Greetings!

I have bought russificed (shit happens) version of the CK game which is told to be "english".

My problem is that I can't get on with installation as I can't read THIS page.

I've been trying to enter everything I see on the documentation, still no success.

Could anyone help me out if you had similar installation sequence?

thanks in advance,
binTravkin

The problem is the Russian version has security checks to make sure it is only being played in Russia.

Such as you have to have the Russian version of windows installed.

This is because the Russian version is sold so cheap and is intended for the Russian market only.

So it is not supported outside of Russia.

Fuck, but it's the only version at the stores in Latvia.

I'd be ready to pay much more If I see European version anywhere.

I'll go to the store and get my money back.

If it isn´t told in the box cover that you need the Russian Windows and such then you should have no problems getting your money back, if not from the store then from the publisher.

Have you tried purchasing the game directly from Paradox via internet?

The Russian version should be clearly marked for sale only in Russia.
Atleasst HOI was that way.

Nope, and I won't due to internet instability.
I've heard on-demand downloads may interrupt and you get no game.

Actually I'll go to the store later and ask for them to show howto install it (I think they have russian windows there).
The problem only lies in that window asking for something I can't read.
I hope I won't have to install russian windows though.

Cover only says "you need Win NT/2000/XP and russian language support to run installation".

I have 2000 and I have the support and no success.

Well I am pretty sure you are pirating the game if you use that version outside of Russia.

Regarding the buying it from the internet, On demend version.
1) You can Download it as many times as you like so if your connection cuts off, then you just start downloading it again. And if for some reason you cannot download it, you would get a refund.

You can also buy the "real-thing", i.e. order the game box with the CD to be shipped to you from E-Butik instead of the Paradox-on-Demand thing if you worry about internet instability.

Not me, the store which sold it to me.

I'll try getting a hint on this from store if I still don't succeed, I'll probably buy online.

Nice thing eh, you pay $5 (sale price) for game and then you need $50 more for russian windows. Looks cheaper now online.

Heh, sorted that out by setting my default locale to Russia.

Thanks for your effort anyway!:)

Thing is you are still a pirate. If you buy a pirate copy from someone (usually a a cheaper price as a result) then you are still a pirate.

Well, I've been pirating things for a very long time now (downloading via DC++) but this is one of the least pirating ones as the CD cover appears to have all appropriate codes and license approval signs on it.

Actually I don't really believe that companies 1C and snowball.ru are allowed to distribute piratic copies all over Russia.
They're making their own (russificed) version of every second game.
If all that is considered "pirate" then this must be one of the biggest pirating cases in the world.
I can bet they're outputting several million piratical CDs per year if what you say is true and they're sold at stores all across former USSR and sold "under license", not at any backyard store.

It operates under a software lic.
You are violating the terms of that lic.

As far as I know Snowball is allowed to distribute russified version of the game in Russia for a price that is cheaper than elsewhere. You bought yours outside Russia so it isn´t legal.

I will have to think about this.

Man, there are thousands of goods which are made for Russia under more or less strict rules and which all get distributed not only in former USSR but even further, especially in Asia!
And with manufacturer companies and governments knowing that!

If I bought something in a licensed store which operates according to my country's rules and moreover whose most software goods are exactly for distributing in Russia and still noone (meaning all the controlling institutions which are really numberous and harsh in Latvia) gives a shit about it even though it's the biggest software seller in country, I don't feel as pirating at all.

Moreover the fact that there is no other type of the game in any of the stores (and I mean it as I often search for things in them) leaves me almost no choice but buy it.

I could buy it online but don't have PayPal account and dont bother earning one.

The thing is like I mentioned it is only licenced for use in Russia.
If you want to violate that licence, that is up to you.

If you want to violate that licence, that is up to you.

Well, I am violating so much licenses routinely (Microsoft ones especially) that violating a license by actually paying the price Russians pay for it is not any kind of piratism for me and I do not feel like paying 5 times the price for the same good just because my yearly income is some 10% bigger than for a similar Russian person and I live some 300km to the West from him.

If someone is violating something than it's Russia by having these exclusive rights to buy many things at lower price (1C and snowball.ru are one of the biggest software distributors and localisers in Russia).

Give me equality and I will give you legally paid $25 (IIRC that was the price online).

If you want to blame me, in the name of Paradox Entertainment, of stealing their product, blame themselves for giving such a contract to Snowball.
