My problem is that I by accident has deleted my HOI2-Uninstall-folder before I had unistalled the game itself... So when i tried to uninstall an error telling me that there was a '' catastrofic error'' and that my core files were missing... I've run out of ideas and the suggestions i've got from a previos thread didn't help very much... So as you can read i've got serius problems and if anyone have any ideas please help me :(

I've now done exatly what Castellon wrote in his manual unistall guide... So there is no trace of hoi2 left on my computer... But when i tried to install it again, the ''install'' button in the setup was grey and only ''play and ''unistall'' was there.. and if tried pressing one of them nothing happened... I still have doomsday installed if that's a problem?.. please help me!

Then somewhere on your C: drive there must still be a trace of either hoi2 or installshield. A file, folder or registry key entry that the setup program checks for to determine if the game is already installed.

Are you sure you performed every step of the uninstall?

When you click uninstall you see repair let it run for 1% and then abort, HOI2 now made a fresh key so now you are sure which one you have to delete and simply delete it.

and now try to install it.

"You have to manually delete a key in your registry. You do that by starting regedit (Start => Run => regedit => Enter) and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Paradox Interactive" and delete the Hearts of Iron key. It looks like a folder in regedit.(If you have applied more than one Patch then there might be more than one key).
If you are nervous about editing the Registry then get someone to do it for you. However if you only delete the above key(s) no harm will be done.

Also delete the directory C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron 2."

This is from the stickie in this folder. I follow this advice, delete the registry, manually delete my Paradox Interactive files. When I autorun my DD CD I get the install option. I click install and then it asks me if |I want to repair or remove DD :confused:

THE REASON I CLICKED INSTALL IS TO INSTALL, NOT TO UNISTALL WHAT I HAVE ALREADY DELETED!

Any ideas what I can do to reinstall the game?

nstallShield creates a directory where it keeps all the information on installed software. On my machine it is 'C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information' 'InstallShield Installation Information' is marked as hidden so to be able to find it you have to change folder options on you PC to show hidden files (For instructions on this see the next post). Search for files containing 'Hearts' in this directory and you will find a file called 'Setup' with the following content:
[Startup]
AppName=HOI2 Engine=0
Copy=1
Source=0
[Languages]
Default=0x0009 count=1
key0=0x0009

Have you deleted the installshield?

Try and search for doomsday.

Done that now, found a doomsday, looked in the folder and found 7 items

data1.cab
data1.hdr
layout.bin
setup.exe
setup.ilg
setup.ini
setup.inx

What should I do next?
(I figure setup.exe but I feel well out of my depth so I figure its best to ask)

i did everything and wont unstall

Strange.

You have deleted doomsday/hoi2 from registry? Make a new search for doomsday/HOI2

You have deleted doomsday/HOI2 from the programfiles folder?

You have deleted the installshield folder for doomsday/HOI2? Remember to make your computer to see hidden files.

Do a search for doomsday/HOI2 on your harddrive(s).

Good luck
