But I don't have any scenarios to pick from to start a game. Anyone got some solutions?

I'm sorry, I don't understand your question.
If you are talking about "Hearts of Iron 2" or a variant, what do you mean about you "don't have any scenarios"?
In HOI2, if you look at the left side of the screen when you turn the game on, there is a list of scenarios to choose from.
Click on one to choose it, and choose a country flag to click on to play to start it.
(You can also scroll down on one of the country flags to get a list of other countries to choose.
If you scroll down further on the left, there are also other, more limited scenarios for specific battles.
I assume you know all of this.
I am probably telling you things you already know.
If you want to know which scenario is the best, it depends on what you're looking for.
Do you want a good introduction to the game, an easy game, or one where you stand a good chance of winning, or a really tough campaign?
I can't really advise on which would be the best choice for those.
Or are you talking about a problem you are having with the game itself and it's files?
What precisely is your specific problem with the game or the copy you have?
Somebody who knows more than me may be able to help.

I really was genuinely assuming that you knew everything I said before, but thought I'd answer anyway because sometimes people miss the obvious.
(I know I can.)
I also know from my own experience that I sometimes tend to think I've explained things, when I've left out some important details, and nobody has a clue what I mean.
(My family in particular.)
About all I can say about that is that it looks like something wrong with the program, that it is WAY beyond any help I could give, but somebody else might have some ideas.
I've had my share of weird things with these games, I hope the next answer you get is more helpful than I could possibly be.
It looks like a real problem but I wouldn't know how to get an answer.
I don't actually know how you get the attention of the technical experts on these forums, but it looks to me like you might need one.
I hope you get a response from somebody who can help you, or who can connect you to somebody who can.

I fingered it out on my own. In the steam settings section I had -w in the startup options or whatever. I removed that and it now displays the scenarios.
