I was talking about this with Bocaj last night, and we pretty much agree that Elvis has left the building here, or is leaving soon. The evidence is plain for all to see; games having trouble filling rosters, most games only majors played, vets quitting mid-session because they game is just not worth it anymore, smaller number of games with smaller numbers of players. There are a few great games running now, but it ain't how it used to be. Without the new maps it'd probably be even quieter.

I've been hoping to get in on a new game with some of the old players I've never had a chance to play with, and the best of the new; perhaps a finale for eu2 mp for me before the EU3 beta. I was thinking that to accomodate the most players possible, we could run it on a random tax/mp scenario on Kasperus' map and have people start around the world. The best day would probably be Sunday, and DU is finishing up soon.

Thoughts? Commiseration? Contradiction?

I must disagree, the community will certainly not die before EU3 comes out. We have a a game every day I think and on wednesdays have 3, 2 or 3 on fridays and more over the weekend.

Anytime that games are being abandoned due to lack of players is nearly always because of competetion from games on the same day.

Still a big game like that would be fun anyhow :D

Meh, the only thing that could kill the EU2MP community is the allowance of many MP'ers into the EU3 Beta...

Which we know ain't gonna happen...

With Eu3 coming in 1 yr, I'll wait for it before beginning a new game. I suspect some will do the same some months before the release.

Only fools like you Bob will play until the end :p

I really don't understand that, a game takes less than 5/6 months to play through, more than enough for two more games.

That is if EU3 comes out at the appointed date and totally MP playable

And I can't join the beta because of being a minor and thus not a great idea to start trying to sign NDAs :D

Damn people, i just joined EU2 MP and almost on days i see thread: "oh, oh we gonna die, eu2 id dead... god help us..." ...
plz at least try to be more optimistic, and dont say that something is over, but say that something is beginning, like nervously waiting for eu3:)

I know what Kanth means, lately the worries about the community dying are a bit exagerated. I only joined the community recently, and don't know how it use to be like before, but I still see a great number of games going on; new faces are constantly appearing in the EU MP scene.

What would be very useful is having some games like the ones balinus GM'd, guiding newbies' first steps through MP. I enjoyed them a lot.

Players are continually coming and going with Eu2. I think this is largely a matter of perspective.

I swear, as I am a part of the new generation of EU2 Mp players, that i will not stop playing EU2, even if when EU3 comes. ( Mostly because i don't think that my computer will handle it.)

well, what you don't understand is the "Weaning time" needed for some people. We aren't all young people with lots of energy anymore ;)

Stop pretending to be old and do what I and Fnuco say

and "Weaning Time" is not a word nor a phrase :D

True, but the death of EU2 MP is near. After EU3 comes out it will start to decline. But EU3 will be the only reason, there are enough new players joining games at the moment.

I think that understaiding of all endings of all things are always under KISS rule, and eu3 will be main reason, as Miozozny said.

Just the last few weeks I have assisted 3 new players to enter our community.

If you had any stats to substantiate your claims I would be inclined to agree, but it is as usual: just general statements as if you were all gods and know everything.

To see people like Hive add to the debate is quite hilarious. You Hive surely have a good view of the frequency of coming and going of players :p

You are all pathetic. :D

Gamlasemlan, I like your attitude. And wellcome to Animal Farm! :)

John as usual has a good point and excels in formulating it in a polite way, in sharp contrast to myself. ;)

Long live EU2!
