HoI2 crashes to desktop

You do not have much free space on that drive, can you free some up?
Also what about your virtual memory, is it running off that drive as well?

Also double check in the process tab that you have shut down as much as possible, and make sure you have nothing in the system tray.
 
Ok, here I am again, sorry for not responding but my studies make me go for a few daysto another city quite often.

Here it is -

Partition C: - system one 23 GB free
D: 7 GB
E - 2 GB
F - 18 GB
J - 24

HoI2 is on the drive J

Partitions F and J are on a spearate drive, C,D,E re on my main drive

Virtual memory is on partition C -it size is from 1536 to 3072 MB.

I'm a noob when it comes to the virtual memory and stuff like that.

Regarding the programmes which are running in background - i tried turning all the notneccesary stuff off, such as antispyware, antiviruses, disckeeper soft, etc, but nothing helped.

That could be your problem, Reinstall and try the F drive.
 
Have you, by any chance, installed the GeForce 6800 after you installed windows + directX. In other words, have you upgraded your video card?
 
I think a fresh install of the operating system would be a good idea at any rate to clean up those Dx errors.
