troll = one that has a different opinion from either A) the masses B) the local authority figure

Here we have a good example of trolling. It's not only a false statement, its A) Implicating that everyone else are somehow less capable of independent thoughts and B) Accusing the moderator for bullying, by wrongly using the trolling warning as a threat to silence a dissenting voice. No doubt it's primary intent is provoking readers into an emotional response or otherwise disrupt the normal on-topic discussion.
Now, what I'm doing is in Korea called "tob krean", literally translated "slapping a cropped head", referring to the typical hair cut of Korean school boys. That is the act of posting an intellectual reply to refute a supposed troller.
This might fail, and if so I could possibly contribute to take this thread even further off-topic. If so, I'm doing something that's usually called "feeding the troll", something that one should try to refrain from doing.

I hope you can find this explanation satisfactory.

Cheers

why are you so aggresive? I am asking to customers..

Paradox did this before, this is their style.. and they will continiue to do so.. i dont say its good or bad.. but if you dont like it, dont support it.. if you like it, go preorder everything... its your choise to make..

They refund, isnt it? So please dont try to correct or give advise.. its useless to write something to this topic.. Paradox is not a new company, so they wont learn any lesson from anybody after those years.. as i said this is their style of getting money.. If you dont like it, they refund..

Many ppl here try to say its wrong.. but paradox is still here, so they accomplished to survive.. so its ok for them.. maybe they find out a trick about marketting.. who knows? So i respect them.. becouse i think its a wrong policy but they are here so it means i am wrong, not them..

Just forget about sots2.. erase it from your minds.. return after 1 year.. get a version 1.3 or other with an expansion.. so you like paradox games? Buy them after 1 year after release and everyone is happy..

sry for bad english..

Keep in mind that Paradox publishes for many many small developers. Most of these Devs are small sub 10 man studios that do not self publish for various logistical reasons.
They are not EA or Activision, companies that spend 10s of millions USD on advertising alone for games. These are small studios that would not be able to publish in multiple languages or at all without Paradox.
Expecting the same level of quality and adherence to to industry norms set by 100 man teams is ridiculous, and show you have no idea what you are buying. Which is why there is a degree of incredibility to those who have clearly been customers for so long acting like they have no clue how all this works. Please remember that being ignorant is not something to be proud of.
While Paradox has many titles that launch in states unacceptable for AAA studios, they generally tend to support the dev studios so the games can reach their potential instead of just dropping them, or cutting all support like the larger publishers tend to do.
A game like Sots II would have never been release from a large publisher, The 4x Genre is niche to begin with, so they would have simply cut there losses and canceled it, like so many other games out there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was not the problem with SOTS-II more of a human error? As in someone uploaded to Steam/Valve the "wrong file" while the man in charge (Mecron) was caught in traffic elsewhere instead??? I recall reading Mecron's pre-release posts and seeing how excited he was for the coming release of the game. In fact, the over all mood in their forum was hugely positive...up until you-know-what happened. Looking back from now, it's hard to tell if his pre-release enthusiasm was just a show to hide the truth...that there really was no finished game. But that is back then and I'm looking forward to a completed game. And of course I'll buy all DLC content for the game...me just worried that that day might never come. :(

I agree the 4x genre is not a big ticket item for any dev/pub. Look at PI's biggest published seller for example... it's Magicka...an RPG/action fling...not a 4x/strategy game. "Profit" is any company's true game because without it, the doors be closing.

Nope, The wrong upload was only up for a day, the version up that night was the furthest along one. Now I'm not an employee so I can't claim authority on the matter, but it seems to simply have been a matter of sending up the wrong version.

My impression was always that they lost two programmers over the year(health has been the stated reason-I haven't dug because it could be pretty personal) and that pushed them back causing the original delay, Even now they only have 5 programmers total. Followed by them not being able to fix some major errors in october causing them to remove features right before launch which lead to a more fixable but rather unstable release. The first upland at launch was a beta version with some features still in place(namely indies/option menu, a few others) followed by the stripped version(with buggiest features removed) at the end of the same day.
Unfortunately a Developer like Kerberos is unable to comment on the completion of a game prior to launch due to legal agreements with the publisher/distributors. Combine that with some optimism on it going better than it did and you have the pre-launch forums.

The whole they lost the game/they uploaded a beta to fool us thing is a misunderstanding/miscaricaturization of events. It gets repeated a lot because its an easy/simple explanation that fits peoples views, but neither really holds any water once put under scrutiny.

So... Care to enlighten us why you brought them up in a thread about general complaints about SOTS2?

This does not really justify the fact that releasing SotS II in the state it was released was effectively scamming customers out of their money. I'd rather have no game than pay money and have no game. o_O

I'm sorry you purchased the game from a company that is not honoring the refund offer. However you must realize that the majority of the game owners are invested in the product, and want to see it finished. Information about the state of the game is public and easily found, and to any per-orderers there is not much difference between the early launch and a 2 or 3 month delay, as we had already paid in full for the game; many(such as myself) months before release.

Not to mention the current incarnation of the game isn't too shabby, I've been crash free for 3 games now, and we are 1 or 2 patches away from having all the launch features. It still needs polish, but If the game had launched in this state I would have been content with it.

We want Sots II, only Kerberos can make that. Had the game been canceled it would have likely meant the end of the studio. Which would be the end of the first company to put out what I and many other 4x gamers have been waiting for since MOO2. I'm sorry but anyone wishing that earns my spite.

They should close this thread. Some people don't know when to stop complaining. It's getting really frustrating..

Why are you getting frustrated?
If you have fun with the game you shouldnt really care if others hasnt.
People complain because they feel like they were scamed and I see good reason why they feel like that.
On that particular case thius guy buy game from legal distributor and when Paradox claimed that will refund game for everyone he expect to get the refund. He dont get it. In my opinion he should.
If you dont wanna hear him complaying in the thread that was make to complain you can pay him refund. There are some guys who said that 40$ are minor sum.
There are people who claim that they are invested with Kerberos. Whatewer that mean. They can pay Kerberos debt is that is really true.
I on the other hand dont wish to invest into liers or at best ignorant fools. For me Kerberos can go bankrupt tommorow. They lied about state of the game(ore they didnt know which really is even worse). They sold broken product as COMPLETE ONE. They still selling it. Their credibility for me is equal zero. They exchange their good reputaion for some money. Their choice.
Wanna trust them. Sure. Dont force your wishfull thinking on others.

Two different threads guys, Refund related issues in the refund thread please.

After reading the above comments, I hope you folks realize that Castellon's only association with Paradox is being in charge of this Forum, and is in no way associated with the games they release.

I don't really want to complain, I bought the game knowing how buggy it was. However, I did expect to at least reach the main menu screen. I don't think my game has updated recently on Steam - have you given up trying to fix it, or is there just a delay on figuring out what to fix? I would also request that you focus on patching the game so it actually launches before moving onto fixing in-game problems; because if you can make it so people can actually get in, then we can help test what all bugs there are... Now, my Steam purchase - should I wait for you to patch it, or should I go out of my way to get it working myself?

I do want to play this game. I enjoyed the original, and the few good things I've heard about this one interest me. D Don't give up on fixing it, you don't want this game series to end like MoO3

That's weird, could you please post this at the Kerberos boards?

Be aware that it can take a LONG time to come to the opening menu. Been a few times I thought it was stuck when it wasn't. If it doesn't dump back to the desktop let it run a bit. I normally turn off all options in graphics to speed up loading. I also remember reading a thread about shutting off the movie at the load screen will speed up loading significantly.
