I've read that Snowball is spending a lot of time doing research on historical personalities of the CK era (definitely one of the more anticipated features of the game for me), and will include MANY of these in the game. In the mini-FAQ I found the following:
1. Do these characters include only the starting monarchs and their ancestors? Does this mean that many of the more notable people of the 1066-1453 era will probably never appear?
2. Can we assume that, as of now, 1066 is the only planned start date / scenario?
3. Do these pre-1066 characters have any other effects on post-1066 gameplay? Considering that so much time is being spent on them, it would almost be a shame if they didn't.
4. I'm assuming all Christian dynasties will be randomly generated after the game starts, but will this apply to Muslim and other non-playable nations as well? Or will they follow history?
Dunno how well these questions can be answered right now, but I'd like to hear what people think.
- Historical characters are for 1066, after that dynasties breed random children ~ sergei
- When you start in 1066, you not only have ca. 1000 actual characters around, you also have their family trees down some four or five generations (major pain in research since the earlier you go, the more contradictions so you need to triple-check things). This way you don't start with a new, clean page. You already have legitimate, historical claims, relations, etc. ~ sergei
