When I switched non-unicode support to English US ,I edited data1.hdr(?) file by notepad after copying all CD files to HDD.
And I had conclusion that it has a possibility that two files are under error. But at the installing process, just 'Bryhn_asbj?n_nor.bmp' is the problem.

I see exact file name when I switching language setting to English or swedish by notepad. Two file is 'bryhn_asbj¢rn_nor.bmp' and 'bryhn_asbjørn_nor.bmp'But at the korean default, two word is breaking. First ¢ is to strange style word(even I don't know.It is korean style but it is not exist.) and ø is to '?'.

But under US or other language , Set up is stop at 1~2% that I mentioned.Only under korean default, set up is work until bryhn_asbj?n_nor.bmp's turn.

Ok, I think we see the same thing then. It seems it may not matter that you have Korean Windows. I see the same here.

I think it is safe to say that the installation message puts an '?' in the file name as it can't handle that specific character in the file name.

I don't know about this, a sidetrack perhaps, but what about that missing 'r' in the message? The file(files) has 'r', don't they? Isn't that strange?

It would be very good to know from the powers that be
1) if the setup software is different in some way for Platinum and non-Platinum HOI (different version, different implementation, whatever).
2) why two files on this specific guy? Could be a reason, but what? I searched the forums for "bryhn" but no luck. Another guy with the same character in the file name only got one file, so I guesss that's not the reason.
3) who else got a Platinum CD? If you have, just change this setting we have talked about to Korean and see if you got the same error.

Have you tried English(UK) again after youchanged the user name?

Yes,I tried nearly every languages like as English US-UK,French and Swedish.
But the symtom is same.
Shortly,At the non-korean language, set up is stop on 1~2% with transfered error message.(transferred error-specific file name is not mentioned at the error message-The file name, directory name,or volum label syntax is incorrect)

Have you tried installing from the Harddrive again, now that the user name has changed?

And what happened when you renamed the file(s).

After editing the problematic file name , set up file (Setup.exe) occured the significant error and installing was not conducting at very first moment.I am not the expert about the programming so I don't know what is the cause.
Anyway I concluded that the editing is useless.

And by notepad If I open "Data1.hdr" File and delete bryhn_asbjorn_nor.bmp(O with slush),
I received message like this ; "An installation support file could not be installed. The data is invalid."

Meanwhile if I delete bryhn_asbjcrn_nor.bmp(C with slush),I received error report and don't conducting setup.exe.

Some combination has to work, I know it is frustrating but I don't know what else to tell you.
When you edited the file name did you also edit the file that tells the install what files to install?

First,I copied all of CD files to HDD.Then I edited data1.hdr. In there I saw file list.
I renamed one of the two files into the simple letter. Two files is Bryhn_asbjcrn(C with slush)_nor.bmp and Bryhn_asbjorn(o with slush)_nor.bmp.But At the korean default situation,I could not see them because special letter is broken.(Fisrt files is into dis-exist korean letter and second is into '?'.

I did this at first problem moment and after the solving moment of mapping error.

I am not understand what is need more for you about my information. So If you could, please tell and ask me.

Also now,I found interesting point.
I installed old version of HOI,and then patched 1.06C.It is ok and no problem.More suprising thing is,I found the 'bryhn_asbjXn_nor.bmp under the korean default xp.

I wonder why my platinum pack has the problem while patch(1.06C) is extremely OK!!

ah.... bryhn_asbjXn_nor.bmp's X is represent of broken korean letter that don't exist.

Shortly the problematic file is installed without any problem when patch 1.06C is installing on OLD version of HOI.

Ah, so it was a good idea/question to compare HOI and HOI Platinum. And perhaps those specific files.
I think answers to my 3 question would provide some good hints. Second best to a in depth QA action, at least in this stage.

I don't have platinum, but I know CORE uses another installation software than plain HOI. I wonder how eactly the setup looks like for Platinum...
Lots of speculating. With Platinum on hand, this would be much easier to answer.

If you have HOI already why do you want Platinum?

Why?Because I want to have the latest version of HOI forever because HOI is the best game I'd ever seen.
I 'm not believe internet.Homepage could close anytime. So I want to have the latest HOI with the CD.
And in fact,I did'nt want long and boring downloading.

BUT NOW,due to Platinum's problem,I forced to downloading mod and installing old HOI.

Anyway. What is the problem with my Platinum Pack?

Obviously something not meshing with the translations. No one else has reported any problems of this kind, it has to be some cobination of things on your end I just cannot tell you what they may be. :(

I understand.
Then my platinum CD become nothing?Or If I buy new platinum CD,it would be properly work?

I want conclusion for next proper act.

Ah...I have a question.At platinum ,IS Bryhn_asbjorn_nor.bmp one file ?

I assume you would have the same problem with another CD.
There can only be one file per name unless there is more than one and your language settings are changing characters to make more than one with the same name. I that case though they would just overwrite one another so I doubt it.

Is there another computer you could try installing it on?
