Japan Session III

As agreed with Axis, Japan invaded invaded India May 1 1940. Invading from Sinkiang and Yunnan provinces. The Japanese found almost no resistance and conquered it easily, however not all was easy. Except for the small island of Sri Lanka. IT was heavily fortified and virtually inpenetrable. Many Japanese lives were lost on numerous attempts to invade it.

Japan session IV

The Emperor seeing its invasions of Sri Lanka beaten off, ordered preperations for invading other British possessions in the East. As Axis friends succesfully invade the Sovjet Union, Japan launched and attack 1oct 1941 in order to help cripple the Sovjet War machine. 1 dec 1941 Japan Launched its main attack. Attack Singapore, Hong Kong, Serawak provinces, and tired of US pressure it invaded Phillipines and several USA islands in the Pacific.
Waiting for the Germans, now Japanese allies as Japan joined the Axis Alliance, the Japanese forces ready and waiting, in a joined strike to invade the Netherlands and their possessions in south-east Asia.

Japanese empire took easy possesion of the Sovjet far East, meeting up with Hungarian forces and destroying at least 19 Russian div. , and now together enclosing Tanu Tavvu and Mongolian and scattered Sovjet forces. Hong Kong, Singapore and Philipinnes, and Serawak was Easily conquered. After a slight coordination delay Dutch colonies islands Java, Sumatra and Celebes was taken. Forces are now spreading to Serawak invading from the former English possessions, and preperations are being made to invade the smaller Islands. Also Japanese forces have set footh on Dutch New-Guinee, however has suffered losses encountering remnants of French Navy. The island is full of Australian/New-Sealand troops and Invasion is stalled for the moment.

In mid januari 1942 due to a communication failure Japanese navy suffered a tremendous defeat in the Midland Island area. Japanese High Command never knew what happened. The Admirals are still questioning survivors as escaping Ships return to Japanese mainland harbors. It is certain a bulk of firepower has been lost as many BB's and Cv's were destroyed during the communication black-out.

Japanese High Command has increased Air missions above the Pacific, and is drawing up plans to a new Naval Strategy in the Pacific to counter USA incursions.

The axis war plan for the attack for soviet union was
that germany would concentrate his armored divisions at romainian front. Spain would try to break through at the caucuses
front. Hungary would attack central asia and Italy would take the baltic front.

To be able to help germany a big land army had been built up. At the start of invasion Italy had the worlds third largest army but lacking armored divisions. Only 4 divisions had been built, but italien army had some mobility due 17 motorized infantry. At a visit to the german headquarter just after the invasion it was seen soviets had placed many divisions on the baltic front. It was only front with soviet armor directly at the front. Tactical bombers planes were sent to attack these formations, and they saw around 12 soviet tanks divisions. Since the italian army lacked anti tanks weapons assitance from germany was requested and german armor arrived to assist. A soviet tank offensive was greatly feared by italian high command.

In the south and center german and romanian forces had launched a massive attack and were pushing the soviets back towards kiev. The soviet tanks were redeployed from the baltic front and sent to fight the german attualt in the south. with soviet tanks gone and german armor assitance an offensive was sent in motion. The initial advance to Daugava river went very well. Efforts to cross the river meet in failure and therefor the decision was taken together with german high command to take up positions along the river and push east torwards Smolensk. In kiev large soviet division were defending the city and hope was break through in this area could cut them off. Together with german forces smolensk was taken, but after a massive soviet counterattack Moglie and Smolensk was lost. After the last soviet offensive the baltic front became stable for the vinter. A few attacks across the Daugava river was tried, but not successfull. In the end of februar fighters planes patrolling the skies above estonia saw that beaches were not
defended. Germany has therefore landed a strong force in estonia and hope is that it can cause a route in soviets defenders along the Daugava river. The italian forces stand ready to attack.

After the witdrawel from aftica a small part of italian army had been positied in egypt to defend countrys nearly won indepence from great britain. Italy also had granted freedom to other nations in africa, but it was not possible to defend them from british aggression. British and commenwealth forces were attacking east africa and great britain had landed a large force in arabic peninsula. Since egypt was very poorly defended at this point some forces from russian front were redeploy to egypt. All new divisions were sent there. Luckily the spanish offensive across the caucuses had been successfull. This allowed spain to send forces to the middle east. A large british army (around 20 divisions) had dug in the saudi province Jiddah. A request from spain to land behind the british forces was sent to the italian high command. Since the italian forces in egypt were quite weak at this moment, the decision was
taken to pull the forces out of egypt and take 12 divisions to land behind the british. The landing behind the british went without problems and together with spain around 20 british divisions were forced to surrender. British forces were attacking into egypt and took it. Large part of the british army is egypt area and heavy fighting currently there.

Italian army is still intact after the heavy fighting in russia, but the available manpower is running low.

Nice update.

Nice to see an attack in the south of the USSR, instead of the same old middle-north approach. Hope your tactics will work, and try to set some more nations free if you can. The Axis should be able to win this one, i hope.

And whoever has taken this screenshot is in big IC problem.

Liberating

Yes the plan was to liberate ukraine immediately, but he has a strong grip on kiev. It was surrounded a short while and we tried to storm it but failed, and shortly after the siege was lifted by some 80 nearby soviet divisions. Belarussia could have been liberated at one point but i was doubtful about it and the opportunity slipped away.

German AAR 22 june 1941 - 22 feb 1942

On evening of 22 june 1941 the biggest artillerybarrage the world had ever seen was started. All along the sovietborder this "fireworks for the gods" could be seen, it was followed by tanks, trucks, bombers and men penetrating the border at many locations. Almost every motorized and armored division germany could bring up at the time set out eastward from romania and hungary into the plains of ukraine.

The soviet defence was caught off guard but most of them succeded in running back to more stabile lines around kiev.. The town was crowded with soldiers who had seen the onslaught and survived, 60 div was at one time seen in the city by the german airreconteams. All of ukraine but kiev was taken and a few armored and motorized divisions was sent out on a race to the caspic sea and stalingrad with the purpose of threathening the soviet caucasusfronts supply.
Huge redeployments was made both from the soviet baltic and caucasusfronts to counter this offensive. Only a few soviet divisions was captured and the führer was furious, however the soviet defences was totally thrown on its back on this part of the front and its armies was in chaos.

The front that made most progress was the hungarian/persian front, few soviet div. was placed there and they where easily beaten back by General Attis forces. Hitler began to understand that the operation would be a succes in september and quickly claimed to be the founder of the plan. (altough military leaders know that it was drawn up by german general R2-D2 and general Malik from the italian high command)

The units that have seen the most vicious fighting is probably the italian baltic front. They met stiff resistance in the form of huge soviet tankformations. It is clear that stalin expected that the mainattack would come here... german reserves was called in immediately after we realized the size of major mobile force that stood ready there by the border.
But after some weeks intelligencereports showed that the tanks had been ordered to other more threatened sectors, and the advance began.
Huge counterattacks was made later in that year throwing both italians and germans back from smolensk and the luftwaffe had to flee several times from the vital airfield nearby. But since estonia is captured now riga will probably be avacuated soon by soviet and we can tighten our grip on soviet even more.

The german armies are now holding their ground in feb 1942 and awaiting the spring and more suitable weather for offensive operations. The only major succesfull german operation this winter being the amphibious landing in estonia. It was done to once and for all break the soviet riverdefence by riga.
Covered by navalbombers the operation resulted in sinking some soviet submarines that had been ordered out of their lair to stop the operation.

The spanish offensive in the caucasus was also a succes. After beating back the soviet defence there at the same time as german division threatened to cut them of they where also redeploy to safer ground. So now the soviets are holding a strip of land with leningrad kiev and moskow as the cornerstones.

In the west there has been no sign of allied attempts to invade europe, should they do so german has 100+ div standing ready to welcome them..

The victory is close says the fuhrer and expects the rotten soviet state to collapse totally later this summer.

Wow - nice AAR :D
Seems like a really interesting game sofar - at least one where the Axis isn't doomed right from the start.

1. What exactly are the allies doing?
(UK, USA + Kanada should have have a very considerable amount of IC and troops at their disposal by now?!)
-> Is there any chance that they can/would do something to keep the Russian from beeing defeatet? (Anything from sending supplies to sendig troops or even doing an invasion to divert axis forces and take pressure from the Russian?)

2. Axis should feel the manpower drain and TC load by now?

I am really looking forward to the full story once the game is over and "top secret" details (force composition, research and building plans, blunders, strategies etc.) will be revealed!

the allies

Well one reasón for the unusuall axis succes so far can be explained with that ai took care of soviet until 1 jan 39 according to the new rules and that they had only 305 div by 22 june 1941 (max 300 according to rules). This is why the hcgroup has been able to have the FIRST EVER exciting multiplayergame, and for that were proud and happy. The next game will probably be even more exciting and even!! Not that this game has been finished yet, far from it.

Too bad paradox couldnt work out a good multiplayerfix.. In my opinion its useless and lame to play with no restrictions for the allies(uk,soviet, usa).

I found the game where I was japan to be a little more exciting...but that might have just been because I was cruising around the world doing exciting stuff. Anyhow we should achieve a nice balance for our next game. Seriously, really really look foreward to the next new games aar.

Nationalist Spain june 1941 - feb 1942

Nationalist Spain

The armed forces of Spain have been involved in virtually every theater of active conflict of the entire war. Spanish troop experience is unrivaled even by the mighty Whermacht, one Spanish mountain division has seen action in, Spanish civil war, north Africa around Dakar, South Africa around Elizabethville, Turkey against the Soviet Union, and now they are one province from Moscow exp(39).
Spanish troops assisted by some Romanian forces broke through the Caucasus Mountains on their first major offensive. The deployment by the SU of many mobile units and some tanks in the region (discovered by some preliminary recon attacks) caused an immediate reorganization of forces in the area that lasted for 21 days. This delayed the main attack until july21st 1941. At which point assault Mtn troops armed with artillery waited for another attack by combined Spanish and Romanian forces on Tblisi to begin. Both Spanish and Romanian commanders new the attack to pin down mobile reserves would not be successful and difficult to sustain, the attack went as long as possible. The main thrust of elite Spanish mountain troops occurred through Batum. The attack went well and mobile reserves were late in showing. This broke the SU defensive line as the SU counter attack was beaten off easily by Spanish mountain troops that dug in. Shortly after the battle was won and before a linking up operation against the tired and now flanked SU troops could occur they redeployed probably to the Kiev battlefront against Germany.

The Uk landed some 35 Uk divisions into Saudi Arabia. Seeing that the forces in turkey would now have to march fast and hard due north sent Germany the suggestion of redeploying my troops to Saudi Arabia to reinforce our ally. Roughly 30 divisions were redeployed to Saudi Arabia to assist in the defense of this ally. The train ride would take nearly a month and 29 divisions moved to Medina and 3 to Mammam to reinforce Romanian and other axis allies in the area. The British had moved 25 divisions from Mascate up the coast to Jiddah, where they dug in. The Uk had also chased Italy up the east cost of Africa and was now in southern Egypt with another 25 divisions. I noticed that the Uk troops had nowhere to retreat to If we amphibiously landed behind them as they didn’t widen their front. So I convinced Italy to help in this endeavor and we brought up allied air power to cover the landing. The landing went of without a hitch, after a brief naval battle in the red sea with the UK. After the landing we attacked at dawn forcing 25 UK divisions including 3 armor, 3 motorized and 19 inf divisions to surrender. Operation Jackrabbit was a complete success.

On the east cost of Africa Uk was unhindered as most of the forces facing them were pulled back to Alexandria or used in the amphibious landing below Jiddah. Now that the 2-pronged attack was foiled I ordered most of my forces across the Suez and some to Fuka to reinforce the Italian home guard. Fuka held off against an armored corps though just barely. Italy and Romania are currently taking all the provinces of Saudi Arabia back. After Spanish forces crossed the Suez we ran into 3 different Uk tank corps and another 15 divisions. After heavy fighting in Cairo 3 full strength armored divisions with 35 org. were ordered to try and move across the Nile River to the province of Fayum. After a flank attack by forces from As Suwayz by the British something strange occurred. During a change of direction as the unit was starting its retreat from Cairo to either of the friendly provinces of Port Said or Zaqazig, all communication was lost and the British reported strange lights in the sky and all communication ceased. The British reported the units had “disappeared without a trace” and couldn’t understand how they didn’t continue their retreat to either province with friendly forces. The British command did something unheard of and allowed and axis investigation into the disappearance. Neither side could figure out what had happened to 3 armored divisions at full strength with friendly forces to retreat too. After the investigation 2 things were ruled out British tricks and the units deserting.

In the north our forces forced their way across several rivers pursuing the Russians to the province adjacent to Moscow.

Experience

I wouldnt say the spanish troops have more experience than the german army. Maybe more wellconditioned after all their marching through africa and such  Most of my panzergenerals has gone from 1 skill to 3, one general who has seen much battle has gone from 1 skill to 3 skill and 99 exp(currently outside moscow). Several Generals such as manstein are closer to skill 5.

Actually...

I was refering to individual division experiance R2, not leaders. As far as leaders are concerned i have alot of them that started at 1 or 2 that are now 4+ some close to 5. Im pretty sure auto promote has no affect on minor nations. I have a crazy mountain divison with 39 exp, poor guys never get a rest.

AAR Session 5

United Kingodm

UK have proven its strength aigenst the axis basterds, Franco, Mussulini, Hitler and Hiroito and all 4 is going down!

UK and US have thro seriusly problems with transport ship capasetys, managed to land totaly 200 UK and US divisions in Afrika, and in an hard push, led by Montgommery, forced the Italiens and Spanish in full retreat, and throu this prosess secured Suez, Egypt, and Libya.
Additionaly did the Americans invade Whole Turky, and are now encerkeling divisions of the evil blood in Syria.

The UK Campaing in clering Suez by US arrivel was led by Montgommery

The Invation was opend by a massive artillery strike, followed by a massive push, forcing the Spanish and Italiens out into the sea, followed by the
Royal Air Force sinking the evakuations fleet. This manuver was on the edge, as the risk of being encerkled at El Elamein, was huge, however the UK paratroops ecualed the ods, and the offencive destroyed over 20 Axis divisions, and sunk sevral Capital ships of the Italien and Spanish fleet.

US Forces landing in Turky, and a month later the US troops with support of the RAF have pushed up and secure more or less whole Turky, so far have the invation not met any resistense, but 27 now encerkled Axis divisions outsyde Syria.

RAF have suprimecy in the skys, and with the new Jet tecnology, and all Fighter doctrines and tacktics ever possible to develop, does the Allied Airforse outstrengthen the mighty Axis Airforse, who may be supirier in numbers, but far out dated in tecnology, and tacktics.

German AAR

The axis continued to eat up soviet this session. Kiev and the long landstrip soviet controlled to it was abandoned by the soviet army. At the same time germany launched a major attack and made the soviets run up to the gates of moscow. But no big soviet losses was achieved by the attack... only more land. Leningrad was surrounded and liberated only to once again be surrounded by the wehrmacht. This time they wont get helped, a huge axis army is separating it and 18 divs. from the soviet controlled land. Soviet has now 24 base ic and an army of over 220 divs so apparantly the usa and uk is feeding the soviet army through archangelsk. At the same time the allies have invaded northafrica, mideast and now latest turkey with paratroopers and huge sealandings. With the majority of the axis surrounding the soviet army which is holding basicly some marshes and moscow and a port the axis high command is getting frustrated not being able to take out soviet and defend the homeland better.
If nothing drastic happens soon in soviet whole europe might fall..

In the east japan have attempted to take over australia and have taken and liberated the rest of oceania. However their navy is badly beaten up.

Subbing the Soviet Union

As leader of Nationalist Spain, I found it strange to wake up in the Kremlin. I last remember having a meeting with the SU ambassador just 12 brief hours earlier. The situation became clear to me after a meeting with the current right hand man of Stalin that he was ill and required someone to take his place commanding the SU as Stalin was just a figurehead. After some coaxing of the most unpleasant kind, I realized I had little choice.

The soviet army was in a bit of disarray, but in a decent defensive position using rivers to protect flanks. The transport situation was dismal, and supplies were not coming in fast enough to keep the troops in ammunition and food. After changing the commanders of many units and reorganizing things to my style of leadership, my first order was to send an envoy to allied leadership explaining the situation and the need for their aid. The first envoys didn’t accomplish much, as it was obvious the allied leadership had little faith in my proposition. So using a lot of supplies went on the offensive around Moscow and pushed the enemy back nearly cutting off a panzer corps. The allied leadership was paying attention but still wasn’t suitably impressed. Finally we organized a staged retreat from the Kiev area to a more defensible position using the river west of Moscow and other river lines and marshes.

The allies took notice when no divisions were lost in the leapfrog retreat to the new defensive locations just south of Leningrad and all the way east past Moscow. The allied command suddenly realized that they would be facing 380 more divisions if the Soviet army collapsed. Through lend lease and escorted shipments at prescribed times supplies got through and the situation improved.

Even with supplies the axis armies pounded and slowly pushed back SU troops. Leningrad was surrounded for 4 months and only through extreme effort was the siege lifted for a few weeks. German armor supported by 40 Hungarian and other axis divisions broke the line at Cherepovets and pressed up to Vtegra and Molotovsk cutting off 10 divisions blocking the Finnish at Segezha, the 10 divisions there were surrounded and though mobile forces were deployed in a relief effort they were forced to surrender. A battle for the key province of Cherepovets had 80 su divisions attacking 70 Hungarian and German units including 2 panzer corps. The battle favored the su and for a brief time 2 German armor corps were surrounded in Vytegra and forced into battle with no where to retreat. The Germans managed to open a retreat route 3 hours before the battle was over saving 2 full German panzer corps from destruction. After the battle for Cherpovets the lines stabilized as the harsh soviet winter came in. The line is back to Su controlling Cherepovets, Danilov, Kalnin, Rzhev, Demyansk, Novograd, with Lenningrad still surrounded.

I have been relieved of my forced service, as the original leader is well enough to take back his duties. I found it easy to pay off the guards and escape, the question is where will I end up?

USA Sessions 4 & 5

Roosevelt offers his apologies for not keeping the rest of the world up to date with the events surrounding the USA.

In the summer of 1941 the citizens of the world witnessed the facist terror spreading throughout the free world and into the great expanse of the USSR. Congress approved large sums of financial aid for both the UK and the Soviets, but were hesitant to get directly involved in the conflict. In the Far East it was noticed that the Japanese empire was growing into a dangerous threat and Roosevelt pushed congress to approve his bill denying Japan the precious oil reserves that she badly needed to fuel her navy.

usa03.jpg

In the first week of December 1941 Roosevelt got his wish when the Japanese empire launched a suprise invasion of the Phillipines. The citizens of the USA were outraged by this event and gathered behind their President 100% to support the UK and the USSR in the struggle against facism.

war_paint.gif

Roosevelt worried that it might be too late to stem the tide as the Axis armies were pushing for complete global domination and it looked like it would happen soon. The navy and airforce were rushed to the Pacific to beat back any more attempts by the Japanese to expand near the Americas.

In January of 1942 a large Japanese fleet was spotted near the Marcus islands by the US sub nets and PBR naval bombers. The US carrier fleet stationed in Wake Island was notified and set a course to intercept and destroy the invaders.

The tally after the battle left the Saratoga and the Ranger sitting at the bottom of the Pacific along with a couple non-capital ships but the price was very high for the Japanese. They lost 4 CVs, 4 BBs, 2 BCs, 8 CAs, & 6 CLs.

The Phillipines quickly fell followed by the Dutch East Indies. It was obvious now that our strength in the northern Pacific was pushing the Japanese south where they were virtually unopposed.

Churchill was demanding our attention in Egypt and half our army was shipped to support that operation. The US increased it's merchant marines and converted tons of shipping into troop transports to support the operations in securing the Suez canal. The fighting was tough but we managed to break into the mediterrainean in late 1942.

The Japanese pushed hard south and landed a large force in Darwin as well as near Sydney. 100s of American volunteers were shipped to defend their small continent.

usa13.jpg

Here our navy met the Japanese navy once more and alongside our British brothers we pummelled them badly reducing the Japanese navy to around 50 ships.

As more and more Americans landed in Australia, the tide turned in her favor pushing most of the Japanese invaders back to the sea by late 1942.

italy aar

At start of summer of 1942 spirits were high in axis headquarter the soviet union was expected to fall in the summer.
Then massive forces could be sent against the allies and force them into peace and end the war.

The main part of italian army had been stationed on the russian front and when allied forces landed in saudi arabia it was clear that the suez could not be defended. After beating back the first uk attack, the forces in suez were evacuated north to turkey. In north africa heavy fighting has taken place. After a massive attack by armored divisions the allies were able to push back the italien and spanish forces. about spanish 10 divisions could not be evacuated and were forced to surrender. The allies have pushed into libya and 3 mot divisions pushed all way to tripoli, but lacked support and therefore a landing behind were possible. They were forced to surrender. Italien forces were also able to encircle tobruk with 10 allied divisions, but allies were able to break the seige. Currently turkey has fallen and forces there are being evacuated to elsewhere. The next summer offensive in russia will begin soon and the italien general staff hopes very much that it will break the soviet as the allies are strongly pushing the italien forces in mid.

A strong airforce has been built, but before that the italien navy has taken
heavy losses. The italien general staff still expect a victory, but if the soviet union is not defeated this summer the italy may soon have defend her shores against the allies.
