Little update.
Combat System redesigned and works now much better. I think I can release a new version soon.
(It's not a bloodbath anymore to attack, but the losses are still higher as in Vanilla.) :)
Had to edit the whole units and ... :mad: )

For the Fans of "inofficial-SMEP" and DAIM:
I'm testing an adaption of "inofficial-SMEP" and DAIM at the Moment.
First games look promising.

Again an update.

New version AHOI-ALPHA-1.D can be found in the first post.

After trying to run SMEP and DAIM with AHOI, I realiesed a problem with the Mod-DIR. So, next Version will be without Mod-Dir.

There are also already some ne events like Ger-JAP Alliance after Jap is at War with the Allies or about Spain if the Soviets are beaten.

Combat works now in the direction it should. It's still not perfect, but doing quite well IMHO. (After all the headache I had in former versions..)

Sea combat is quite fun too. Wipe out capital Ships without Destroyer protection with your subs, or get beaten if they have them and Carrier.

I hope you enjoy this more than the last too versions..

I've just begun testing and would have no problem testing SMEP without DAIM unless it changes some AI files around that I shouldn't be messing with. I'll try a normal run through without it but I would very much like to play with it enabled.

EDIT: One issue. MTN and CAV can't be built, at least by Germany.

I had that problem with the Kav and Bergs once too. In the neweset version it shouldn't exist. Never knowed what makes it dissapear. But I'll make a change that it wont show up again. (Maybe its something with the engine, because I don't acivate the first Kav and Bergs. The technologies needed are ready and in my last games I was allways able to research them and further. But in one game, there where disabled..., so I'll activate them in the next version..)

DAIM and "unofficial"-SMEP will be hopefully ready before Christmas, but I have to give up the Mod-Dir only Version, because it doesn't work this way.
Also I've to check some events to work with AHOI, and change the AI a bit for AHOI (Elite Brig etc..)

I have a news for all fans of DAIM and SMEP.

A AHOI version with DAIM and SEMP is available for download in the first post.

And next version of AHOI will maybe ready early next year.

The AHOI MOD should be great, but.....

I really want to improve the naval combat process without touching the tech tree and land units :(
So here is my question - is there a possibility of installing this MOD without changing the tech tree/land divisions/air divisions? :wacko:

There is no option to do so.
Only way would be to seperate the Mod manually.
Units are easy, but difficult would be the tech tree. Because you have techs for naval combat in the secret tech tree and also techs there that are in the industry tech tree in vanilla HOI.
Also I deleted some techs in the secret tech tree, like all the nuclear ships..
(so if you stay with vanilla secret, you will never be able to build nuclear ships even if you research them..)

I'm sorry..
But maybe you just give AHOI a try with everything in.
It's still ALPHA....
What don't you like on the other changes of AHOI?

Thank you for your quick reply.
My problem is that I always play a FULL scenario ('36) as USSR - so I have to make a LONG way untill the first shot will be fired :D
But as far as I know the ground/air battle system of your MOD is a bit unbalanced - so I'm afraid that after 7-8 days of hard playing :) (building IC/fleets/divisions) the ground/air battles will be too easy/hard (or something like this) :eek:

Don't get me wrong - your tech tree system is really great and innovating, but battle system needs some balance (only IMHO)
It is great that you modified the naval battle system - the subs in Vanilla HOI DD was useless. Now in your MOD they are not.
So if there is any chance of even manually installing the naval part of your MOD I would be mostly grateful to you.

I've read more on this topic - quite an interesting way of modifiying the air tech tree :)
If there is absolutely no possibility of leaving the "clear" naval combat modification - maybe installing all techs also WITHOUT modification of ground/air battles will be an option? :rolleyes:

I'm quite lucky that you like this mod so far.

I also recommend that you play on normal/normal for the ALPHA-phase of this mod. No other difficult setting is testet yet.

Balance of combat system is tricky, and I'm still on this.
I find new things to enhence every time I run this game..

And, I guess there must be a new system with settings and events for a challenging game for expierienced players and Multiplayer.

BUT, again, this Mod is still in progress and in an early build.
Biggest part is to merge this whole new settings of units stats, events, industry, ministers, etc. into a fine working way.
Therefore it would be a big work on top of this, if I seperate some of the mod an alter it all along the progress of this mod.

So, I try to make AHOI a little better with every Version and hope the final one will be great on all topics, and very fun to play.

I'm sorry that this will probably dissapoint you, but I hope you will still testplay this mod, and maybe have some suggestings what could be better etc..

Same problem as with SMEP and DAIM.
I would have to edit these ones because of changes with the models AHOI use. :eek:
In AHOI, there are no nuclear Subs, but more conventional ones.
More models for cav, elite Brigs, siege Art...

I'll bring out a AHOI grapics mod adaption based on the graphic mods available later. ;)
Maybe some of the graphics modders are so nice an add some special stuff for AHOI? (My skills in making good looking Icons is not soo great at the moment...)

But first the basics, balancing, gameplay, balancing, events, balancing, the map, balancing, and than the eyecandy... :)

No.
The Version in the first post works with SMEP and DAIM! :D
But I had to do additional modding to bring this 3 Mods together.
So, for example, the "vanilla"-DAIM AI on research will never research elite brigs, because for DAIM it is rocket artillery..
I had to cut the AHOI events I changed for China because of SMEP and even DAIM has own events there... etc..

DAIM and SMEP don't make touble on their own, but when you mix it with something that has overlapping modification(like AHOI) it means more work.... :rolleyes:

So if you like the events in "unofficial"-SMEP and the AI of DAIM and also AHOI so far. You could play now with all these Mods. :)

If you will just try AHOI and see how this Mod is getting better, play AHOI solo. :)

I hope I find the time to bring in some events by myself. But I allready know, that making events is a hell of a job (also is AI what is going side by side with events), and it makes much more fun (for me) to mod other things of the game. But well, I started it, so I guess I've to finish it. ;)

And my installed Daim won't work properly with AHOI? :eek:
Do I have to reinstall it with your AHOI+DAIM+SMEP MOD? :wacko:

P.S. Can I install AHOI+DAIM separately WITHOUT SMEP?

maybe it's easy. :)
If you have DAIM already installed and AHOI too.
Then you have to add in your AHOI/scenarios folder at the end in the 1936.eug file this:

# DAIM AI switch events
event = "db\events\AI_switches_CHI.txt"

event = "db\events\AI_switches_GER.txt"
event = "db\events\AI_switches_ITA.txt"
event = "db\events\AI_switches_JAP.txt"

It should work this way.
Check in the game if the DAIM events fire at the start of the game.
(If not, than you have to copy all of DAIM expect the 1936 AI files in the AHOI folder.)
