After more than two months I'm back and working on Mod Launcher again. Agung Pasha placed a bug in my head: ability of Mod Launcher to run BAT files. I was thinking about it for a long time and maybe next versions of Mod Launcher will support BAT files as a second launch option. ML will still use its own file-copying as primary launch method, but will include option to switch to BAT launch.

Version 1.0.2 will come soon.

I'm able to moddify Mod Launcher also for any other Paradox game. I only need some informations:
- name of EXE file in these games
- if the game supports moddir as Eu2
- path from root game folder to any scenario in mod (example: EU2/Mod_folder/Scenarios/scenario.eug)
- name of folder where map files are stored
- names of map files
- information which files are controlling music in the game (in Eu2 it is 14.txt, 15.txt, etc.) and where they are placed

Anybody who can tell me these informations about CK, Vicky, HoI, HoI2, Eu(1), please post. Thanks

Hmm, one bug I had, was after using WatK and then re-starting Vanilla, the map didn't properly reset.

Thus, I had a WatK map with a vanilla province.csv, looked very weird. The map was correctly backed up though, the back-up files were the vanilla ones, but they weren't put back in.

(Win 98 btw)

Yes, this is a pitty bug which occurs only on Win98/ME. Version 1.0.1 works only on WinXP. Preparing version 1.0.2 should be compatible also with Win98. 1.0.2 should be released by the end of week (I hope).

EDIT: Sorry to all users with Win98. I didn't know about this bug and thought that it works on 98 as it works on XP. I get it after 1.0.1 release and didn't have time to work on it until now.

Well, Mod Launcher is superb. I've got no problems with AGCEEP 1.41, 476 Scenario, and WATK 3.1

But when I launch Age of Discoveries 1.4 and go SINGLE PLAYER, there is no scenario to select.

I looked at AoD's scenario folder and the scenario IS there.

It is very ammusing because it's the scenario I use for MP games. :(

Is there a way to fix it?

Check folder name of the mod. This error happens when the folder's name contains more than one word.

I love one-word replies. :p

Is it bad or good? The smily says 'good', but my dictionary says that word "wicked" is 'bad'. I'm confused.
wicked
very good: very impressive or very skillful (slang)
example: He plays a wicked game of tennis.

New version 1.0.2, now compatible also with Win98, is FINALLY on the way. I've finished a basic test on Win98 with positive results, so new Mod Launcher should work on this systems as well as on XP.

Upcoming version 1.0.2:
- automatic handling of mods including different maps (in previous versions it was working only on XP, now will work also on Win98)
- automatic handling of modified music
- NEW! compatibility also with Win98
- NEW! automatic handling of units with unused military TAGs

Version 1.0.2 will be released within few days!

Excellent program! Just a shame i didn't find it sooner.
Just one thing though, i don't seem to have a "prepare to remove" button.

The manual is already prepared for new version 1.0.2, which will be released within few days. "Prepare to remove" button isn't in older versions.

ah!, my bad then:) Will we be able to simply paste the new version over the old one?

Mod Launcher 1.0.2 is prepared, only few minutes to release.

In the end I decided to make the music modification easier, not using two folders as I wanted at first. Read the chapter "Modified music" in the manual in the first post of this thread if you want to know more. If you didn't read the manual for version 1.0.2, do it. It's much better written than it was for 1.0.1. You'll also learn something about the new Mod Launcher.

I didn't make the automatic copying of unused military TAGs. I must design it properly, so it can come in some of the future versions.

EDIT: Released! Version 1.0.2 downloadable here

If you used Mod Launcher 1.0.2 on a mod with modified music and you didn't hear anything, open the file "Default_music.ini" placed directly in Eu2 folder and behind the last word Music write symbol '\' (backslash). Now it should work.

Wonderful tool.... as Registered said : a shame i didn't find it sooner.

Got just a little problem.... for the shield.bmp, my Photoshop 6.0 won't let me do any bitmap file over 8 bit color. Thus, the installer displays a black square for my mod. What can i do ?

Try open it in ordinary Paint Brush and resave it to 24 bit colours. Is it better?

Works grat, many thanks :)

Mod Launcher is back

New version 1.0.3 is out. You can download it here :)

What's new?
Mod Launcher now supports also moddir-like modification of intro movies. It enables you to have in "mod_folder\AVI" custom files:
- Intro.bik
- EU2_intro.bik
- Paradox.bik
- Dedication.bik
- Binkplay.exe (When your movie needs newer bink player, you can place the new bink player here and Mod Launcher will use it instead the default one)

Finally is automated recopying of missing files from "Gfx\Map\Units", "Gfx\Map\Units\bmp" and "Gfx\Palette" from mod into vanilla folder. For mods that are using custom units with TAGs unused by vanilla units, this had to be done manually. Now Mod Launcher will do it for you without rewriting the original files. ;)

Dunno how many mods ordinary player can have in his Eu2, but 1.0.3 has removed 10 games cap (9 mods + vanilla game) and you can have now in Eu2 folder as many mods you would like. When you'll have more than 10 games, gold arrow for access the next page with mods will appear.

And in the end, bug with backslash in "music.ini" file was fixed. I hope this bug won't appear on other place. :D

Enjoy :)

PS:

I have no opportunity to test new Mod Launcher on Win98. I'd be glad if somebody with this OS will report whether ML 1.0.3 works on this version of Windows or not.
Thanks :)
