Wow, that's an... interesting Un-united States  . And to think that's just the beginning!

So now it's New England versus New York. How confident are you now that you can take them on, considering army discipline and morale?

Looks like you'll need to ally Virginia to take down New York. So far though, you're doing really well! Does New England have any interesting missions like Massachusetts did?
Nah, New England doesn't really have any country-specific missions. If they did have one, the only one I would consider giving them would be to conquer New York.
Some interesting early consolidation. New York will need an attack quickly or they will expand more and you'll never break out. Ideally you need access to other borders to expand your realm.
Yes, or as you'll see in this next update, I do some sneaky things.
Or perhaps you are going to colonize Canada?:p
How is looking economic map?
Actually, I forgot to mention this before, but the states have colonial restrictions imposed on them, so no Canada for now.
Excellent first update. New York is kinda scary. So you'll have to take them down soon, or maybe take out Virginia and try to contain them that way.
Yeah, well, eventually they'll have to go.
Colonise the Canadian lands north of New York and attack them in a pincer movement from the north and east.

Regarding Canada - any plans on creating the states like you have for the US ones?
Perhaps you will find out soon. My newest version of my States mod is almost complete, and should be out within a week.

Well, considering that I only have 4 divisions right now, and I think New York has about 26, I'd say attacking them is a No Go.
It'll be all map able to colonize, or with countries from vanila?
No, the states have some colonial restrictions imposed on them, so that Texas, California, and New York can't expand their power base through colonies.
fun times, curious to see how your mod plays out.
Thanks. I think you'll enjoy this next update.

This looks awesome! Downloading it as I post this.

And nice AAR.

How to Be Completely Mediocre at Playing Your Own Mod Part 2

Hello again everyone. This update entails my expansion of New England in an unexpected way.
But, before we get to that, let's take a look at a modifier I placed on all of the states.
It takes 1 colonists away yearly, which basically stops any states from colonizing, unless they are willing to waste an idea on doing it.
I8OHS.jpg

Anyways, I regain one point of stability through a random event.
Also, take a look at the way I make money if I'm a small nation that can't trade.
First, I get 100-ish cultural tradition. Then, I recruit a 6 or 5 star Master of Mint. I don't hire him, and one year later I've gained about 15 ducats, at no cost to me.
Doing this has saved me loads of times over all the games I've played.
mTFZr.jpg

I regain the final stability point, and I also take a 6-star diplomat to curb my infamy.
cBwIJ.jpg

I also have reached government tech 4, and hence, a new national idea.
I decide to take unum sanctum, for reasons that you'll see very soon.
Z1yIu.jpg

I spent some time clicking on all of the heretics, but most of them had a huge amount of allies that I couldn't beat on my own.
Eventually, I centered in on Oklahoma. They were at war, fielding revolts, and only had Alabama and Texas as allies. Alabama was very weak, and Texas was losing a war of its own.
Seizing my chance, I swooped in and declared war. Though, I didn't send any troops over for several years, because I didn't actually plan all of this out while I was playing the game...
fXlHj.jpg

While I was loafing around, not sending troops West, I got an alliance with Maryland, as well as an event that gave me -6 infamy. What a catch!
Also take note of the very large Wisconsin.
dqaxH.jpg

Finally, I sent my troops West, and made a stop in Kentucky so I could attack Alabama.
When I had just destroyed their army, I completed my mission and got a new one to build a fleet.
Also note that by this time I had recruited another 4000 men into the army.
htO9k.jpg

Then, after occupying all of Alabama as possible leverage, and to keep my back safe, I reached Oklahoma.
I swiftly destroyed their army of like 4000 men and occupied all of their territories.
Meanwhile, Texas was getting slaughtered by Arkansas and some rebels. I took advantage of this and started laying siege to them as well.
7gr5h.jpg

I took a slider move towards quality during the war, so as to give me slight boost in my battles.
z6SRI.jpg

I also received an event that took away another 3 infamy.
ZMkld.jpg

After peace-ing out Alabama for a prestige bonus, I took 4 provinces from Oklahoma, the war leader, for exactly 100 warscore and 8 infamy.
lBwbO.jpg

Next, I added to my momentum with an attack on Kansas.
HRlKw.jpg

Only Missouri joined the war for them. During the fight, I got an alliance offer from Louisiana, which I accepted.
ejR0E.jpg

I took Kiowa off of Kansas in a peace treaty, as well as vassalizing Missouri.
R6wRp.jpg

Then, I get one of the greatest rulers to ever walk upon the Earth.
7GRnY.jpg

Finally, I attack Texas to spite their blasphemous heresy.
y9C4f.jpg

I take 2 provinces off of them, since the warscore was too high to take a third.
Also note that Dakota formed, and that Louisiana is very large.
kT3hm.jpg

Lastly, I make a move towards centralization on the slider.
A pretender pops up, causing me much grief when moving my army from New England and back to Texas, since I had 3 rebel armies spawn in Texas while I was gone, with 2 of them occupying the province they were in.

That's it for now folks. I really appreciate any feedback that you guys give me, so feel free to comment.
Until next time.

This looks awesome! Downloading it as I post this.

And nice AAR.
Grrr... Accursed ninja posts!

Also, thanks a lot! I hope you enjoy playing it!

Sorry, didn't realize you were going to post an update.

Loving the mod, btw.

And great update, but I don't see why you're getting unconnected provinces.

Well, I expect that he'll be attempting to form The United States before too long. While the provinces are unconnected, it allows him a greater manpower, more presence within the US, more possibilities to expand in more locations without having to deal with New York yet, a potential location for army build-up, interesting strategic opportunities, a decent story, lack of boredom...

Well, there are plenty of reasons, and those are only a few. I personally, from having played as New England in Vicky II so much, say- TAKE IT ALL OVER.

Otherwise, I like it so far and will continue reading. Actually downloading it as soon as I am done posting this.

Maybe the map needs more provinces? These states are expanding far too quickly. At this point, it looks like you'll be expanding north, as well as keeping New York, Louisiana, and Deseret on friendly terms. Good luck.

I am bemused.
Excellent! Though this update has less surprises.
Surely this must be the national anthem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNh-IAXaB7I *whistles*
I listened to that, and it's actually a half-decent song.

Thanks! I'm getting unconnected provinces because the only other option is a frontal attack on New York.

Yes, you've got all of those reasons right! And, of course I'll take it all over, what could possibly go wrong?
Also glad to see that you're downloading it. I think it's a pretty decent mod.

Well, if you check out the latest update to my mod, you'll see that things just got way more different.
Also, Friendly is a relative term!

How to Be Completely Mediocre at Playing Your Own Mod Part 3

Hey there all of you readers! It's update time again!
But first, you should all go check out the new version of my mod. Now it's a lot "cooler".

Anyways, let's head into the game.
First off, I attack Kansas to cleanse their heresy. Nebraska joins 'em.
uN26D.jpg

While I'm waiting for some sieges to finish, I go up in land tech.
It seems that I can now get new infantry. I choose longbows, as I usual do.
ZIri2.jpg

I vassalize both Kansas and Nebraska, and I cancel my old mission.
My new mission is to vassalize Texas, which is so easy it's laughable.
0CXqc.jpg

I declare war on Texas, who has one province and no allies.
q5UXi.jpg

Half a year later, they are my vassals, and I receive a new mission to convert Wichita.
Rw4Al.jpg

I make another move towards centralization on the slider. I lose a stability, but I can get it back within a year or two.
x4SLS.jpg

Then, I get another election. I take the diplomat, and that's what he is. Or rather, all he is.
KphCe.jpg

Fortunately, nothing happens over the next 4 years, and I elect a far more balanced leader to take his place.
M3QKF.jpg

During this time, I get dragged into a war with Virginia. I take the opportunity to block new York's expansion South, and I vassalize them.
D7mus.jpg

After another period of lounging around, I make a slider move towards quality.
4G7vX.jpg

Then, after positioning my armies, I declare war on my ex-ally Louisiana with the reconquest casus belli.
haJdK.jpg

During the war I get a new ruler, who happens to be a decent administrator and diplomat.
JQRlw.jpg

Of course, I was so enamored with my new leader, that I completely failed to take a screenshot of the peace deal with Louisiana.
I take out my wrath by willing the horrible ruler to die, and I am rewarded with a new ruler appearing... 4 years after I got the old one.
In the Louisiana peace deal I took 3 provinces. 1 was a core, and another was a CoT.
gz1af.jpg

Now, let's take a look at the most powerful nation around. Deseret sure does look scary, does it not?
Right after this image was taken, they diploannexed New Mexico.
qYgbx.jpg

And now, to prove that I am the 2nd best, not some foolish New Yorkers, I move my troops to New England proper, and I decide to spice things up.
5vrmo.jpg

I know what all of you are thinking. But you don't need to flatter me like that.
You'll see that outcome of the war next update.
Anyways, until next time...

How to Be Completely Mediocre at Playing Your Own Mod Part 4

Hey again everyone. Time for another update!
Now, when I ended the last time, I had just attacked New York. Now, let's see just how well I fared.

So, I am attacked by New York in Pocumtuk, but due to my excellent 4-shock general, I win the fight.
rWbfg.jpg

This seals the fate of New York's main army, as I annihilate them when I beat them to Mahican.
zprSy.jpg

During the war, paying for an extra 12,000 man army is rather expensive. So expensive, that I'm too busy (and mediocre) fighting New York to notice that I have too little money, until it's too late.
Also note that I've seized a majority of new York's provinces by now.
FVp1o.jpg

Anyways, the loan is made null and void when I receive over 200 ducats in a random event. Go me!
SHJIC.jpg

I make a move towards quality while I'm finishing up some of the sieges in New York. Luckily, I only lose some manpower.
DO18s.jpg

Of course, just when everything is looking up...
OJREY.jpg

Oklahoma just decides to make things even worse. Thanks Oklahoma.
I only have 12,000 men in the Western theater, barely enough to beat Oklahoma, not even close to Deseret's number.
Ib3C1.jpg

I decide to make a peace deal with New York so I can go fight Deseret with all I have.
I seized 2 of New York's colonies, as well as the 3 provinces I got in the peace deal, including a core and a CoT in Manhattan.
F7cEA.jpg

Deseret seizes several of my provinces by the time I can move my army into the area.
I assault a few of Oklahoma's provinces, and manage to force them to offer me a peace deal.
ZQqVJ.jpg

I destroy 3 of Deseret's armies, but they just keep on coming.
My war exhaustion isn't helping, either, with it being currently at around 7
3AHpm.jpg

I decide to pause the game and take a look at my new CoT in Manhattan, but look at the surprise I find there instead.
Maryland has almost completely conquered New York, and have replaced them as the great power in the region.
XY8W6.jpg

I find the funds to repay my loan while I'm sieging back several of my provinces.
68Ovh.jpg

Finally, after peacing out with Dakota, I lower Deseret's warscore enough to accept my concession of defeat.
I also face a massive rebellion as a celebration gift.
MdZNm.jpg

After beating the several rebellions in the land, I move my national focus to Pueblo.
4RYCX.jpg

Then, after waiting a couple of years to let war exhaustion go down, I get border friction of Oklahoma.
They will pay for their earlier attack.
KZpfh.jpg

I take away 3 of their provinces for only 6 infamy, a great deal in my opinion.
Hopefully Deseret will consolidate them at some point.
QLEif.jpg

I finish up this session with a move towards centralization.
JZB31.jpg

Anyways, that all for now everyone.
Until next time...
