Some new stuff underway:

Now that I have good coverage I can focus more on improving quality :)

Kazoo i was wondering if you were going to do some icons with the SS twin lightning bolts symbol oin them. The reason i ask is im playing Fernandos excellent wif2 mod and he has distinct SS units for infantry, motorized inf, mech, and armor units.

Yeah, if it's only inf, mot, mech and armor I can do them. But you need to fit them into the wif2 model system yourself I think, or tell me which filenames to use. I don't know how their unit types are defined.

Small update on the work: I'm working on several areas of improvement at the moment. I want to add depth (more minor's models), width (covering major nation's general models with at least an image with a badge or flag) and quality (improving older icons to a nicer looking one). This WILL take time, and I hope that since the mod is already quite comprehensive you will be able to wait for this release. Also, with a possible new patch coming up I don't want to release anything and then having to remake a whole lot of stuff. So in short, I will wait at least until the release of the official 1.03 patch before releasing new icons.

A couple of teasers (since you might not see these too often in-game) :)

Kazoo, I want you to know that I check this thread usually once per day to see if you've updated your skif package, lol. Although I'm impatient, I'm still extremely grateful for your work and it is very professional looking, adds great depth to the game for me. I do hope that you would consider adding the SS to the icons for WiF2 mod (and also maybe the rangers/gurka/ski infantry units for America, UK, and USSR) even if they are the same picture as the regular model but with a slightly different icon (lol I'm using your UoB mtn troops as my UK gurka units...it works in a pinch). If it would be of any assistance (provided that you decide to do that) I can get you the model numbers of all the units and post them here or send you a pm. Thanks again for your awesome mod :)

Yeah, exactly, I just need the model numbers and then I could actually make these as a sideproject. Shouldn't take too long if it's just special units.

Do it anyway you like, forum or pm does not matter.

Okay here goes:

German SS Infantry goes from 1936 onward to 1958
Ger SS Infantry 36 = ger_model_41_0.bmp ________Ger SS Infantry 48 = ger_model_41_4.bmp
Ger SS Infantry 39 = ger_model_41_1.bmp ________Ger SS Infantry 51 = ger_model_41_5.bmp
Ger SS Infantry 42 = ger_model_41_2.bmp ________Ger SS Infantry 54 = ger_model_41_6.bmp
Ger SS Infantry 45 = ger_model_41_3.bmp ________Ger SS Infantry 58 = ger_model_41_7.bmp

Ger SS Mot. Inf 35 = ger_model_42_0.bmp (This follows the same mot models to the 1960 model)
Ger SS Mot. Inf 60 = ger_model_42_7.bmp

Ger SS Mech. 42 = ger_model_43_0.bmp (Again this follows the same mech models to the 1960 model)
Ger SS Mech. 60 = ger_model_43_5.bmp

Ger SS Armor I = ger_model_44_0.bmp (This also follows the regular tank models to model number VIII)
Ger SS Armor VIII = ger_model_44_7.bmp

English Gurka's are next and their tech is based on MtN tree (they're basically british spec forces)
English Gurka model starts with the Mtn 1930 tech and follows that tree to end at the 1963 tech(10 models)
Gurka model 1930 = eng_model_45_8.bmp
Gurka model 1963 = eng_model_45_17.bmp

Soviet Ski Infantry follows regular infantry tech years and starts with the year 1939 and ends at the 1962 tech (8 models)
Ski Infantry 1939 = sov_model_47_0.bmp
Ski Infantry 1962 = sov_model_47_7.bmp

US Rangers are just like the UK Gurkas (starts with the 1870 mtn division tech but i think if you started at 1930 that'd be plenty good)
US Rangers 1930 = usa_model_46_8.bmp
US Rangers 1963 = usa_model_46_17.bmp

AND....Apparently Japs have 'suicide' pilots (his image is of a jap pilot)...no year on them though...idk what to do with these...up to you i guess lol.
model 1 = jap_model_49_0.bmp
model 2 = jap_model_49_1.bmp

Well that's all the model numbers and its alot more than I realized when I started looking at them. Hopefully won't take to long if you decide to do them all. I'd be more than happy if you just want use the same pictures as the regular models and just change the little icon (like the SS or uk/usa special forces icon) in the bottom right corner, but its entirely up to you. Whatever you feel like doing, I'm sure I'll love them. Let me know if this is all you need or if there is something else I can do to help. Thanks again for your work.

Just want to say a quick thanks for this mod, loving the realistic pictures and all, better than francescos imo :)

Especially the aerial pictures, for instance for USAF as the vanilla images were a little too generic.

Appreciated, thanks!

BayouBruiser: Seems reasonable, I'll start working on these. As usual I can't promise any date due to RL stuff, but should be quite fast. I'll use both old mountain/infantry/tank models as well as some new, specialized ones that I can find. Some unique stuff in other words ;)

hello kazoo!
Congratulations on your splendid mod! since I download the game looks better! haha:D:D
to all this, I would like to ask if you could do the same but for the modern day mod scenario? So if you had time always clear!
a friendly hello! still working hard! your efforts are the joys of hundreds of people!;)

Thankyou. I'm not sure I want to start working on some MDS icons, it would be a really huge task. Right now I want to focus on improving the set for DH full. I can do small, limited projects but not large ones.

The WiF2 mod is one of these, it was a really fun challenge and a very limited one. Only 63 icons all in all, and it's finished now. Here you all go:

Hi kazoo
that's about it?

Hi, I guess you're using the vanilla models.csv-list? The issue with that is that the Me-262 is the last propeller-fighter ("Advanced Fighter") model, which I find a little bit strange. In my list it's the "Basic Turbojet Fighter" instead, wich feels more appropriate. The icons are adapted to my list, and not to the vanilla one. That's why these things happen, and it's a known issue. In many other aspects I try to adhere to the vanilla models list for double compatibility, but sometimes these things happen.
