Hi all

So if I follow these steps (but use the new version as I have 1.06) I can have a working copy of TGW and a working copy of CORE at the same time?

Do I have to rename the copy of HOI.exe? And does it sit in TGW folder or in the original HOI folder?'

Just poor computer ignorant me :D

I advise you follow these instructions:

On a side note Kenny, I noticed a grammatical mistake in your signature - instead of it saying 'WHY ARE PEOPLE NOT READING MY AARS' it should actually read 'WHY ARE PEOPLE NOT READING MY AARSE' :)

I just had to point that out.

I think that it is much more healthy if they are reading my palms...

Don't follow those instructions. They were written for a mod-dir capable version of TGW, but that was dropped because having more than one version of the mod made tracking down bugs much harder. The URL Allenby pointed to has the up to date instructions.

Kenny, have you written AARs? If you want people to read them, it might be better to provide links in your signature. :)

Your instructions do not work.

I do a clean install of HOI, rename it to HOI1, locate the setup on the cdrom ( which is 255,000 kb not 55kb like in screenshot ) and there is NO Repair opition. But if I go to add/remove programs, add/remove HOI I get a Repair option and do so. The only thing though, that doesn't create a copy of the HOI1 folder. The new HOI folder is only 90 mb compared to the HOI1 folder which is ~400 mb

HELP

If you bought the game distributed by Strategy First. Do what I did, install new game, HOI, but this time, you name the new folder, The Great War, rather than overwrite HOI Folder. Then just follow TGW's instructions, such as install patch 1.06 to The Great War folder then extract 2 rar files. You do not need to use repair option if you got the game from Strategy First. Dunno about other companies.

Hope you can get it to work. :)

If anybody else have better method than mine, please feel freely to post. ;)

Ok it is working now :)

Installed clean HOI, copied the HOI folder to desktop, renamed it to The Great War, moved it back into the Strategy first folder, installed 1.06 to both HOI and the Great War, extracted the RAR files, ran the no time limit exe, changed the icon and after lauching the game with a shortcurt from the Great War folder and it works sorta.

I started a game with Austir-Hung and instead of getting this
scenario.jpg
.

The date is 2199 ( IE, The faction with the most victory points by 2199..... )

New to TGW

can I install TGW with 1.06c? I use CORE, can I use the same "base" HOI or should I reinstall HOI a 2nd time and then install TGW? [I know that CORE claims not to affect the base HOI stuff, but just not sure. Of course if I can not use 1.06c then the question is moot]

TGW requires that you install HOI a second time. :) As for patch 1.06c, there shouldn't be any problems in using TGW with it.

thanks for the reply. look forward to trying it out.

I get a database missmatch error when loading up the scenario. What have I done wrong?

I did make a copy of the HoI folder and named it TGw. I extracted the files into that folder and ran the no timelimit patch. started by executing the HoI.exe.

Did you delete several directories from your new TGW folder before extracting files into it? (see the installation instructions for which ones, I can't remember off the top of my head)
