So this is what the Paradox podcast was talking about when they said CK III was so sucessfull that they needed to restrutcure their future DLC plans.

Reminds me a bit of D3 where people actually started liking the game when RoS came out, but the team still wasn't allowed to continue making more content because some manager somewhere didn't like how on of their [insert searious buisness type combination of letters here] looked like.
I also have my doubts that [whoever makes this decision] will ever look at the Imperator numbers after this and think: "hey, this game we have abandoned for a year and only ever grew bit by bit will definetely explode in growth, if we make a new content pack!", but who knows.

I hope the dev team didn't take it too hard. Imperator has become a really good game and it really deserved to get more content. But you definetely delivered a finished product with 2.0 and didn't abandon it before people got what they paid for at release. So great job :)

This is such a shame to learn about, as I've been playing Imperator a lot while waiting for EU4: Leviathan. It's like insult to injury, in some ways.

Regardless, I came here to make a positive post because I've been feeling so negatively about the Leviathan release, and here it is:

Imperator is the best game I've ever played on PC. Please don't kill it.

I really hope they are working on vicky3, because that's just about the only reason i will accept for everything that's happened lately at PDS. The only game that i could call in a good state right now is stellaris (or vicky2 and ck2, but they are not in active development) which is pretty disheartening as fan of the company for years.

@Dnote I'm a medieval latinist at a very prestigious Canadian university well known (internationally) for its Latin program, so feel free to hit me up if you need help at any point with any localization issues with respect to Roman ... stuff. I don't know much about period-appropriate Latin but I know who to ask about it, and would volunteer that service free of charge in my spare time. :']

Also, did you ever consider partnering with any language departments to get the word out about Imperator? I know another classicist in Florida doing postdoctoral work on Latin and other ancient languages in video games (she focused heavily on Assassin's Creed: Odyssey), having never heard of this game until I introduced it to her.

For those of us who had the pleasure of playing this game on Macs up until 1.3 broke it for us - this news is not surprising at all. Karma's a b****! :p I hope Paradox learns that you can't be quite so high-handed when your playerbase is in the triple digits. ;)

Noooooooooo. Although I'm currently in a period where I don't play complex games much I still very much kept in touch with Imperator! It's sad to see a game I've been following so much in a state like this.

Hopefully PDX will have learned an important lesson : never let a certain J-man lead a project ever again.
IR has become a really great game after like 90% of the original mechanics (Mana anyone?) have been thrown out or revamped. The current (or as it stands for now unfortunately ex) team has done a great job saving Imperator

Don't forget the J-man was behind the removal of mana too. PDX as a whole get plenty of mixed signals, as a lot of the financial success of their games have little to do with the quality of what in particular is released.

After massive backlash and Imperator bombing heavily in the beginning. Lets be honest here, IR was not worth playing until Marius. Hence why I had 10 hours before 2.0 and now I'm hovering around 150. And it WILL become higher. Because luckily, unlike PDX itself, the modding community seems to be very interested in investing time into the game.

The modders will keep the game alive for some time. To be honest - the strength of PDX games is in moddability. You can either download mods or tweak the game yourself.

And when it comes to the company - there is something every depressed I:R fan can do. Don't buy anything from them anymore. If they hurt you - you're free to hurt them (financially).

Aye, burned one too many times. And it's super sad because PDX has produced some very good games over the years. Another company fucked over by corporate greed.

RIP Paradox
How are you canceling your best project just because the popularity hasn't caught up yet? Have some faith in your own ability and have some vision please. That is imperative to stay relevant.

If I was Paradox I would have moved more personel to the Imperator team to flesh out the engine and make it ready for EU5 and the next decade.

Tbh after playing imperator I can't really play EU4 anymore even though I like the EU4 time period better.

Rethink this awful decision Paradox!

I'm going to retire so I won't be rude..., now only mods can keep the game alive.

Extremely disappointed that a game that was going somewhere after 2.0 is basically abandoned for at least this year, and probably for ever.
I don't care about Vic3 or other projects, Imperator has so much potential, this time period has been mistreated too much for too long.
