Update: Added Romuva patron deities. Workshop update coming soon.

@Zammy96, thanks I'll take a look at them in more detail when I get chance.

Edit: bit of a problem, Romuva decision not showing but I'll try to fix ASAP.

Edit: should be fixed.

Tyr is mainly a patron of justice, his symbol was found at the ruins of ancient norse tribunals.

i think his bonuses should be similar to the just trait, giving +2 stewardship and +5 general opinion.

That's a little powerful, considering other deities only get +1 in a stat at the moment.

@Zireael: thanks, hope you enjoy it.

Cool idea, I will try it. I did not read the thread at all but any chance that we get patron saints for christians, and maybe something similar if it does exist for muslims although that seems to be a controversial issue.

I have a few more pagan religions to implement patrons for before that, and then I might have a round of balancing and tweaks still, but patrons for Christian religions is definitely planned. I don't know a lot about Islam, and am worried a little about causing offence. I will research beforehand, but hopefully somebody will come along and make suggestions.

Updated: added patron deities for Suomenusko and West African pagans, and fixed some localisation errors.

Anybody have ideas for Tengri? As I understand it, it's a religion that recognises other deities, but that follows a particular one (Tengri). I'm not sure what to do with it...

Updated.

1.06
* Added patron saints for Christian characters (minus Iconoclast)
* Enabled patron deities for reformed religions
* Added place holder decision icon
* Improved localisation
* Edited Hindu event modifier localisation
* Fixed localisation errors

I appreciate any comments on whether certain heresies should or shouldn't have patron saints, and advice on how toapporach Muslim and Tengri patrons.

Note: I plan to alter saints for specific branches/heresies of Christianity and different cultures at a later date. For the time being I've chosen an obvious selection to get the feature implemented for as many people as possible.

Hellenic:
Mars: Bonus to military and special event called Tubilistrium which increases levies
Juno: bonus to diplomacy and vassal opinion
Minerva: bonus to learning and increased technology rates

When you do the Hellenic stuff, use the Greek deity names please, not the Roman ones. Hellenic comes from Hellas after all, and not from Italia, unless you want to get really complicated and use the latinized names for all western european cultures and the Dreek ones for every culture east of Croatia.

Would be nice if the names depended on whether you're Greek or Roman. When I lead my Roman Roman empire I want to do it in the name of Jupiter and with the blessings of Mars.

Now I don't know about others, but I found the -20% fertility on saints a bit harsh compared to the Norse gods.

I enjoy the mod though, adds some nice flavour and look forward to seeing how it develops to build deeper religious meaning, keep up the good work.

I have already added Hellenic patrons, and for now I have used Roman names because it suits vanilla better.

Yeah, I will probably tone it down to -10% in the next update. And thanks for trying it out.

Updated.

1.07
* Added patron angels for Zoroastrian characters
* Reduced fertility malus for Christian patrons to -10% (previously -20%)

Still looking for advice on how to approach Tengri and Islam, if anybody has any ideas.

Wow, this mod looks amazing…
Does the AI choose patrons as well? Or is it only the player?

It should at the same rate that Hindu AI characters do in vanilla 2.1.1, which is hardly at all in my experience. I'll try to increase the rate for the next update. And thanks - it's pretty simple really, but I like that it's adds a little flavour as well as gameplay.

Indeed - We have just all been sitting and waiting for someone who took the time and created this, so thank you for that. I will definatly keep my eye on this and see where it goes, and how you choose to update it, and of course try it out, whenever the patch is released...
