Here we have a good example of trolling.
Keep in mind that Paradox publishes for many many small developers. Most of these Devs are small sub 10 man studios that do not self publish for various logistical reasons.
They are not EA or Activision, companies that spend 10s of millions USD on advertising alone for games. These are small studios that would not be able to publish in multiple languages or at all without Paradox.
Expecting the same level of quality and adherence to to industry norms set by 100 man teams is ridiculous, and show you have no idea what you are buying. Which is why there is a degree of incredibility to those who have clearly been customers for so long acting like they have no clue how all this works. Please remember that being ignorant is not something to be proud of.
While Paradox has many titles that launch in states unacceptable for AAA studios, they generally tend to support the dev studios so the games can reach their potential instead of just dropping them, or cutting all support like the larger publishers tend to do.
A game like Sots II would have never been release from a large publisher, The 4x Genre is niche to begin with, so they would have simply cut there losses and canceled it, like so many other games out there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but was not the problem with SOTS-II more of a human error? As in someone uploaded to Steam/Valve the "wrong file" while the man in charge (Mecron) was caught in traffic elsewhere instead??? I recall reading Mecron's pre-release posts and seeing how excited he was for the coming release of the game. In fact, the over all mood in their forum was hugely positive...up until you-know-what happened. Looking back from now, it's hard to tell if his pre-release enthusiasm was just a show to hide the truth...that there really was no finished game. But that is back then and I'm looking forward to a completed game. And of course I'll buy all DLC content for the game...me just worried that that day might never come.
I agree the 4x genre is not a big ticket item for any dev/pub. Look at PI's biggest published seller for example... it's Magicka...an RPG/action fling...not a 4x/strategy game. "Profit" is any company's true game because without it, the doors be closing.
Two questions:
1. Did Populous have a buggy release?
2. Did Supremacy have a buggy release?
1 Question, what do 2 games released in the late 80's early 90's have to do with Paradox or Sword of the Stars?

This does not really justify the fact that releasing SotS II in the state it was released was effectively scamming customers out of their money. I'd rather have no game than pay money and have no game.![]()
I don't really want to complain, I bought the game knowing how buggy it was. However, I did expect to at least reach the main menu screen. I don't think my game has updated recently on Steam - have you given up trying to fix it, or is there just a delay on figuring out what to fix? I would also request that you focus on patching the game so it actually launches before moving onto fixing in-game problems; because if you can make it so people can actually get in, then we can help test what all bugs there are... Now, my Steam purchase - should I wait for you to patch it, or should I go out of my way to get it working myself?
I do want to play this game. I enjoyed the original, and the few good things I've heard about this one interest me. D Don't give up on fixing it, you don't want this game series to end like MoO3
