How to play HOI2 DD in windowed mode

I had the problems you experience as well in TRP mod. Dont ask me why, no saves, no scenarios. I didnt get to solve it, but then again i didnt like that mod ;)

And @Son of Liberty: The game does not really support windowed mode. It was edited into the .exe for Johan or some other for not using to alt-tab all the time while programming. It was found out when someone browsed the exe file.
 
k...I was having the same problem a lot of you where having...I couldn't get the Scenario's to show up when I was in 1024 x 768/16 bit color...nothing seemed to work...

I tried the shortcut hack...even tried putting it in a batch file...

changed the shortcut to read "C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron 2\HoI2.exe" WINDOWED
-Top right would say WINDOWED but would not be in Window
-Scenario's missing... :confused:

tried Pegasus Hexa Wizard by Lord Ederon -selected HOI2 1.3 Windowed...worked like a charm...It's now Windowed and I have the Scenario's
Now HOI2 works with my 1600x1200

Does that work in Arma as well?
Starts up but crashes, though I have Res at 16...

Did you try Rosen's bat script thing, it's on the last page.
 
In 1.2 patch (Arma) WINDOWED command works, but you are not able to see your scenarios and saves.
To avoid that you have to make 2 spaces between your game path and WINDOWED command (not only one). If you do that it works fine. Of course you still have to change your desktop colours to 16 bit.
 
Can't get it to work!

I have tried it.
WINDOWED, 16 bit...
But when I start the game, the intro is shown in full screen. Then I see the game in a window but a message of a problem comes up and closes the game. :S

Any suggestions? Can it have something to do with my screen being 16:9 (widescreen) or with vista?
 
is there any kind of program that makes the game run windowed ? i tried the bat thingy, windowed thingy, (all in 16 bit ) , never seems to work :( im using win 7 64 bit but the game is working fine fullscreen just cant get it work windowed. and i dont have time to play it windowed, which means id be rly dissapointed if ill need to stop playing the game bc developers couldnt include a single "windowed mode" option.

edit ; just tried DXwnd application , should work & again it didnt .

it says error. does anyone know how to get a labtop with 8,1 windows to go 16 bit?

Select shortcut
Paste destkop
Right click
Select settings
and i wrote the first line D:program Files/Paradox Int/Doomsday/HoI2.exe'' WINDOWED but still open the full screen.What's the wrong? Please Help!
