desc = "By the time Abi Amir executed the Wali ad-Dawla, he was already the defacto ruler of the Caliphate.The greatest families in the empire were either in his pay or dreaded the consequences of opposing him.However, in 1715 about the time when the Wali of Iran was disgraced and executed, some persons within the palace joined hands to replace Suleiman with the young Emir Mohammed IV of Basrah and overthrowing Abi Amir.The conspirators included the Persian Zakaria , a former servent of Caliph Mubarak,Qadi Abdul Malik,Imam Mandar (a descendent of Imam Hussien), Qadi Yassin of Damascus and the poet Yusuf al-Rumi.Zakaria undertook to assasinate Suleiman.As he was a former employee he was allowed entrance in the palace and also granted permission to see Suleiman.He was about to stab him when a servant caught him.The conspiracy failed.Qadi Abdul Malik, and the others were hanged in front of the palace as a warning to the rest.Abu Amir saw in this incident , the hand of disgruntled theologians.He apprehended they might stage a more organized opposition against him.He was anxious to forestall that situation.At this time, the Ulema were in an angry mood on the account of the growth of *Occidental* learning and Mutazelite philosophy which have flourished due to the enlightened teachings of Imam Hussien and Caliph Ismail.For a clever politican this was opportune time to exploit the situation.Why not win over the theologians by posing as a champion of orthadoxy?He banned the study of philosophy .He ordered that the libraries of Jeruslem, Isfahan and Tabriz be purged of all books which fostered free thought.The books were either thrown into the Tigris or deputed to flames.The act of vandelism was followed by a flattering atitude towards the theologians.He paid them greater respect and invited them to state functions.In this way Abi Amir was able to silence the Ulema, but at the same time, angered the Tanweerian Nobility and educated masses of the Caliphate.The Abbasid House however, went into hiding, fearing for reprisals by the hands of Abi Amir, and as for Suleiman, the adolscent Caliph was last heard 'sporting with the tangled locks' of the beauties in the harem."

The Abi Amir Dictatorship, the rise of his dynasty, or the Abbasids remain in power, and a Great (Proggressive) Caliph arises who institutes a Majlis and makes much needed reforms and Industrialization in the Caliphate.Either way has goodies and negatives
