What models will require 'infanterie' or 'Guards' in their name? :)

Thanks :) No more " I promise :eek:o
As for infanterie - see for example MODEL_FRA_0_0 in Vanilla HOI models.csv

MODELS _Great Power_0_0 to 3_0 and 5_0 to 8_0 ;)

I'm going to assume that Allenby has the 'final' version of this file?

If so, would you mind sending it off to me so I can upload a proper 1.02b version? I suppose if it isn't quite done, that isn't a big deal, really. There are probably several things that aren't quite done...

I've got a comprehensive unitnames.csv list (for land units) which includes many original, and even more "fantasy" names for all countries that will ever appear in-game.

I've managed to do air and tank unit names, a few additional ship names and one or two extra infantry and cavalry unit names. If you hand the file to me, I shall include them and then send them to be put into the next version. :)

Navy models update

Reworked the Navy models. Look into the respective entries in this thread. Now they include all the minor navies. Corrected the Torpedo boat error. Will send the revised file soon by e-mail.

Dibo, I was taking a look at the models.csv in 1.02b. First some nitpicking: I don't know what source you got the names of the portuguese ships from, but it sure as hell wasn't portuguese :). 20_0;Makao-Tete would be Macau-Tete, I guess. As for 20_1;Doru-Teju, that would be Douro-Tejo.

Now for other, more important stuff on the models. The basic scout fighter models could be, IMO: ENG - AirCo DH2; FRA - Nieuport 11; GER - Fokker EIII. Although the ENG and FRA ones don't use synch MGs, which is a requirement for the model, the Fokker was the first plane to use the synch'd MG, and the DH2 and Nie 11 were the Entente planes that stopped the Fokker scourge.

Corrected :)
I sure don't speak Portuguese for that matter :)
Could you check the other respective Protuguese names in this thread (and not in 1.02, as the Models.csv there is no longer relevant)? I have changed it a lot
Could you help me with the planes?
Any help will be appreciated :)

I'd just like to point out that model 1 cruisers are now Armoured Cruisers and that model 2 cruisers are now Light Cruisers, and I think that the models.csv files may have to be altered accordingly. :)

So far completed plane models for Austria-Hungary, Russia, USA, Italy and Britain. Any comments?

You managed to find the most obscure planes of the war. :) I don't know about some of those, for example, most of the americans never went past prototype. And the USA models shows too little french influence. After all the americans used mostly french aircraft during the war. In the ENG entries, were the Martinsyde F.4 and F.6 both nicknamed "Buzzard"?

My main objection is not your fault, our tech tree cuts off too soon, and the advanced models are just too similar to the improved ones. We should have a couple of post-war tiers of models. Even if they got names like "basic post-war" and "early interwar". As it is now, either the tech tree takes way too long to develop and you reach 1918 tech levels in 1924, or you simply run out of aircraft research for half the mod period.

Part of the problem here is that aircraft development pretty much ground to a halt after WW1, and there were no new models being developed that were significantly different to WW1 planes until the early 1930s. It wasn't like WW2 where the Cold War led to continued advancements into jets, etc.

The Ottoman Guard units should be named Janissary divisions.

While the Janissary system was virtually dead at the time of the war, the name still implied highly trained and loyal troops. Janissaries being troops created from a tax, that took a certain portion of the populace in a town (usually small) and train them in combat and indoctrinate them so that they would be loyal beyond all doubt of command.

Thus- the Ottoman guard divisions should be named "Janissary Divisions"
