Ok well sounds like everyone is in. Hopefully the new 1.2 patch will be out this weekend or monday. So we might set Next Tuesday as the start date and a time of 8pm till 11pm. Would like to start around 7 or 7.30 so we can sort out countries and get organsied. Lets hope the patch is out, no point starting until it is.

For all those playing in the Weekend game keep a copy og HOI 2 installed with 1.1 as we will be continuing that game until its conclusion.

how do I have 2 seperate installs?

Bumble Bee
Create a new folder and name it whatever the new version is ie HOI 1.2
Then copy and paste the whole HOI 2 Game(with 1.1 patch u already have installed) to this folder. Then when you install the new patch install it to the folder you just pasted in. It should create a shortcut on your desktop if not yo uhave to manually add one.

I usually keep a clean install of the game...no patches installed. Everytime a new patch comes out I copy and paste the whole game to a new folder which I rename. Then I add the patch to this new folder. That way I can keep all the old versions and the original install. On my desktop i create a folder with all the HOI 2 links to all the different installs I have.

Sure albatross you can play. We can have up to 10 players, some might have to go a minor. We can always have some people doing Co-ops with larger nations if they wish. If your nation gets annexed or defeated you can move to another country. Some interesting Minors to play beyond, Romania, Australia or Canada might be Spain and Turkey and that player can decide which team they will join at some point in the game. So basicaly a wild card, could make things interesting.

On another point if we wait until 1.2 is out, it is not out now not this week but probably yhte week after, Johan posted that on the forums. Plus im moving hous in a couple of weeks so it will be a little sloe for a few weeks. Do we wait or do we start this Tuesday and just play?

I like the 'wildcard' idea!! - this will certainly fire up the diplomatic corps traffic - with both Allies and Axis vying for the wildcard nation (Turkey and Spanish winner of the SCW are classic examples) to join their side.

I reckon just start up the Tuesday game this week - The Paradox newsletter mentioned April 18 (monday), so I am sure that they are working for this deadline -- the only other variable is how long before you think that you are ready to host the game from your new digs.
What does everyone else want to do??
Cheers

I would like to start this week, and I'd also like to play a minor like Spain or Turkey, I still have so much to learn :)

Well better to wait for version 1.2 so there is plenty of time for discussion. Mike has put me in a position on Tuesdays nights with my umpiring as its tribunal night. Better not report anyone :)
So I guess if you have any preference for sides best start nominating.
I think the following sides are suitable for a big game:

Axis
Germany(must have): Mike
Italy(must have): Gezeder
Japan(must have):Munster
Romania
Hungary

Allies
UK(must have): Major Ball
USA(must have): Nolan
France: Albatross
Russia(must have): Omni
Canada:
Australia: Bumble bee

No human China

Wildcards
Turkey, Sweden and Spain(dont know how this will work till after the civil war)

HOUSE RULES Known bugs/exploits: If building province improvements (factories, infrastructure, land/sea forts etc) you may not use serial build, since all of these are sometimes completed simultaneously when rehosting. No use of 'ghost' units for capturing enemy provinces etc. No phoney wars (i.e. DOWing but not attacking). Annexation (or puppeting) must be done as soon as possible. Axis are not allowed to DOW nations under attack from the USSR.

Alliances: Italy and Japan may join the Axis whenever they choose to. Only historical alliances for the "Big 6" (USA can only join Allies, Italy and Japan can only join Axis, USSR can not join Allies or Axis etc). Any human minor country may join Aixs or Allies alliance at anytime they choose.

Political actions: You may not influence or puppet a nation controlled by a human player. The UK may not DOW Japan (this leads to the USA being able to join, see below). Axis nations may not DOW USSR puppets or other Commintern countries, they must DOW the USSR itself. War in Europe starts with Danzig event however if German belligerence allows it Allies may DOW. If Germany offers Russia full pact wether accepted or not Russia may not DOW on Germany till 1st January 1942. If Germany does not offer full pact Russia may DOW anytime. Italy may Join war anytime after Paris has fallen. Japan may enter Axis alliance at anytime but must DOW on the USA also. With a human French player Allies may not take military control of Poland.

Trade agreements: Allies and the USSR aren't allowed to break any starting trade agreements with Axis humans unless at war with this nation or through events (US oil embargo). No economic warfare....UK,USSR and USA may not trade for rares in the first month of the game. They can however trade them away. No economic warfare(ie trading for all rares or oil when not needed)

USA joining the war: The USA may not manually move the intervention slider. USA may not DOW on Japan before 1st January 1942 but may DOW on Germany if the Belligerence level of Germany allows it.

USA supporting other nations: Before the USA is part of the Allies they may only support other nations via events (Lend Lease). After the USA joins Allies they may freely support any Allies nation and the USSR (if the USSR is at war with Germany). This means no trades for resources or supplies till Allied or USSR is at war with germany.

Nuclear weapons: No nukes before 1945

Loading between sessions: Feel free to load up your own nation (and any puppets you control) and ponder your strategic situation between sessions. It is however not allowed to open up other player's nations.

Mike and I have compiled a list of house rules...not too many but just based on our experience and taken from other groups. No good rushing in till we have debated teams and house rules. Should be more than enough time for Version 1.2 to come out.

I have a preference to play the UK so feel free to add your preferences and I will alter this post as we go.

Anyone who feels they cannot make regular Tuesday game is better of to coop with someone

Well i would like to try 1 game as Germany in 1.2 then change to another nation for next game hopefully allies. So pick another nation omni, there mine for this one when we start.

Seems to be an even split on when we should start. If we wait for 1.2 we dont know how long it will be. Hopefully next week. So lets see if its out by Tuesday if it is we can start, if not well ill go with what the group wants to do.

Russia then please.

Those house rules sound good to me so far.

Crapola, A couple of factories did this to me earlier on, so I've been bleeding excess IC's into re-inforcements to make up for it. But I know earlier on I had a few serial AA's and Coastal forts run fine, even after a few loads, so I thought it must have only been factories that did this.

I've got a few serial build coastal forts running at the moment, I'll write down when they're set to end & how much they cost me. If the serial builds screw up, I'll waste IC-days to pay them off.

Sure hope they fix that in 1.2, having to click on new builds on every crappy little island every 3 months sucks!

Gezeder

(Oh, regarding nation, - republican spain might be fun... but if we're not going with wildcards, Italy has always interested me.)
