this is simply AMAZING. I've been waiting for something like this since the release of the game...

Didn't you create anything for Lotharingia? AFAIK the nobles of middle francia offered the crown to east and west kings on various occasion, but I don't know if achieving this would be possible.

- If the Kingdom of France is weak, and if the Emperor has a high power, he can claim tutelage of this kingdom, as did the first Ottonians during the 10th century. Maybe the dream to unify all of the Charlemagne's empire will be yours ?

- Getting imperial insigna of Charlemagne gives a bonus. These imperial insigna are in Aix la Chapelle in 867, and in Paris from 978. The king of France can attack the owner of Aix la Chapelle with a specific Casus Belli, to get these relics. However, the old owners can attack you to take it back ! Historically, the possession of the imperial insigna was hotly contested. Lothar raided Paris in 978 to seize it. Ironically, it allowed the Capetians to end the will of the Empire to put the France under its guardianship.

Never heard anything of this - especially the Ottonians tutelage of France. Can you point me at some readings about it (even french if you don't know anything in english)?

and for translations...my French is quite rusty, but I can try to look after it. Which are the relevant file for translations?

Rex Teutonicum was more an insult than an actual title, meaning to say that the Emperor only had the right to rule the Germans in his own lands.

I believe that at least one emperor used the style Rex Romanorum ac Teutonicorum ("King of the Romans and Germans).

The Rex Romanorum / Rex Teutonicorum are, in reality, the same title!
It was a Pope to use "Rex Teutonicorum" as a dispregiactive to an Emperor that he not wanted to crown, the Emperor created an Anti Pope and was crowned... in Aachen some time after the Emperor and the Pope in Rome make peace but, as the Emperor liked to collect fancy title "Rex Teutonicorum" stuck together with all the others (Emperor Felix Semper August, Rex Romanorum, Rex Teutonicorum, Rex Italie, Rex Arlensis, ...) "why not?" they tough... the more the better, right?

So in game two - titular titles - should be present "Rex Romanorum" for the Emperor not crowned by the Pope and "Rex Teutonicorum" for the Emperor Elect and never crowned by the Poep (maybe out of game scope).

@Burgonde : Thanks you ! For Lotharingia, I did nothing, because the royal election of another king on the Carolingian space also exists for both Francies, and I think it is embodied pretty well in elective sucession.

For the tutelage, my main source is in french, sorry ! :

The file to translate is the RIRSEI.csv, if you want to look it.

The Rex teutonicorum is a little present in the sources, and it is often not appreciative as refusing to call imperator a Rex Romanorum not crowned by the Pope, while Rex Romanorum and his allies still tend to grant the imperial title.

thanks. I looked into the file and I think I can do something. I'm wondering if someone else already began the translation in order to avoid wasting time doubling already translated parts.

I separated the main text in themes, and some have already started work. Therefore chosen the theme that appeals to you (and that remains to be!) and i send you the text.

Excellent livre :)

So does this mod just make it so that the white people of Europe are overpowered? As far as I can tell, that's literally all it does. If you're going to do a historical overhaul mod then you should probably devote at least a little time to some of the most important polities of this era; the large, Islamic kingdoms in the middle east and the steppe khanates in central Asia. When I read the description for this mod, I expected something that would be all-encompassing and make the entirety of the map more interesting; instead, it is just one more fanboy mod about the Romans. Have you at least considered expanding the scope of the mod to encompass at least the very important Islamic states like the Abbasids or Seljuqs?

Well, if a mod does something then I'm going to call the mod out on what it does. As it is, that is literally what the mod does; it makes most western Europeans significantly stronger than everybody else. That's just a function of how the mod is right now.

A mod about Europe (titled and accented in a historic Pan-European language) is focused on the continent?! DEAR MARX THE INHUMANITY! CALL TUMBLR!!!

In which ways exactly is Latin, a language spoken about equally in the Middle East and Western Europe, a pan European language when only the uh western europeans spoke it, and the majority of them very rarely spoke it? I'm concerned with game balance, and this mod is hilariously bad at game balance; furthermore, how can you accurately model Europe AT ALL without also modeling the Middle East just as accurately? The two are so intertwined and interconnected at this point in history that not modeling Muslims as well as Christians weakens significantly the goal of the mod; you can't model the Byzantines (post Heraclius it is in no way Roman and is quite Greek) without the Seljuqs or the Abbasids; you can't model the Jiménez without the Ummayads; they just aren't good representations without the other.

Read the mod description and mechanics and the overwhelming favorable reaction to it, and if you're still going to whine, why don't you make a compatible Afro-Muslim mod yourself? You have all the resources you need.

Because this forum is truly the best location for getting actual critiques on a mod. Just because people say something is good doesn't mean its not actually awful; look at how many people liked Steppe Wolfe. I'm simply giving advice and critiquing what I feel is the worst part of the mod; I really dont care what the hordes of crazy Byzantine fanboys have to say about a mod, I'll give my opinion and try to make the mod enjoyable for everyone, not just those who seek to recreate the roman empire in every game.

1. You're the only "everyone" speaking out here.
2. That's not this mod is about. Learn to read.
3. You clearly have too much desert and jungle on the mind so I'm just going to leave you to whine and complain until the cows come home and no one listens.

That discussion about a mod centered around Western Europe is not needed, the authour is planning a muslim overhaul for his next big update. The Ummayads, the Abbasidsm, the Seljuks and all the others are going to be covered, so no need to complain. The authour is also planning, probably later, to do stuff for the steppes too. ;) If you have any ideas for the mod's muslim update feel free to post them here, I'm sure the authour will listen to you and your opinion.
