After playing "conquer the world" with the French and the Russians in my first two GCs, I switched to England (Hard/Aggressive) to play a diplomatic game.
I decided to help my German brethren achieve political unity and accordingly lavished my hard-earned ducats on nine of the states with the result being that all had a +200 towards me and Klese, Hessen, Hanover, and Brandenburg had been vassalized and were in a military alliance (as an aside, with all due respect to Huszics, you can NOT get more than four countries in an alliance. Or at least the odds are so great that it makes no practical difference. As an experiment, after some earlier frustrations, I tried to get Saxony to join the aforementioned alliance. Her relationship was +200, and the only thing in her alliance field was her RM to me. Twenty times in a row I tried and reloaded - no dice.).
So along comes 1520 and Henry VIII gets elected Holy Roman Emperor! Oh, the irony. I guess I'll hold off on that Anglican church...
Anyway, my question: is there any tangible benefit to being the HRE besides running your troops up and down the member states?
Thanking you in advance...
