I've read them yesterday on steam, and waited a day (if it would get edited but it didn't) so i assume it's official minimum system requirements

From steam store:
MINIMUM:
......
Graphics: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 260, 512 MB / ATI Radeon HD 5670, 512 MB
DirectX: Version 11
......

I've quoted only the graphic card and dx version from the system requirements, to avoid confusion.

I've got nVidia Geforce gtx 260+ card with 896 mb, that can support up to dx 10.

I would assume that i would be able to play this game.
But minimum. sys. requirements also says that the graphics card also has to support dx 11, which leaves me wondering:

Is nvidia GTX 260, with support up to dx 10 going to be able to play the game, or not?

Developers, please fix this confusion, it makes no sense and it makes you look extremely unprofessional, i'm really sorry, please, no offense, but this is my opinion.

Geforce GTX has neither only 512mb ram, as you've said, neither supports dx11, so what is it going to be, devs?

It might be worth comparing benchmarks of an "older" card to the 750 - it is really a low-mid range card. For example, you might get more "bang for buck" by buying a 680 Ti for example. For Nvidia, the "series" is the first number and the second number denotes it's position in the market, so a 750 > 730 but < 780 OC - as stated, a higher rated card from an older series might well outperform a newer but less "elite" card at the same price point.

Hi. I couldn't find any place that would sell 680 TI graphics cards and I am extremely suspicious of buying 2nd hand PC hardware after the fiasco of my 2nd hand 8800GT with graphical glitches.

The store i'm getting my gtx750 has it cheap and only for 100€, and any better graphics cards are much much more expensive, and i can't shell out more than 150€ for PC (graphics card+this game), due to the ammount of bills I have to pay for other a bit more essential things in my life :)

I don't even play games that much. C:SL only maybe civilization 5, otherwise, i don't geek that much as i did as a teenager. :)

In that case a GTX 750 would serve you well ^.^ Alternatively you could go for an AMD 260X which is a bit more (10 to 20 dollars) expensive but a fair bit stronger.

I have to say I don't know ZOTAC though. Different manufacturers of the same card use different cooling and materials stuff, so it might be noisy or something. I know MSI and Sapphire are good

"260x is 13€ more expensive, and it's a MSI not zotac... i'm actually thinking about buying the 260x, i'll definitely think about it, thanks :)

this things getting cheap , its what i have, runs things pretty great.

i dunno how much your looking to spend, but i may get a second, i payed almost double about a year ago.

course if nvidas your thing, then nvidias your thing.

yeah the card is pretty sweet but it's about 2x my budget, sorry :D

As far as fanboyism goes,... no, just no. I don't care if it says nvidia, ati, amd, poo or whatever on the graphics card, i just want to run this game and it looks like R7 260x might be my new graphics card. I've went nvidia->ATi->nvidia->now AMD

well if you ever buy a 290 don't bother buying the 290X it doesn't do much more for its cost increase. Regular r290 is best for your dollar. who knows maybe in a year it will be 100 dollars.

just have to think huge citys and no lag mabey you spend a little more :)

That's a deep rabbit hole to go down to though :p Buying PC parts is addictive

Both the 750 and 260x will run the game well enough. Not at max settings with 60 fps but eh, better that than to blow your budget when you're not a regular gamer.

First of all everyone is here too confusing for a novice regarding graphic cards.

second forget DX12.
a) the game ain't going to support it
b) no games are even in the pipeline to support it
c) any such games going to come out 2017+
All current Nvidia 9xx series and all AMD GCN1.1 or better cards support it. (R9 290/290X etc).

This games needs a DX11 card. Depending budget all current and last series of AMD & Nvidia will support it.
After that what card.

The first thing you need to look is VRAM. 3GB is bare minimum today if you want to play games with some high settings and higher resolutions than 1080p. but if you do not care about gfx 2gb vram card will do.

So
sub £100 a GTX750 with 2GB VRAM, preferably some factory overclocked to 1000+
at £150 card, the best one atm the R9 280 (Old 7950). If you can find some 280X for that money get it (old 7970).
at £200 R9 290 (especially the Power Color PCS+ goes for £199) is a bargain and comes with 4GB VRAM.
at £250 R9 290X

(Please note DO NOT BUY R9 290/290X reference cards, they are loud and running hot, get ones like the Tri-X or MSI gaming etc)

Nvidia,
while the GTX980 is pretty good comes with a heavy price tag £400+ that doesn't justify it over the significantly less R9 290X, since they are in par more or less.
GTX970 i wouldn't touch it, especially if you google search with the issues it has when exceeds 3.5GB VRAM usage. (you might think I will not use that much, but the game ain't going to ask you if tries to and crashes)
GTX960 is tad pointless card, when you can buy R9 280 or 285 for the same money.

Ebay is your friend for bargain, especially on GTX780 or GTX780Ti. especially if you find them £50+ cheaper than the R9 290X.

However all the above are still not set in stone. Before you make such investment search around your options to review websites like bit-tech.net, toms hardware, anandtech, guru3d.

I hope this post helps.

This goes for every card ever. Also a very important point.

To nuance your point a bit: For all non-gamers who want to purchase a video card in order to play this game and/or a few other games (say crusader kings, civilization) a GTX750/260X is fine as long as you're okay with running the game at medium or low settings. In other words if you want to play cities skylines and need a new card you're going to spend at least 100 dollars.

A third (and very subjective) point of advice is to never buy PC parts second hand.

what happens if I plays this with an ATI Radeon 4800 series? Black hole everyone dies?

Bugs galore! I used to play skyrim with a 3850. Good times. It actually worked well though

This means the game can't run at all in DX10 or its just it will be amazingly shitty?

The game won't launch at all as far as I can find from similar games. Just display an error saying that the game requires DX 11. That will probably happen here as well, so I'd be careful with pre ordering unless you're ready to spend around 100 dollars for a new card.

Yep. Looks like I'll try to see this as a positive and wait for the release, absort people's reaction and comments, then if it really is the holy grail, I'll spend some 200 bucks on it. (game + card = ooch!)

Hm... i've been doing some "research", and it turns out that gtx 750 has a slightly higher passmark score than R7 260x, what-up with that?

I already know that R7 260x has 2GB gddr5 ram and gtx 750 has only 1gb gddr5.
In this game i reckon, the ram will be used pretty extensively, so having 2x as much ram is pretty important.

One question for the expers. R7 260x has a comparably low 128bit memory bus width, even my old Gtx 260 has 448 bit memory bus width.
Is 128bit memory bus width even enough to utilise whole 2 gb of ram on that graphics card? Just curious, that's all.

Benchmarks aren't the best comparison. Games aren't perfect either but they're better in my opinion. Look here for a comparison between the two.
As far as I know the memory bus is good enough, though I'm not sure as that's beyond my knowledge. What I do know is that 2GB is already on the low side today and 1 GB is really too little. My personal opinion on these two is the following: Get the 260X for it's 2GB VRAM and slightly higher performance, unless you greatly prefer Nvidia or it's lower power requirement/noise production.

But perhaps there is a 750 card with 2 GB VRAM?

VRAM is not the same as RAM. I'm not sure, but I don't think C:SL will need much VRAM. But, to be sure, it would be better to ask dev or Moo or someone.
