Will try that...

Anyway it says just 'an excel file' is missing nothing specified. I thought it might be one of the leaders/techs/texts/minister files or something.

Seasons greetings all!

Best regards,

CAN YOU HELP ME ??

HIZBULLAH

abomortada, did you try looking through the Installation thread? Your problem might already be solved/suggestions given on how to in there.

SykoNurse if you would be so kind as to move this thread to the previously mentioned installation thread? Thanks much.

If you're getting the original HoI scenarios, it may be that the shortcut you're using is wrong. Are you using mod-dir, or a separate installation?

If a separate installation, make sure you're actually running the patched file, not the original!

If mod-dir, the above may apply, or alternatively you may not have added the mod directory parameter to the program properties.
Right-click on the shortcut, go to Properties, make sure that the "Target" box includes a space then the name of your mod-dir directory after the program path and name. Assuming you've named it TGW, then the line should say:
"C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Hearts of Iron\HoI.exe" TGW
(if you've installed HoI in a different directory, substitute the appropriate path name).

Right, can someone please tell me how to install TGW to a complete noob/idiot?
Step-by-step?

(Of course I want to run vanilla HOI as well)

Do you have enough hard disk space to have a second version of HOI?

EDIT: 2000 posts

Dont know

If you created a second version of HOI, then no matter what you did to that newly made copy, the first and original would remain unaffected.

Game Load Problem - Help!

Having a major problem loading the game - would you kindly walk me through the install process:

* I have the latest patch and patch 1.05C - I have installed both successfully.
* I install TGW with no problems.

When I run the game - it either freezes up when the main load screen states"Initializing Globals".

Or, when I try to start a game (on the one time it got through the above) it says it cannot match the database and crashes.

what are you starting the game from?
I´ve had a similar problem when trying to start the game from my desktop, it says: exel file not found, and asks if I want to submit an error report ;)

To start it I have to go directly to the second install of HOI and start it from there.

I suggest merging this with the Installation?? thread?

Anyway: "Database mismatch" problems normally happen because of duplicated ID codes in one or more files. Did you install TGW onto a completely clean, new installation, or do you have other mods already installed? These could be clashing with the new TGW files.

The installation readme is here.

Install-Load Problem

Regardless of where this thread is supposed to start (it is a site for ALL gamers isn't it - and this is my first time ever using the Forum).

I have tried a clean install; installed the 1.05 patch, installed the 1.05c patch and then TGW - no luck!!!??

Anyone have an answer?? Regardless of thread...............

Right,
1) You take the install (entire file) and copy it
2) Put it somewhere and rename it somethig catchy, like TGW ;)
3) Remove some files, cant exactly remember which, anyone?
4) Download TGW no-moddir
5) Unzip all files into the TGW-file
6) Enter the file and press trhe no-time-limit-file
7) Select it to be installed on hoi.exe
8) You´re done!

There's a link to the readme file in my post 3 above yours, which tells you exactly that. :)

3. To avoid a lot of trouble later on during the install, and to clean up the
TGW install (for example this will make no normal HoI tech pictures showing
up), we recommend you to remove the following folders from the directory
you want to install TGW to:
[...]/Hearts of Iron/ai
[...]/Hearts of Iron/db
[...]/Hearts of Iron/scenarios
[...]/Hearts of Iron/GFX/Interface/pics
[...]/Hearts of Iron/GFX/Interface/tech
NOTICE!!! This is extra important if you have downloaded the Lite version,
that contains almost no graphics, it will both save your hard disk space, and
it will prevent normal HoI pictures from appearing, replacing them with a
dummy picture.

It is indeed, but this question should have gone into the appropriate thread to keep everything tidy. :)

I read through this forum and its helpful. Just wanted to confirm that this mod should strictly be over a vanilla hoi install--and not included with other mods right? I currently have CORE and stony loaded. I want to try this mod out--but dont want to ruin my current games, just asking so I know what to do--as in- free up some space for a second install--LOl--thanks))

Yes, it is recomended that you have separate installs. It is possible to have TGW and CORE co-exist, but until there's an installer making everything right you might be better off having the separate install.
