After a rather busy term I'm back with this idea once more.

Given the time since I last thought of doing this I've gotten a bit of a better idea on how to handle the stats and the map, and now I'm wondering if there is still interest in this idea. Current planned start dates would either be 190 (Coalition against Dong Zhuo), or sometime in 194-196 period (with such fun things as Lu Bu running his own small kingdom)

Also a new map, brought to you by the powers of Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI, Major cities/provinces are represented with squares, well minor cities/provinces and Gates/Forts are represented with diamonds. (Currently working on scaling it up)

(Year 190)

HtBQwGXb

Like last time players will play a character more then they will play a nation, but unlike last time there will be created characters (as filling all the blank spots continues to prove alot more effort then its worth).

Stats have been changed a bit to
War (Controls duels, surviving assassinations, and the personal damage your character can do in a battle)
Leadership (How good troops you bring along do, also helps with maintaining order and drafting armies)
Intelligence (Helps with strategies, laying ambushes and all that, well also helps with domestic actions)
Politics (How good your character is at domestic actions (such as improving cities or constructing weapons), how good they are at plotting assassinations and other subversive actions, and helps reduce costs)
Charisma (Controls NPC relations, also helps with maintaining order and drafting armies, also helps with hunting down new NPC generals)

All of which go between 0 to 100, and can be improved with effort and time.

As for kingdoms I am currently between handling everything on a kingdom level (less stats), or provincially (which allows for easier handling and better play for player and NPC vassals, also makes rebellions, betrayals and all that a bit easier)

If there is interest I'll post some sample characters with the new stat set up along with a potential 194-196 map if people feel interested in that period.

SimRTK in Paradox? Count me in! :D

Do you want a suggestion of what could turn out to be a very beastly RTK game? Make every ruler a NPC (or GMNPC) and let the users to play only as officers in the beggining and raise through the ranks by merit.

I am interested.

Could be interesting. :)

That's actually not a bad idea, and ya I'm taking a few tips from SimRTK.

Also, Year 194-195 map incase people are interested (also corrected a few capital names that I messed up in the 190 map.)

Might wanna use a better map then, in the simrtk forum and etc. XI map was kind of bad due to the lack of allot of cities it had thrown out from X map, PT's need to be handeld with care during and after each turn. Though I suggest you find a PT flash tool that one simrtk forum used to help players out.

If you can direct me to this PT handling thing I'll see if I can use it, but if I can't copy it were unlikely to have anything like that due to my own inexperience with flash and such. Also I'll look into the X map but since I don't legally own the game I'm not sure if I'll be able to provide as fancy maps with it.

Also example characters coming later today, also will probably put an example PT turn as well just for the sake of it.

Ok, so taking votes if people want to do the 190 start or the 194 start. Also looking at Romance of the Three Kingdoms X, I can't actually find much difference between the maps, but maybe I'm looking at the wrong map.

Either way, sample character! (For 194 start)

Name: Lu Bu
Age: Unknown
Location: Pu Yang
War: 100
Leadership: 87
Intelligence: 26
Politics: 13
Charisma: 40
Gold on hand: 1000
Troops following:
None at the moment

Also a description of provincial stats (which will be in a separate list to character stats)

Name: Name of province
Ruler: Who owns the province
Prefect: Who is running the province (either the ruler or someone in his stead)
Wealth: Both a measure of how much money you have stored, and how much your province earns each month (2 to 4 turns still trying to nail it down)
Agriculture: Both a measure of how much food you have stored (for sieges) and how much your province brings in each season (Every three months)
Public Order: The higher this is the more your provinces grow on their own, lessen chance of rebellion, and help with recruiting and development
Defense: A ticker of how long the capital of the province can hold out during a siege, if this reaches 0 the province falls (though the province can also fall before this reaches 0)
Soldiers: The number of troops you have in the province
(Not on the list: Swords: Units automatically have this if your lacking any other weapon type, they contribute the least to battles)
Spears: The basic weapon, they contribute reasonably well to combat stats, especially against enemies with lots of cavalry but less against armies with lots of pikes
Pikes: More advanced, contribute more on average then Spears (and are better against armies that use mostly spears), but have no bonus vs horses
Crossbows: Contribute less then Pikes, but have no weaknesses or strengths. Also they are better to have during sieges.
Horses: Contribute the most to the battle calculator, but are the most expensive and are weak vs spears.
Siege Weapons: For attacking cities, fairly useless in combat.

Present Characters (PC and NPC):
Would go here

And an Example of the province stats at work

Name: Pu Yang Province
Ruler: Lu Bu
Prefect: Lu Bu
Wealth: 6,000, 3,200 gold per month
Agriculture: 32,000, 16,000 per season
Public Order (out of 100): 75
Defense: 150/150
Soldiers: 20,000
Spears: 8,000
Pikes: 7,000
Crossbows: 5,000
Horses: 0
Siege Weapons: 0

Present Characters (PC and NPC):
See above

For created characters (which will be everyone) we'll be taking the SimRTK approach right out and use a weighted system. So you have 100 to put between the 5 stats, and depending on how much weight you put into them the more your stats will be at start up, and you'll receive a number of bonus points to distribute around the stats you'll receive.

So for example for now (weight to stat ratios will be included in the sign up thread)
Name: Da Huan
Age: 22
War: 40
Lead: 30
Int: 10
Pol: 10
Cha: 10

Would come out like this
Name: Da Huan
Age: 22
War: 79/81
Lead: 72/75
Int: 50/55
Pol: 50/55
Cha: 50/55
Bonus: 14
(each side of the / are current and max in the stat* respectively)
*At character creation

Depending on reactions to these stats and the vote on the map, sign up has a pretty good chance of going up this week.
