Well the path needs to be where the game is actually installed, since you can install it anywhere, the correct path is the path the game can be found at.

Both my old game and the new one installed fine on PC at Saturn, as did the patch. So the problem lies with my PC. It looks at the CD, and sees Crusader Kings. Perhaps I'll buy CK and it will see HoI.

Never have a had such crap with a game. I should stick to v1.00 and just win more often.

or....someone can tell me how to edit the patch so that it installs onto CK.

Success of a sort.

HoI now installs on my 2nd computer, I managed to change the regional settings, and the game loaded in english.

Unfortunately, this is my network server only, and has not sufficient power to run HoI well. (only PIII, 384 MB)

So, I just edited v1.00 (motorised div, artillery, some events....etc), and I'll wait for v4.

Well if you can get it to install on one sytem and patch it then you can just copy the entire thing over to the system you want to use the game on.

All those who are having these problems, would you mind posting:

a) What is the language of your game?
b) What are the "Regional and Language Setings" on your computer?

Thanks!

That's not really true, mine has no problem with that.

This is usually a situation where someone buys the game in one region/Publisher and tries to play it in a region it was not designed for.

What path is in your registry entry?

Yup. That would explain it all right.

The game loads and plays just fine without the registry entries, but the installer (and thus also the patcher) depend on those registry keys being present.

I hate to sound even stupider than I am, but can you please explain how to fix the problem as though you are talking to an idiot? I bought the game from the Paradox website, so I assume it's the Swedish version (although I could be wrong), and my computer is set for Australia, which is where I'm located. I have the game installed in the c:\ games\paradox interactive directory on my computer.

I have just come back to the game after a 4 or so month break and would like to play it with the latest version, but I have no idea how to change registry entries etc.

Cheers in advance!

The games from the Paradoxshop are the normal English version, which means on an Australian computer with English settings they should work just fine. Can you try to uninstall the game completely and after that resinstalling the game from scratch into the standard directory?

NOTE:

You do NOT need to install patches if you have the ON demand version since it will always have the latest official version.

Thanks, Flori, that worked. Although I notice that in my start screen in the top right hand corner it says HoI v1.2 (YQHQ). I thought I must have installed the wrong patch, but when I tried to run 1.3 again, it told me I already have HoI 1.3 installed. Is this correct?

Cheers

Make sure you have the 1.3A patch.

Hello,

I recently bought the german version of HOI2 and had the same problem which appears in this and other sticky threads, namely that:
- the game installs with installer notification and desktop shortcut both labelled 'Crusader Kings'
- the 1.2 or 1.3 or 1.3a patches will not install, because the installer gives the 'game not installed'.
As this item is recurring in many postings and on different systems it obviously and definitely is an installer bug.
As a customer I have only one wish: that the money I spent on an (otherwise excellent) Paradox game gives me a correct return and efficient after sales service. So I would like to have a clear answer from Paradox how this problem can be resolved and my bought copy updated to the last patch version.

I'm running on win xp and have also EU2 installed and patched (without any such problems). Regional settings are French and til now have never caused the slightest problem.
Thanks in advance for the answer.

Language setting should be the same as the language of the game.

Why should this be? The patch is an international version for all languages, the game name remains the same and if this should reallly be the case, its odd (and a bug in my opinion). Do you really suggest that I must have installed a German version of Win XP in order to activate the patch (as my game is 'in German')?
I am regularly installing and patching English, French or German version games without problems on my PCs.
And as a customer to Paradox Interactive I don't want to discuss evenings the why's and why nots of the mentioned problem but - you guess it? -play with an uptodate version of the game which I bought in an original package from an official vendor. No offend intended ;)

I am happy to help you fix the problem you are having, If you just want to complain, then take it to Support@Paradoxplaza.com

Because this is the support forum, not the complaints forum.
