I have finally updated the mod to 1.4.4. This update also includes a revision for the dharmic faith tenets, in addition revising the marriage doctrines for Hinduism and Jainism; specifically Jainism has consorts and Hinduism has Polygamy. I also added the faiths of Pudgalavada for Buddhism, one of the early schools of Buddhism and the Hindu faiths of Ganaptism/Ganaptaya and Kaumaram.
As always feedback, bug reports, balance info, comments and suggestions are welcome.

This is a minor update to help with compatibility for RICE and also some minor localization fixes. No longer will Elephanta caves be known as Max_Recursive_depth! This is just a minor hotfix and hopefully shouldn't break any saves.
As always feedback, bug reports, balance info, comments and suggestions are welcome.
I try to make it as compatible as possible. Though the mods that well modify things I do, such as the tenets and special doctrines, or the history files of India and south asian cultures will likely have issues.
It would be cool, if you could add some historical content, which happened in India at the time like giving the Tripartite Struggle some work or modeling Muslim invasions in India.
I will try the mod today.
Btw I have been searching for books on specific dynasties like the Rashtrakuta and the Chola. So far I have only read about them in general surveys of Indian history. Are you able to recommend any?

I work to add more flavor in general and the Tripartite Struggle and the various Islamic Invasions is something I want to have more flavor to.
On the roadmap for the future btw is that once Royal Court comes out to use the minor court title feature that they are adding to include more of the various administrative titles of the three big empires, including events for the Parsi migration into India and the Saurashtra migration from Saurashtra to central India.
As for books, their is History of the Rashtrakutas by Bishweshwar Nath Reu and The Rashtrakutas And Their Times by Anant Sadashiv Altekar are two books I have as PDFs for the Rashtrakutas. I have also been using a lot of Jstor articles since with the free version I get a 100 articles a month. Far more than searching for a single book I will pull up Jstor and look for something.
I am curious for the sources here. Most of the information that I have found they were Vaishnavites. The History Of The Gurjara Pratiharas, one of the main sources I have found on the Pratihara Dynasty mentions that they were Vaishnavites as well as patronizing Shaivism. Still I am open to changing things if there is evidence to it.
Side note: one thing I want to do is to have it so that you can give patronage to other sects of Hinduism, along with Buddhism, and Jainism without changing your faith or religion.
First the big news is that Dharmachakra is now included in Rajas of Indochina. I am now part of the team there and working on making sure that things are updated between my mod and Rajas. I do plan to keep working on Dharmachakra as a separate mod but for those that enjoy Rajas of Indochina it is now included!
Second my next update is focused on doing more improvements for Jainism and the Rashtrakutas. So it will feature a number of flavor events and decisions for Jain rulers. Zealous rulers can for example abdicate and become a monk, the festivals of Paryushana and Mahavir Janma Kalyanak can be celebrated, and a revised list of holy sites for Jainism. Also some updating on the history of some characters and titles, so that for example the historical capital of the Rashtrakutas is there and that Amoghavarsha is a scholar and poet.
Its not all Jainism though as I have animal sacrifices for Kalikula Shaktism and Shrautism, as well as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas for Mahayana and Vajarayana Buddhists to focus on.
I am planning for the future to revise the list of holy sites for all the various religions of South Asia not just Jainism.
This is an update to add some more flavor for Jains. A number of new Holy sites with new special buildings. Each holy site has its own unique pilgrimage description for when you go on a pilgrimage. There are three festivals for Jains, Mahamastakabhisheka, Paryushana, and Mahavir Janma Kalyanak. The county of Manyakheta is now the capital of the Rashtrakutas; Amo. Due to the religious views of Jains, they don't hunt, and if you happen to become the Chakravatin as a Jain you get a different doctrine, one that promotes conversion resistance instead of holy war cost.
For those wondering the new virtues are: calm, compassionate, honest, forgiving, generous, chaste, improvident, inappetetic, and humble. The new Sins are: hunter_1, hunter_2, hunter_3, drunkard, wrathful, sadistic, gluttonous, lustful, greedy, callous, rakish, and deceitful.
Beyond that I have added a decision to do an Animal Sacrifice for Kalikula Shaktism and Shrautism Hindus. Mayahana and Vajarayana Buddhists are able to select a buddha, Boddhisattva, or other meditational deity to devote themselves to. Hindus that are of Marathi culture can worship Khandoba while Rajasthanis can honor Devnarayan.
As always feedback, bug reports, balance info, comments and suggestions are welcome.
various bug fixes
Mahayana and Vajarayana Buddhists can now devote themselves to a Buddha or Boddhisattva
Jains can now celebrate the the Paryushana and Mahamastakabhisheka festivals
the Gommateshwara Statue can now be built
Rajasthanis can worship Devnarayan and Marathi can worship Khandoba
Followers of either Kalikula Shaktism or Shrautism can now do animal sacrifices.
Jain rulers who are zealous can choose to abdicate and become a monk
Revised Jain holy sites
Jain unique destinations at their holy sites
various jain flavor events
updated the starting stats and traits of Mihira Bohj, Narayanapala, and Amoghavarsha
Manyakheta is now properly the capital of the Rashtrakutas.
Jains no longer hunt
Jains have a revised sin and virtue traits
Jains and Buddhists can now take lord of the Sacred River
Jains get a different doctrine when becoming the Chakravatin
So for the next update I am working on massively expanding the holy sites for the various religions in South Asia. Furthermore I am also working on a number of holy days to celebrate. So Hindus can celebrate Diwali, Buddhists can celebrate Vesak, Tamils can celebrate Pongal, and Tibetans can celebrate Losar.
For a teaser here are some screenshots of the Kalikula Shakti faith's holy sites and the Mahayana Holy sites - also if you are playing Rajas of Indochina these faiths will have even more holy sites; the sites in Burma will be a bit tweaked in that mod compared to Dharmachakra due to the extended map. But this does mean that Buddhists can take a pilgrimage and visit Borobudur.
Now these are a lot of Holy Sites, and yes you will be able to visit them all in pilgrimages or special decisions(Nalanda and Sharada Peeth for example have their own decisions to visit them). However to make it easier, here is the Buddhist Holy Site Selector.
After you select an option, say Sites Holy to the Buddha's life, you will get the choice of a few sites there, so if you want to visit Lumbini or Bodh Gaya that option is what you take. However if you want to visit the Ellora Caves then you select the indian sites, and if you want to visit the Buddhas of Bamiyan, you select central asian sites.
Also the vast majority of these holy sites, not all of them but many, have their own unique description when you visit them. There are also new events to get while you are on the pilgrimage.
So this is what I am currently working on. Its not done yet, I still got several festivals to go through and I would like to find some new event backgrounds for the pilgrimages and festivals. I did want to let others know what I am working on.
I love your work. It's my favorite mod.
Will new content be also in Rajas of Indochina? I'm not sure if I should use both mods or just RoI mod.
More Holy Sites means a lot of bonuses if you player control them I guess. It can be powerful.

Thanks, and yes my stuff is fully incorporated into Rajas of Indochina. Stuff that I do for the standalone mod gets brought over to there as well.
As for the bonuses, that is a balance thing which I will likely be adjusted over time. But I am working to make it so that the effects are much smaller but still add up. the fragmented nature of India's religions, and the muslim conquests should hopefully keep things balanced as well.
I've been having a minor bug with the Animal Sacrifice events. I started one in 870, and despite no new events triggering since then, the Activity hasn't ended, and I can't go on a pilgrimage or hunt. It's currently 901, and the Activity hasn't ever finished
