I have a suggestion, instead of a whip to encourage people to write AARs, could we try with the carrot? Give whoever who posts a good AAR a bonus of something? One free tech? 1k gold? Something else?

And Gaius Marius I, our Byzantium player is the strong silent type. He rarely speaks during a session and he almost never speaks in the forum. I have his, so far only know post, as a quote. With the direction the game is heading, Byzantium will not be on the periphery.

Session wasnt really long enough for AAR anyway.

All mine would be is daming burgundy though. Red devil that he is :)

You can get an AAR out of me simply by calling my work and demanding no 12 hour days... Then I'll get done with one... The problem is by the time I even get close to finishing one we have a new session and I'm still not sure how to post all this...

Use one of the two AAR threads, "Great Game" by KoM or "March Through Time" by Trav

I've already posted two in rhe MTT thread... I just haven't had the time to write ones lately... Shoot even playing Sundays has required me to juggle events and people's demands for the last four or five sessions and thats just trying to get 5 hours for myself...

if he says little, than surely he'll soon find himself on the periphery, as the diplomacy passes him by... or is diplomacy not as critical here as with EU2 or Vic?

I am usually to busy chasing evil french from my lands to pay much attention to that part of the world.

But we have gotten used to do diplomacy with Blackeye during rehosts.

I do not think this is a good idea. AARs should be a freely creative enterprise, done voluntarily. There is really no reason to reward lazy slobs like me, who have plenty of time on their hands, over hardworking types like Dom, who are making a real sacrifice just to play. And besides, while they are certainly nice, AARs are not critical for good gameplay.

Another point is that the AAR writer gets to write propaganda; the rewards of setting the agenda for discussion are subtle, but real. Usually winners write history, but in this case, the history-writers may become winners.

Okey, we have hit a bad vein of crashes in the two latest sessions. We (Trav, RP and myself) thinks that it might have something to do with Travs ISP, since he crashed atleast twice. So we might try some other host, the suggestion is either RP or I nominate myself. But RP have more rights, since he is already back-up host.

It is not so much about rights, it is about uploadspeeds. I have 400KB/down,- and 96KB/upload a sec and I have an AMD 2500 with 512MB mem.

Okay.. Hmm.. thats it? I have 3.9 Mbps down and 396 Kbps up (average on both) and a AMD64 2 Ghz with 2 Megs DDR... And here I was thinking you needed something super to host this game... Oh yes and I am about to upgrade my service to the comcast new setting of 8 Mbps 800 Kbps up or somewhere around there (you know thats always the high end that they tell you when you call em).

I said kb, I have 3200up /768 down Kbps. The upload speed is the most important part, CK runs fine on most systems.

Oh es, so you did... Didn't even notice the B rather than the b...

Weekly Game Update

We played at Below Normal for most of the game with 6 players. We played from January 2 1286 to September 21 1290. Newest game MAP is up. I’ve purged and zipped the most recent game save which can be downloaded from here.

The players this session:
  • Traveler - King of Italy
  • Prime - King of Burgundy
  • Lurken - King of Castille
  • cheech - King of France
  • WG - King of Bohemia
  • Ear - King of Hungary

We had 5 game stops. I’ll list the causes for each stop:
  • WG CTD, not sure why
  • I lost my Internet connection, not sure why
  • All CTD, think it was my ISP again
  • All CTD, my ISP again
  • All CTD, definitely my ISP again, called it a day here

Frustrating set of sessions recently. I’ve contacted my ISP, who sent a technician to my house to check my lines. They found that their line to my house was defective and set about fixing it. I’ve been assured the problem is fixed.

WG resigned from our game this last session due to a slow connection. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we will miss WG (oowie-pazoowie). When and if WG manages to find a better ISP he is more than welcome to join us again.

We need to vote on a very important issue. During this last session I asked the players if we could move the game to Saturday due to personal matters. Most seemed agreeable to the idea. I think Saturday at (0800 PST/1100 EST/ 1700 CET) or earlier (0600 PST/0900 EST/1500 CET) would be good. Please take the time to consider the options and make your thoughts known. I do thank you all for your patience with our recent troubles and look forward to our next session.

Open realms:
  • Kingdom of Jerusalem
  • Kingdom of Bohemia
  • Rus

I am willing to move to Saturdays, but it will mean that I miss some sessions on those weeks where I have to go into work on Saturday (for whatever reason it would be that time).

I could start earlier (15.00 CET) at either Sundays or Saturdays, but I would rather keep the current day (Sunday).

Sunday 1500 CET is preferable to the current time even.

Saturday 1500CET is doable - Saturday 1700CET isn't. I'd prefer to keep the sunday.

I wont play saturdays
may be able to adjust time on sundays though

As a fan of this idea, I'd liek to say that it's been a great read throughout your massive AAR :D

I especially like this tidbit:

Finding that he had too much land directly under his control, Boleslaw granted his first-born son, Kazimierz, a duchy of his own, in the north, Samogitia. At this, Wladyslaw Herman, grew upset and attempted to force his brother to change the inheritance laws to put him next in line. He proposed that the king be ELECTED! Needless to say, Boleslaw reacted quickly and brutally to this proposal, even physically attacking his own brother over such an insult.

If you want to know why I loathe Wladyslaw, have a look at my AAR. There's a good reason for it

I can move to Saturdays, but it may mean missing the occasional session. (One the order of one every two months, perhaps.) I would prefer not to move to 0600 PST, though, as I am now living in the Pacific timezone. In fact, I think this is a dastardly plot to make the Yngling kings perform sub-optimally, and I call for a Crusade against the evildoers who suggested it! :D

On another subject, when we convert to EU2, can I suggest that we use my homegrown converter (currently in version 0.3, and being patched daily) whose discussion thread is here? It is really quite superior to the official one. And I promise not to hardcode any advantages for Norway. Well, not very many. ;)
