If you dont mind me asking, what is the rationale behind having only a six?

I think that's what vanilla has for the Hindu religion. It's good to have a limit so I don't get tied up with one religion for too long. I might expand after.

I'm probably not going to start the next religion tonight, and instead am going to organise information and plan everything into a spreadsheet first. I've decided that for the first six of each religion I'll have a positive stat boost and a negative one, so there will a patron for each stat, and then one for fertility. Then, if I expand the amount of deities, they will have different kinds of bonuses instead (like health, for example).

Excellent plan! Can I ask as to whether you'd consider including a Celtic-Pagan version? Between Ancient Religions and The Winter King, I'm starting to think of how amazing a Celtic-Pagan Patron-Diety Mega-Campaign could be.

If I do, and I'd like to, it will probably be after the vanilla religions.

I'm going to do Hellenic next just because I have some parts written already. I want to know peoples opinions on Greek versus Roman names. At the minute they're Greek, but I looked to see how another mod handles this (Ancient Religions) and the preview shows Roman flavour (although I didn't see any deity names). Thoughts?

Edit: Just checked and Vanilla uses Roman, so I'm going to do that unless anybody has serious objections.

I used roman names since (Yes vanilla uses them), sadly, the game doesnt allow for cultural dynamic god names.

Update: Added patron deities for Hellenic characters. Any opinions of which religion should be next?

How about Slavic or romuva?

Also superskierpat speaking of names quick question for you: when you get around to doing the Egyptian Religion for ACR, which names are you going with the Greek names(Isis, Osris, Thoth, etc) or the Native Egyption names(Aset, Wesir, Djehuty, etc)?

Very interesting!! I was going to do something similar with LI... and now that I'm here I will ask: Do you mind if I use some of your work for LI? I might also modify it to use as a template for my own work.

Slavic is already done. Romuva is pretty much done too, will be uploaded when I get the chance.

I don't suppose you would mind waiting until it's a little more complete? After I've implemented the basic mechanic for as many religions as possible I was hoping to expand and develop the mod more.

OK, no problem then, I'd understand that you don't want incomplete versions of your mod out there. I look forward to seeing this complete though.

Probably the greek ones, since the native egyptians are less well known and it makes more sense with my inside story about the comeback.

Alrighty; figured you would go with the Greek ones, they are more well known after all. Thought I would ask though, :)

Patron saints should be culturally tied.

Patron saints should be culturally tied.

I agree... but the first time round I will probably just implement some obvious Saints for all cultures of a certain religion, and look at diversity after.

I will point out there that Tyr, being the god of Justice and War, should have Diplomacy or Stewardship + in addition to the Martial bonus.

I haven't included Tyr so far because although he is important, I was aiming for one deity per stat and one for fertility. If I expand the gods to 9 at a later date, I might include him. As for having two stat bonuses - for now each deity has only one, but I will probably adjust things and add different effects in a different phase of the mod. For now I'm just trying to get as many religions done as possible.

A couple of ideas for saints who lived before 866
Saint Peter which might give a + stewardship and + learning and maybe - martial for being first pope and organizing church
Then maybe Saint Michael the Archangel which could give a martial boost
Then Saint Patrick but i don't know what traits to give
Saint Dewi (David) who was patron Saint of Wales again don't know what traits
Saint George is another good one (The one who killed a dragon) also a martial boost
Saint Nicholas (Nikolaos)
