Yeah, Jas,
Look at the 'Memory Leak' thread in this section, which is an extension of a few other discussions of this problem over the last month that the European players have already seen. It probably is a thing that can be overcome simply by bludgeoning it to death through the blunt instrument of some extra RAM. Extra RAM is obviously not the ONLY problem, but it may be a saving grace. See my post under TRD's other thread on this same subject in this same section...
It is also certain that there are some quirks to the American release that are not in the European versions, but this MEM/jerky issue is NOT unique. I have not done it yet, but maybe will next week reduce the slowest machine I have to 64 megs and see what it does. Right now 128s run the game great, and the 256 runs it great. I think I will also see if I fire enough of the resident programs up if it will screw up. I have one sneaking suspicion as I comb through all these posts though... The more often I see GEForce and ATI vid cards, and 'Live' soundcards, the more often I see problems. This may simply be a random result, and perhaps our 'EU-Jerky' will end up being a condition where there are user-machine mem limits set to some wack-ball setting and no real 'beef' at all. <g>
