i love 80 days. definitely one of my favourite mobile games. the sorcery series by inkle is fun too.
Why not?80 days is great. It wouldn't be a 80 days game if you weren't in a rush. (and despite the light time constraint i find it quite relaxing actually)
Why not?
The whole idea of Around the World in 80 days is Phineas Fogg and Passepartout rushing from one place to another to win Phineas' gamble. They don't really have time to do anything else but move forward.
Same thing in game you actually don't have time for sight seeing or trading commodities (actually most of the time you do, but sometimes you have to make a decision between looking at the market or departing immediately), even looking at the timetables could make you miss the airship that is departing in 2 minutes !
This is the feeling i get when the bus i should have taken pass right in front of me while i'm looking at google maps
But seriously the time constraint is not that stressful you got plenty of time actually if you go for a regular route, but then taking strange, more convoluted routes might lead you to more interesting encounters or secret destinations, but timing would become a bit more important then.
if it was a fun board game (not simulation) then sureDo you think that grand strategy Paradox games would work in a classical turn-based format? Would you look forward to try a turn based version of EU4 or CK2? I'm aware that their games are technically turn-based with ever flowing micro-turns, but what about a game flow like Civilization or Total War?
turnbased games are just too boring, so no.
This is a bit ofan awkward comparison, as the games do not have the same requirements.Yup.
Can't do it, I NEED to optimize. :/
Better flow? Have you ever been at peace while other players are fighting in Paradox games? That usually means speed 3 or even 2 (depending on the group) and you are for a long painful wait. Unlike turn-based game where you can quickly submit your turn and be done for a day while warring players can spend as much time as they want scheduling their turns.Turn based games are great for micro while real time has better flow

I think that in a single-player the flow is mostly up to the player. You can play real-time almost like turn-based by pausing all the time or play turn-based as real-time by only taking important actions and ignoring micromanagement.I was talking in general multiplayer is much much different
No, that's a tick. In an MMORPG, you can come with the same argument and say that each 1/6 of a second is a turn since ticks work like that. The difference with GSGs is that they are pausable.Paradox games are already turned base. Each turn is a day in EU or an hour in HOI. The turns just automatically roll forward unless you pause, but if you want, you can pause every turn.

Speed 4/5 and pause whenever stuff comes up or needs to be done.lol I never play higher than speed 3 really. Don't know how you can get anything done at speed 4. Though I guess if you have 0 lag that might make it more playable. Playing multiplayer at speed 3 I often find my orders don't actually get registered until about a week after I give them!
