Issue with launching the game after installing the Tourism update

Hey Survivors!

We're currently investigating launch issues with the game after installing today's free Tourism update. It seems that the problem occurs mostly for Windows 7 users, but we are still looking for the root of it.

If you're having issues with launching the game today, please make sure to report it under this post.

Don't forget to mention:

• What is your operating system version?
• Do you have any mods/assets installed?
• On which PC platform do you play (Steam, GOG, etc.)?
• What is your setup (GPU, graphics card, etc.)?

If possible also include a log file from: \Users\INSERTNAME\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs
And the save files from: \Users\INSERTNAME\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\17 digit folder name

You can save both files in Notepad. They do not include any sensitive information, but if it's more comfortable for you, you can also include them in a support ticket.

EDIT
We might also require crash dump files from \Users\INSERTNAME\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\crashes/ folder. We're looking for both .crash and .dmp files. They would help a lot in our investigation!

Hi,

first, thanks for the fast support and the amazing game, discovered it a few days ago and I am totally hooked
Since the new update, my game crashes after a few minutes of playing an existing savegame. Haven´t tried a new savegame jet.
First, the audio stops for a second or so, then the screen goes grey and the whole game crashes to desktop.

Running into similar issues on Xbox. Played an existing save game and it crashes within minutes of playing. Wasn’t an issue yesterday (as of 10pm on March 14). I do play with mods (choggi and Silva mostly) and have never had any issues. Today however I noticed that the warnings for disabled mods (content restrictions) are no longer popping up (not an issue just an observation) looking into my mod list every mod is now in a new order and the mods available are now limited to three cat mods by some Tomas guy. I also haven’t tried a new game as I am working on an achievement that is only minutes from completing... however with these crashes the game is unplayable.

playing on Xbox one (don’t know what you guys need for consoles)

   few more installed but not in use. Never really had issues with the mods before and have been using these same sets for multiple playthroughs

I've this problem. The game crashes on startup, with a white screen and an error message. I've tried to run as administrator or set compatibility, but does not work. The game ran perfectly until yesterday, but today after the update just doesn't run.

OS: win 7
Mods: yes, just one or two anyway
Platform: epic
Setup: i5 4670k, gtx 1660, 16 GB ddr3

Hi,

Just wanted to let you guys know that this issue is resolved for me after upgrading to Windows 10.

Just spent the last 4 hours upgrading, and now SM loads correctly, whereas before I was getting a white screen and a crash to desktop.

I'm not suggesting this is the fix, but would seem to suggest it is indeed a Windows 7 issue.

EDIT: Yes, I love SM that much!

my specs are:

OS: Win7 64bit
Mods/DLCs: Laika DLC and this one free DLC
Plattform: Epic Games Store
Setup: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3,40 GHz, Geforce GTX 1650, 8 GB RAM

Just fell in love with this games a few Days ago. There is a lot of promotion around for this game at the moment. Very upsetting that the games doesnt work anymore.

EDIT: Reinstalling the game and the Epic Games Launcher and updating the graphics driver didnt bring any results.

Having same problem crash/no load on start up since new patch.

Setup: Intel core i7-5820K 3.30GHz , NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti

Mods: many, but I've renamed the mod folder so that none were present with the same crash. Modlist attached.
PC Platform: GOG
Setup: Intel i5-3570, 16 GB RAM, NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB

There is no new log file created but I'll attach the crash files.

Also, I started by uninstalling all old packages and installing the new ones. Saw the crash so I backed them all out and tried again with just the core install package with the same result.

I am also having a similar issue. Posting here to provide crash files.

OS: Windows 10
CPU: Intel i5 6th gen 6400
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Radeon RX 480

Game will crash after a few minutes loading into a save game. There is a little stutter right before, I have tried keeping the camera still and running on the slowest speed without improvement. It also may be triggered by menus/information windows popping up.

Loving the game and just downloaded the terraforming upgrade. This is the only mod I have installed currently. Hoping you can fix it soon so I can get back to feeding my latest addiction!

Hello! I am having this crash. I'm on Windows 7, I have no mods or addons installed, and I'm playing on the epic store. I have a GTX 650 Ti, and an AMD Phenom II X4 processor.

It crashes the moment I launch it.

Same issue as many others, crashing immediately on startup. White screen with crash notification, looks identical as screenshot posted by Budello above. Did not have any issue just this morning until the update.

Just got the Epic version a few days ago
i5 2430m, amd 6630m

Between this and the suicide spiral I'm reading about, I was hoping I could roll back the update until this gets ironed out but it does not seem there is any possible way on Epic. Dang, I was just getting hooked!!

i have the game wont start problem also
\os is win 7 64 bit
has a couple mods one is the treeplanter keeps working after 40% and the other is the telescope keeps finding new techs
i have all of the offical dlc

also i dont upgrade to win 10 because i tried already. there are no win 10 drivers for some of the devices in my machine.
i bought this game because it was done and it worked on win 7 great till yesterday. i was in the middle of a great game when the patch dropped and fubared the whole thing. i think the previous version should be put on an another branch for us who cant run it untill this clusterf**k is sorted out

Well, good news: My game is working again!

All I did is update all my drivers and Windows 10 x64 (Home) to the latest Version 20H2.
I allso saved every few minutes manually in the beginning, maybe that helped also.

I was able to play for over an hour, without a single crash in the old savegame.
Here my latest Logfile from the successful session, maybe this helps to investigate.

Anyway, i will report if the game starts crashing again, good luck to the rest of you getting the game to run again!

EDIT: Game works fine, however: I allso had the bug, that colonist dont´t age anymore, as discribed in another thread.
The suggested Mod fixed the issue!
