CKII 2D graphics were superior to EU4. However, their Icon, CoA and portrait's quality is somewhat going down recently. On other hand, new Native council's hat, adviser's portrait, Hinduism Gods and native improvement's graphics have a very solid and consistent quality. If they could replace some out dated religious and governmental icons, EU4 can outclass CKII in term of graphic.

The artwork is really nice in CK2, with the stain glass windows and parchments and all that sort of thing.

EUIV's interface is a bit more minimalist in that sense.
It's less ornate but still looks great.
But the EUIV map graphics are slightly better IMO.

Graphics?!?

Pish and tosh. Pish and tosh, I say!

I did not pick up EU1 back in the days of children and diapers because I was looking for purty pitchers!

I got exactly what I was looking for, remarkably period-piece game play that kept me up all night in between feedings.

Pfft! Graphics.

yeah, having to click multiple buttons to get to what you need instead of one is very important

Lol, trolled by a dev, I love it :p

Honestly, I am very satisfied with the EUIV interface, its very detailed and has helpful tooltips.

As for graphics, CK2 looks better IMO, not by a ton though. You have to remember though that CK2 has been out longer and has had upgrades made the the map to improve quality. EUIV is less than a year old.

EUIV has better terrain and unit models, textures, effects. Almost everything.

I have never studied the unit models, so I can't comment on that, but CKII has better looking interface, terrain and textures. By far. They don't even compare. Only heavily modified can EUIV compare to vanilla CKII. However, heavily modified CKII beats heavily modified EUIV easily. That being said, I think Victoria II looks better than vanilla CKII. It is the best looking game they have made. It also has the best music (CKII comes in a very close 2nd) and gameplay (followed by CKII and EUIII. I have not tried HoI, so can't comment on that).

please don't. the less comparisons of HOI 3 to other PI games, the better. think of Atari 2600 game graphics vs Nintendo 64 graphics.

EDIT: though from what we've seen from HOI 4 so far, it's already looking way better than 3.

You guys are kidding, right?

After playing EU4, CK2 looks amazingly 'oldschool' despite its recent release. The muted tones, square rigid interface, clunky borders and map models/textures all feel quite outdated now.

Which isn't to say it's not a fairly attractive game... but really... cmon'.

You really think that! It's not outdated at all. Both Games UI and Map look just fine.

You guys are getting "Graphics" and "Aesthetics" mixed up.
Fine, EUIV might have better graphics than the other Paradox games, but aesthetically it is not even close to Victoria II or CKII.
