It goes exactly like this.
Install Shield Wizard loading...error pop-up

"An installation support file 'c:\windows\temp\{D6B8ED44-CA4A-4702-924D-34596E5450DB}\_IsRes.dll' could not be installed.
The system cannot find the file specified."
OK

Go look at the dir, the file is there, I can look at the file properties. But I whenever I try to move or copy the file and error comes up saying windows cannot find it. So I clear the temp dir, try again same problem, go on-line look for similar problems but I cannot find any. Go to Install shield go through there steps to fix problems, download new IS files, install fails because of same error as above. What is going on here?

The procedure to follow depends on what operating system you use.
So like what operating system are you using? :)

Do you have more than one CD drive? if so try it in the other drive.

It looks like your drive does not like install shield.

Its not the drive same thing happens with my other 5 drives. I also already copied it to my hd but same problem. This is getting a little out of hand, if i had my windows disk now would usually be the time i reinstall windows. But there has got to be a reason this is happening. I have also now confirmed that it has the same problem with install shield on everything not just ck. So could it be a problem with install shield itself?

Could be something in the system install shield is trying to interact with.

interesting i tried to manually register _isres.dll in one of the temp folders and and error came up saying
"c:\windows\temp\a\_isres.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found
DllRegisterServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of c:\windows\temp\a\_isres.dll may be in memory
Consider using PView to detect and remove it."
I guess I am going to see where this goes.

It is an install shield related file.

Since nothing with install shield is working for you I would suggest contacting thier tech support, since they would know far better than me what the solution would be for you.
Though keep me informed as well if you don't mind.

I feel your pain.
Glad it is sorted.
