Why are the "House of Cerdic" and the "House of Wessex" separate, given all Kings of Wessex, and later England, have descended from Cerdic in some fashion? Surely, if all the Cadet branches of Caput are considered one house, likewise the Cerdings?
I’m digging into my ancestors history, and Aflred is one of them (I found my connection with him), but he was most likely not a family member of Cerdic. His grandfather Egbert was most likely a Kentish fraud, as he wanted to justify his claim on the throne of Wessex.

Alfred is the only English King to be called "the Great", the others are either not English or not Kings, or both.

This feels like a good time to ask about something that has been bothering my for a while:

Why are the "House of Cerdic" and the "House of Wessex" separate, given all Kings of Wessex, and later England, have descended from Cerdic in some fashion? Surely, if all the Cadet branches of Caput are considered one house, likewise the Cerdings?

Why when you play as the Sons of Lodbrok in the 867 start are you and all your brothers separate houses, instead of all of the same dynasty (the one your grandfather Sigurd Ring had)?

Because the game prefers them to be non-dynastic so that you have to actually build a dynasty rather than starting with one.

So I don't disagree that Alfred was a great (heh, see what I did there?) figure, but when we set up historical rulers in HF one of our rules was that we should try and refrain from stacking historical bloodlines.

And I hear what you might say "But Snow Crystal, dear dev and overlord, there isn't any other bloodlines in that dynasty, is there?", and you would be right. There isn't. Yet.
Wait hold up.
Hold up.

Let's think this through.
1) You said the reason he wasn't give a bloodline, is because you don't want to stack bloodlines.
2) You said his dynasty doesn't have a bloodline yet.

Now, the only reason I can think of for why you wouldn't have the other bloodline you want to add implied by 2, is if the character whose bloodline it would be, does not exist yet. As in, they aren't in the history files.
This would imply that a future update will revamp the english and possibly more history files.

Combined with the "Atlantis Rising" potential leak... Am I spotting a potential hint at a new start date?

For the next major update, I have added some, yeah. Including one for a descendant of Alfred. I sort of had to.
Could you give an approximate ETA? Is it a major update without an expansion, aka 3-4 months, or is it accompanied by DLC material aka 7-8 months?

Thank you guys for not giving up on this game. Truly. For many reasons.

Atlantis Rising? Am I out of the loop? What leak? IIRC, they've said there are no more start dates being added.
There is a big chance I'm not going to explain this 100% accurately but you could just google it if you're not satisfied with what I have to say. Atlantis Rising is the codename for a folder in all PDX games that contains all QnA versions of updates that PDX makes. So basically stuff that's already coded and needs to be tried is added on that folder to be tested and if it works its merged in the rest of the folders and made live, so the public doesn't have this folder. Someone didn't knew about this and saw the folder on a dev stream and thought he figured out a leak.

Will you add a Bloodline for non karlings who created the HRE. Something that would grant prestige and increases the chance to be elected?

After the ottonian dynasty died out the nobles prefered to elect those who where related to the ottonian dynasty.
Prior to that time he was known as Alfred the Adequate.

Some people but also referred to him as Alf of Melmac. No cat was safe in his court.

Elizabeth II, our current monarch, can claim direct descent from Alfred and through him the legendary Cerdic.

Wait wait wait wait, the Saxe Coburg filth are actually directly related to historical kings of England. Damn, your shaking my worldview here, I always thought of them as modern upstarts with very little claim to the throne prior to their german links to Victoria.

Realistically next update will be out before Britain's out (see what I did there? :p )

Speaking of Brits and not getting out, will we also get the von Babenberg bloodline to charge more ransom from prisoners? The prisoner should also be able to go in debt and raise his taxes at home to pay for it!

If you're taking requests, how about a bloodline for Ali? His bloodline is very historically important. If you want to get fancy, you could even make having his bloodline a requirement to create the Shia Caliphate.

Possibly, but descent from Cerdic is claimed even today by the British Royal Family.

Which doesn't actually make a lot of sense with all the Karlings running around, does it?
