and worst of all, Falalalalan has dissapeared! :(

It was a while ago but I think it happened when I installed the betas. Before, I had music while playing with the CD and no music without CD. I can hear the other sounds so it cant be that I have to turn up the volume at my speakers  ;)

I have Win ME, latest beta, scandinavian version of the game. I use one flag/shield mod and have done for long but nothing else. I usually play without CD but both with and without it doesnt work. What can I do? :(

Run eu2config, and make sure music is turn on.

Try EU2_Settings.exe

Have you looked to see if the music files are in the music folders?

And is there a text file named 14?

With the following info:

Have you checked that no other application or service is currently using the music playback service of directX? If that is the case, it can be the explanation of why you cannot hear any music.

Not all soundcards and drivers support multiple music streams concurrently.

Good point, sometimes I do not think of the obvious. :)

Another thing to check is that when you look at your ingame options, what volume level do you have your music set to.
Since SFX and music have different volume controls when in game.

how do I do this?

no Castellon, the music volume is at 99, same as SFX

That will involve a bit of trial and error, I'm afraid.

For example, is the Windows Media player running (or WinAmp, or Apple Quicktime, or something like that).

You can check the running apps/processes through the task manager (just press <ctrl><alt><del> to access it). That too might give some information.

Also, use DxDiag to check if your direct X does not have a problem somewhere. At the very least it contains a Music tab page, where you can test if your current configuration can play music at all.

when I tested "SB Live! MIDI UART" it asked me if I could hear any music but I could not. Is this the one EU2 uses?
The others worked fine.

Also, when I started DxDiag I got a message saying "Direct X sound may not have worked correctly last time. Do you want to skip it this time? "Yes" "no""

I got the same message for Direct X video

I pressed first yes nothing happened, then no and now I dont get the message anymore. The translation may not be exact cause I have the swedish version

What version of DirectX are you running?

Well, make sure you do nor have a beta version of 9. There were a lot out there, and they were buggy.

I would suggest that you DL the latest copy you can find of 9, then reinstall it.

Seams your DirectX is Fubar. :(
