So that you can understand the work that went into making it, which has nothing to do with ease of installation. The point is, you're playing something that is a free addition to a game you're playing. There's nothing wrong with offering criticism of it, or pointing out bugs - Those things are needed to help it improve. I just got irritated that you called it a demo. I can't claim to have played many CK2 total conversion mods, but of the ones I have played, this is far and away the easiest to install and play, and the most fleshed out.

There's also the factor of Essos - As big as Westeros is, Essos it nearly two and a half times it's size. That's a lot of characters for your system to keep track of, which may be contributing to the crashes. I believe(Not sure) that there's a mod the cuts Essos out of the game, so that may help stabilize it, if you can find it.

Edit: I may have been a bit overzealous defending the mod. I'm sorry if I seemed to attack you for no reason, but like I said, try to understand that this is something the programmers are doing in their free time, and they've put a lot of work and effort into it. Explore it more fully, try other characters and bookmarks - Try to experience the entirety of the mod before you call it a demo. If ctds permit, of course.

When I say demo I don't mean that there isn't content, it's the extremely narrow window for experiencing it. I have tried other characters and so on but I haven't yet played a game that took me through 40 years before CTD happened every time. I've played most of the major mods on the forum and this one is by far the least functional measured by how long I can play it before it stops working. This is not something I'm triumphant about however, I like game of thrones, I like what I've managed to play of this mod and I'm sad that I can't play it, Elder Kings is nice and all but there's so different stuff I want to mess around with in GoT.

I'm fully aware it's a free mod made by volunteers, and you'll notice I'm not complaining about wanting my money back, I've simply stated my experience with it. If demo is a curse-word I wasn't aware of it.
 
I have been able to bypass a CTD that was happening at a specific date (30 january or february). I was leading an army and at the same time I was in the middle of an event where I was invited to the wedding of someone from my family. I remember that I found it weird that I was at 2 places the same time, so after hitting the CTD date 7 or 8 times, I resigned from leading an army, and I was able to go further than the 30.
So I thought that was the cause of it, but with my next character, a similar situation occured and no CTD at a specific date happened...
Still, I wanted to pass it on, maybe it can help.
 
Indeed the crashing seems completely random (upon loading the map, few years in, half an hour in....). Today I played for 2-3 hrs and crashed 3 times.
First game with this version a few days ago was better. Probably crashed only once in 10 hour run (Danaerys last bookmark).

Just want to add that this latest version the ctd's are constant, i average one every few years of gameplay and they
seem completely random. I have played previous versions and this was not as prevalent, just brought it up for testing purposes i totally appreciate the massive amount of work that went into this mod and will hope for a more stable version in the future.

I haven't seen too many CTDs in my recent games so cannot really contribute to much.

I will however point out that the errors in AGOT_cb_types.txt are related to the line "job_castellan = { remove_title = job_castellan }" that shows up 3 times in the file. Commenting out that line makes the parse errors go away. I generally dont like to see errors in the log file so I will tend to do local fixes like this. I am wondering why this would be an issue here but not in an event file like regency_events.txt. I sort of wonder why this is required and why not just assigning the job_title would not be enough as the engine would remove the prior job holder automatically I would hope but then I dont have experience there.
 
I've had crashes while clicking on people, and when major wars end. I love this mod and hope a more stable version is coming soon.
 
had to stop playing because game keeps crashing all the damn time, sometimes i makje it 30 years in and then BAM saves dont load anymore and game crashes, and no i dont use mods
 
I was fortunate and made it 200 years with one dynasty before my first CTD, a good four or five hours without even a sign of anything wrong. I sighed but had just saved so it was no real issue, or so I thought. Now the game won't go for more than, if I am lucky, an hour or so before a CTD. Look I love this mod and the concept behind it, but I honestly don't know how much more of this is really tolerable. Call it complaining or whatever you wish, other than the CTD's this mod is amazing!
 
I'm sorry to say but we cannot help with random CTDs. I do not get CTDs in any mod unless I play for a very very very long time in which case I may get a quick CTD but can just reboot the game and continue again.
 
Would it help any if we uploaded crash logs and save states for you to look at? Even if it's only by being one of the guinea pigs in the maze, I want to help in whatever little way I can.

The logs and saves generally dont help us I'm afraid.

I've even tried running GOT on 3 different computers, all to the same results. It comes somewhat late compared to usual crashes but eventually the point of crash is always reached, unlike other mods I could play for hundreds of years or the vanilla. It's a shame.

Indeed, I'm playing a campaign in vanilla (with multiple mods) that started on the Charlemagne bookmark and I've just reached 1066 with no problems.

Watch me just jynx myself, I would cry if anything bad happened to it.
 
Going to add to this as well...

Use to love to play multiplayer LAN with my friend, but in the last few versions the CTD's during Multiplayer sessions became unbearable.

Then I started to just play by myself because the single-player was far more bearable even with a few CTD's.

Now I'd say the last few releases are pretty much a write off, the Mod is un-completely unplayable and I NEVER plan for long term games.

So much lost potential with these crashes really, it's a shame.
