Been an entire year since I made this thread, DLC2 still isn't released. That is absolutely wild.
It will never be released. The longer time goes on the fewer people will remember and/or care about it. I truly sympathize with the people who pre-ordered the DLC and think it's shameless what Romero and Paradox have done about it (nothing), but it will never see the light of day. Romero has already moved on to an FPS.

There’s hints that it’s being worked on. So everyone is quiet now. No evidence, of course.

If this game had the same versatile modding support and community Imperator had, it could have the same resurgence that game is having right now directly due to content creators hyping the game up. But EoS is magnitudes deader than Imperator right now, so I don't think that will be happening.

The problem is Imperator is relatively easy to mod as it's similar to other games like EU4 and such. EoS is very different. Romero was supposed to release mod tools to allow the community to mod, but they never released them. So the only mods we can do are pretty surface-level.

If this game is actually being worked on again can we expect any kind of dev diaries? As at the moment it feels like we’ve been given a nod and a wink, which someone had to literally beg for, which resulted in shutting everybody up about it.

The problem is the lack of even a rough timeline. It could be 20 years before we see any kind of DLC and they would still be technically fulfilling what they have told us to date - and because of their manipulation around the Steam rules, we cant even ask for a refund.

I think we all know legal action isnt likely to go anywhere - and the impacted audience is likely very small by this point, so we cant expect any kind of industry reaction outside of these forums.

That leaves the slim hope that someone at Paradox actually cares about the player/customer. Personally, I will be shocked if we even get real acknowledgement in 2024 and any kind of movement (which I doubt will ever be more than a refund for the second DLC only) prior to 2028.

It is disgraceful.

It is indeed disgraceful that they're still taking preorders for an expansion that is probably never going to come out. But I guess it takes a major backlash for Paradox to actually do anything about this.

People should honestly start emailing major news outlets and hope one of them picks up the story, I might do that myself honestly.

Edit: This is not a call for a boycott or a petition so I''ve not broken any forum rules.
I'm just tired of no one doing anything about this, I've now emailed some of the larger news outlets and hope that either Paradox DOES SOMETHING about this or the backlash comes and they're hopefully forced to.

Things have been steadily going worse since PDX went public. As long as the investors get their money, the investors stay happy. And as long as money keeps coming in, the customer and quality of service doesn't really matter.

Paradox, the Manchester United of gaming companies (along with EA and Activision Blizzard).

I fully understand that the lack of information is a major sticking point and I really wish I could tell you more alas I don't have anything to share ><. Trust me when I tell you that I'm hounding as many people as I can about this on pretty much a weekly basis as I also want the second DLC to come out (I really enjoy Empire of Sin!) but there's only so much I can do. When there's more information to share I'll shout it from the rooftops unless someone beats me to it.
@TinyWiking It's been a full year and one day since you made this post.

When do things get to the point where someone at Paradox actually cares?

I've got no info to share and just to make it clear I'm not part of the EoS team, I'm the support manager, which means I'm not always in the loop of what's going on. I mentioned in January that Fred had confirmed we have a new developer working on the second DLC but I've not heard anything since then and I don't know when there will be information to share.

Let’s be real. The game was released on December of 2020. Last update was November 2021. There is no way any update nor that DLC is coming to this game. Some one need to pull the plug and officially give up on this project.

EDIT:
Just last week, Microsoft officially announced that Redfall (and sadly Arkane studio itself) was abandoned and will not get promised DLC. While it is still unclear on how they are making up for preordered DLC, they did officially announced the situation. As the publisher of Empire of Sin, Paradox needs to do the same.

So, may we ask you who is part of the EoS team so concerned customers could ask them those questions.

I am just gonna put it here that i have the game on wishlist but only would push the buy button once the missing DLC is done as I have no intention of supporting this kind of situation with my money.

There has been no official announcement that the game is still being worked on in over 2 years yet the second undelivered DLC is still available for purchase on Steam. This is a ridiculous situation to be in and a shame on Paradox. Those of us who purchase your games deserve better, frankly.

Actually it seems the second DLC has now been removed from Steam. So that’s the confirmation I guess.

@TinyWiking
Does an EOS team even exist? You are the only Paradox employee to even publicly acknowledge the existence of the game for several years now, much less mention a second DLC - and you arent even part of the team, per your own admission. It leaves a really bad taste in the customers' mouths.

I know it isnt fair to keep putting the question to you, but Paradox has given us ZERO other alternative. At this rate, you will retire before we see this game mentioned by anyone actually "on the team" and we will still be out in the cold - customers who bought a product they will never receive.

And, as others have noted, the removal of DLC 2 from the Steam Store is in direct contradiction to what you have told us here. The situation was ridiculous 18 months ago - it is something beyond entirely unacceptable at this point.

Seeing as you, @TinyWiking also have forum permissions, might you pin or somehow promote this post so it sticks out as soon as you go on here? Not that is necessarily needed (this post already has thousands of views), but it would help bring a greater light to this.
