Hi everyone,
The goal of this mod is to add immersion and interactivity while executing an important prisoner. The first version of the mod is now available for download and I would appreciate your suggestions for what could be added to the mod in the future.
Have you ever had a prisoner in your dungeon that you really wanted to execute, but were annoyed by the fact that your subjects consider it tyrannical whereas in your mind you have a valid reason? Did you want to have a way to convince your subjects that your desire to execute the prisoner is justified? Then this mod is for you.

Summary of Features (implemented):
- Allows to Right-Click prisoners whom you are the liege of, and select the "Public Execution" decision. This will allow you to call a vote to execute the prisoner.
- All landed characters, Count-tier and above, in your sub-realm will vote. They can vote in favor, against or abstain. The results of the vote will be announced after 1 month.
- If you don't have enough votes in favor, you can try to convince the voters via 4 different options. If you do this, the new results will be announced 1 month later.
- If you have sufficient votes in favor, you can execute the prisoner without tyranny. Otherwise, the execution will be considered tyrannical.
- Three different options for execution: "Honorable Execution", "Execution with Torture" and "Execution with Humiliation and Torture".
Detailed Features and Mechanics (implemented):

Basic Voting Mechanics
-----------------------------
- In case the votes in favor and against are equal, your vote is tie-breaker.
- Votes of characters who are currently in prison will count as "Abstained".
- The accused prisoner himself is not considered a valid voter.
- Voters are more likely to vote in favor of the execution if the Voter:
- Is Cruel
- Is Impaler.
- Is Zealous OR Holy Warrior and the prisoner is of a different religion than the voter.
- Is the heir of the prisoner and the prisoner is landed.
- Is a foe/rival of the prisoner (will always vote in favor)
- Belongs to a religion with the Bloodthirsty Gods (ritual sacrifice) feature, or belongs to the Aztec religion.
- Voters are less likely to vote in favor of the execution if the Voter:
- Is a close relative of the prisoner.
- Belongs to the same dynasty as the prisoner.
- Likes the prisoner more than the ruler who called for the execution.
- Is Kind.
- Has the same religion as the prisoner.
- Has the same culture as the prisoner.
- Has the religion feature Peaceful.
- Is a Friend or Lover of the prisoner (will always vote against the execution).
- Voters are more likely to abstain from voting if the Voter:
- Is Just.
- Is Slothful.
Convincing the Voters
----------------------------
- If upon calling for a vote, the first results do not have sufficient votes for the execution, then the ruler can try to convince the voters via different methods:
- Reason with them (uses Diplomacy and Prestige).
- Try to discredit the prisoner (uses Intrigue and Prestige).
- Explain legal justification (uses Learning and Prestige).
- My word is reason enough! (uses Prestige only).
- A Convincing Score will be calculated:
- Prestige Convincing Score:
- Below 1500 prestige, it will contribute negatively to the score. With the negative modifier being larger the lower the prestige is.
- Having negative prestige will have a very large negative modifier to the score.
- Above 1500 prestige, the contribution to the score will be positive, with the contribution being bigger upon passing certain prestige thresholds.
- Uncrowned characters also suffer strong negative modifier to the score.
- Who crowned the character also matters, with being Crowned by the Pope providing a good positive modifier.
- Stat Convincing Score:
- If the chosen stat is 8 or above, it will contribute positively to the convincing score. Crossing certain threshold values above 8 will increase the score.
- Below 8 it will contribute negatively to the score. Going below certain thresholds will make it more negative.
- The "professional trait" in that chosen stat (e.g. Grey Eminence if using Diplomacy) will also affect the score. Tier 1 professional trait will contribute negatively, whereas Tier 3 and 4 professional traits will contribute positively.
- Certain character traits relevant to that stat (e.g. Gregarious if using Diplomacy) will also affect the score. Some traits affect the score positively and some affect it negatively.
- The Convincing Score is NOT visible to the player.
- Prestige Convincing Score:
- The voters respond to the convincing:
- Voters who already voted in favor of the execution the first time, cannot change their vote.
- Depending on the convincing score, the remaining voters will be more likely to vote Yes or No in the new voting.
- In addition to the above point, depending on the type of convincing used, some voters will be more likely to be affected by it and some will be affected negatively by it!
- For example, if the convincing type was Intrigue and the voter is "Trusting", then they will be affected more by it. However, if the voter is "Paranoid" then this convincing method will reduce their chances of voting Yes.
- If the Convincing process succeeds and the votes in favor now become sufficient for executing the prisoner, if the ruler decides to cancel the execution at this point, they have a chance to gain the Arbitrary trait.
Execution Method
-----------------------
- Regardless of whether the voters voted in favor or against, you can decide to proceed with the execution. However, if the votes in favor were not enough, this action will be considered tyrannical. Once the ruler has decided to proceed with the execution, three possible execution methods will be available:
- Honorable Execution
- Has a chance to give the Patient trait.
- Execution with Torture
- Has a chance to give the Cruel and Wroth traits.
- Execution with Humiliation and Torture
- Has a chance to give the Cruel and Wroth traits and a small chance to give the Proud trait.
- Cancel the Execution
- Canceling the execution at this point has a chance to give the Arbitrary trait, as it represents mood-swings in the ruler.
- Honorable Execution
- If the execution was unjust (not enough votes in favor), all realm characters will consider it tyrannical EXCEPT:
- Those who voted in favor AND don't have the Just trait.
- The family of the executed prisoner will be very upset, with closer family members being more upset. Furthermore, if the execution involved torture or humiliation, they will be even more upset. Exception: if they voted in favor of the execution AND don't have the Just trait.
- If the player has the Reaper's Due DLC:
- Honorable Execution can play the Hanging or Beheaded sounds.
- The other two execution methods can play the Crushing, Burning, Snake Pit, Boiled Alive, Impaling, Crucifixion, Garroting, Back Breaking or Breaking Upon Wheel sounds.
I need your suggestions regarding the following aspects of the mod:
- Balance:
- Base AI chance to vote "Yes" will be much lower than the base AI chance to vote "no". Voters can also abstain from voting.
- This chance will be modified based on voter traits, opinion, relationship and other factors.
- Perhaps tie the ability to call such a vote to certain laws or technology levels of the realm?
- Voter AI - What should it be based on?
- Current ideas: whether a voter (AI) will say yes or no will depend on a lot of factors. For example, the voter's traits (cruel, kind, impaler, slothful etc.), his opinion of the prisoner and the person who called for the execution, his relationship to the prisoner and the ruler, his potential gain from the prisoner's death (e.g. inheritance), his religion and culture and whether or not they match with the prisoner's etc.
- Try to convince the realm - Please suggest what things should this depend on?
- The ruler may try to convince the realm that the execution is justified. The success of this "convincing process" will depend on a lot of factors, such as the ruler's stats (especially diplomacy and intrigue) and traits (e.g. gregarious).
- Any more features?
- If you think any other relevant features should be added to the mod, please suggest in the comments below.
