I noticed that these games all make a big selling from chinese players on steam
CK2: more than 35K copies
EU4: more than 37K copies
HOI4: more than 57K copies
Stellaris: more than 97K copies

And all these games supported chinese by moding it

So i want know is it possible to add chinese language in game
Or how many copies still needed to support chinese

From a recent EUIV thread.
Chinese is completely ruled out for EU4 because it runs an old version of the Clausewitz engine. Note that language support may change in future games (but I don't have the latest info on that).

CKII is probably out too as it's running on an even older version of the Clausewitz engine and so it likely suffers from the same problems.
As for newer games like HOIIV and Stellaris I couldn't say.

Chinese fans can make it display chinese, Paradox owns the code but can not do anything?
 
HOI3 has 20K chinese players, and HOI4 increases to 50K chinese players after supporting mod. will it be better if support chinese languge? what about CK2,EU4,and Stellaris?
think someone answered this for you on the ck2 forums iirc, ck2 and eu4 have to use single character and cant handle two character languages like chinese.
 
We sell our games to people in many many countries in the world, we can't localise for all of them. Aside from China we've had similar comments (in some cases demands) from Turkey, Japan, Russia, and others I can't think of right now.

The answer is always that our marketing department constantly evaluates all these markets to see if a localisation makes economic sense; so far it has not for those PDS games, it seems. Cities:Skylines has Chinese, if you're interested in that game.

The other point is that old games like CK2 and EU4 are never going to be completely re-written at this late stage in their lives.

Since HOI4 and Stellaris each sold nearly 10k still has no chinese localization
even CK3 and EU5 may not support chinese, cause CK2 and EU5 sold just 2-3K, and i think is is not possible sold more than 10K by the time

I don't buy the banned reason, HOI banned from hoi or hoi2,but all chinese player brought game from Hongkong, you should know it, only HK itself can not contribute that much selling

Pls tell me, what you mean by ' i can play skylines? a Russian and Polish tell you they want CK and EU localization, and you tell them to play HOI4?

Stellaris sold nearly 100K is not enough, Russia,Potugal,Spain,France,Brazil less than China, but localizaed
Just tell me how many is enough, so i can tell other chinese fans to buy to reach the number

Games that have been sold do not count because, well, they are already sold - we can't charge them extra for Chinese localisation done after they bought.

As I suspect you are well aware, there is no such magic number. It's a ROI calculation. Clearly marketing have decided it is not worth it as yet.
