Hey all! Glad to be on the team, and hope I can hit the ground running with updating the combat system.
Welcome! You're now on the team members list.Hey all! Glad to be on the team, and hope I can hit the ground running with updating the combat system.
So I thought about trying to reunite the Roman empire but am getting creamed. Starting as old Emperor Doukas of the Byzzies I can handily defeat the Duke of Apulia.
But in this game when the Seljuks started a war for Iconomium the old emperor died mid-war. When I finally surrendered Rum formed as usual but I noticed that neither the Seljuks nor Rum had truce with me. Within a month Rum declared war on the kingdom of Nickea (!) and with their own troops 8000 plus another 8000 event spawned troops I had no chance at all.
So is this WAD? Or did it all bug out because the old Emperor died mid invasion? Am I doomed to never reunite Rome?
EDIT : Also whats with all these event troops(!) ? Seljuks get them? Rum gets them? Cilea and Achea get 4k a piece if I don't grant them independence. Where are the Byzzies counter to them? All my dukes are already straining at the leash. At least I haven't seen the persistant Bulgarian uprising events recently. Have they been removed?
It is removed in 1081 (beginning of the Alexiad) if you started anywhere from 1066-1080 (but never exists if you started in 867). In this case, currently the only counter to this malus is to survive until then. It's a pretty short stretch...Finally when is the Disorganized malus removed for the Byzantines ? I noticed nothing on how to counter it.
A couple versions ago, PB started refilling the levies of Rum immediately upon conquest rather than having them sit fully depleted for 10+ years. This actually makes sense, because the Turks settled the conquered land rather than simply rule over it. However, from the days when Rum didn't have this new behavior, there is a significant modifier applied to the new Sultanate of Rum that boosts levy size amongst several other things. I think this could stand to be nerfed in light of the new behavior.
Also, the Seljuks' event troops should've ideally disbanded automatically on peace after the first war. That is no doubt an omission on our part and probably not mysterious.
No, the Bulgarians still do their thing. It just depends upon the RNG, the start date, the outcome of various wars, etc. As I mentioned about the Seljuk event troops, those should've disbanded on peace. The Rum event troops probably don't need to be so extensive or even exist now that levies are refilled immediately upon Seljuk Conquest of Anatolia / Formation of Rum. Some testing will have to determine the exact answer to that.

Well there is a new patch for CK2 out 2.1.5. Here's hoping a new (official) version of HIP will be out soon as well.
It'll be updated soon.Yeah i entered the game in 2.1.5 and loaded my save game when i noticed norse raiders getting on and off boats in 1 day.
So i closed the game to see what they changed in the new patch (apparently they "Exported ARMY_LOAD_UNLOAD_MOVE_COST to defines") and when i tried to start the game with the mod it started crashing.
I hope the mod gets updated soon, i find much more fun playing CKII with it.
