file then post the results here.

Everything looks okay, Are you having trouble with the mouse in any other programs?
Do you have another mouse you can try, so we can see if it is the mouse that is causing the problem or if it is just a symptom.

Sounds like a general slow down then.
Defrag your drives.

How often do you have auto save set to? That would account for the slow down while the game saves itself.

I really don't think the source problem is with the mouse, but you could try it.

You may also want to try reducing the acceleration on your video card.

You seam to have two Audio cards installed?
Which one do you use?

As you said i think its unavoidable. Do you think its a problem??

First time i have started direct x diagnose the system shows me an "error"
i cant really remember but it shows something about direct 3d ...some problems occures or something about " it cant be tested."

But when i run it now again there is no such a massage?!?!?!?!
That's pretty important info to leave out of a discussion on support issue don't you think. ;)

I would do a fresh install of DirectX 9.0b.
And I would disable the on board Audio since two sound devices can cause conflicts.

After reinstall, runn all the tests for sound and graphics, then let me know the details of any errors you get.

Okay you are at DirectX 8.1 now upgrade to 9.0b and run the tests again.

Did you install 9.0b or just 9.0?

THat was a public beta version IIRC.

Okay let me know.

Okay keep me updated.

You also need it to install the patches.
