Guys, I am having problem with the appointment of new Head of States in election events. When I appoint new HoS, sometimes another person is appointed instead of the one I determined in the event. Does anyone have an idea about this ? I remember this also being problem in some events in MDS 1.6.


To be more precise, the problem is like that :

Why would Nicolas Sarkozy be no longer availble?

I am trying to figure out the problem, that's there only for this reason. For example, this is also the case in 2007 French elections where Chirac is made available no longer. I think this is due to something about Head of State, when you just use Head of State = blabla command, the game doesn't appoint the correct minister sometimes.
 
I think I understood the problem.

In your screenshot, you can read "Dominique Strauss-Kuhn is no longer available". When you kill a minister like that, the engine kills ALL the ministers of the same name for that country. So you can't appoint him as HoS because you killed him in the event.

But their IDs are different, does engine kill ministers by name ?
 
Yes.

For example, Mussolini can be HoS, HoG and Foreign minister. However, if you kill one of them by event (using the id of the Foreign Minister for example), then all the ministers with the same name "Benito Mussolini" will be killed as well.

How long can a name be? Because a easy way around this is to add their titles to their names. Example Minister Mussolini, Premier Mussolini or President. If you don't have room add a two letter code in front of all of their names.

E.g. HoS John Doe has an id = 100500 and HoG John Doe has an id = 100501.
Now you kill the HoS ( command = { type = sleepminister which = 100500 } ).
However, the HoG will stay alive.

100500 is not the same as 100501 even if the names are identical.

Anyway, Vaximillian, I didn't say that the engine kills a name. It kills an id, but then checks for minister with the same name. And Obviously "Benito Mussolini", "Mr. Mussolini" and "Benito I" are all different names.

I tested it, engine kills all the same names. It is good when you think minister is dead, then he won't be available for good, but it doesn't consider the position changes. Anyway, I may change names of ministers or I can just leave them
