I just downloaded HIP to look at the files, and history data seems to be the least of the issues. There are a number of conflicts, depending on the modules used, that would be more complicated to resolve. Most of these need to be merged manually. Additionally, due to the modular nature of HIP, I couldn't simply maintain 2 versions - I'd need a base version and a compatibility patch for each separate module, which would need updated each time HIP updates.

The EMF module seems to have the most extensive conflicts, though CPRPlus would need graphics changes to merge the conflicts, which would then require changes to other files to address new indexing created as a result. SWMH also has conflicts in several places, including some graphical ones.

ouch that sucks but yea if your going to do that well the team anyway you should make it in to a all in one thing to make it easy to update in one go then in multiple peaces.

That much be from something other than the PNG errors. I do see an "invalid ironman error" and some errors with mass_embark in an unknown file.

Is there something that reliably triggers the crash, and if so, can you post your save?
If f you can't reliably recreate it, it might not be worth posting the save until after the next version, since I'll be testing on that.

No, not reliably.

Edit: Sorry about not giving you much to work with previously.

What happens is that several times during my current play the game simply closes (not even a crash message). The error log always contains the errors I have posted, although I can't be sure if those entries are related to the game closing. When I reload the last autosave I can continue past the point of the crash.
It might be something on my side as strangely this did not happen in previous playthroughs with the same mod version.
After Easter when I am back home I will verify my files and reinstall the mod to make sure (I did a small modification by lowering the fertility of dragons as otherwise my court becomes bloated rather fast. That should not have caused any problems but you never know).

Another thing I noticed, there seems to be a problem with the magic education focus icon. It does not display correctly when opening the character screen of a child who has it. Instead a other icon like Seduction or Hunting is shown. I will provide a screenshot when I am back.

Dev Diary 7: 2.0.2 Patch Notes
While I was originally planning to hold off and made a more in-depth patch with more new features, I've made some bug fixes that are rather important and it seemed better not to delay them. I know I said that the zombie overhaul would be in the next patch, but I'll need to amend that to the zombie overhaul being in 2.1

This does contain some new features that aren't significant enough to warrant their own dev diary, but should be addressed

Giants
Giants now have two additional sets of traits:
Size: As a giant ages, their size will increase, granting them additional combat skill, health, martial, siege bonuses, and morale offensive
Subrace - Giants following certain religions or cultures may be born as a Bergrisar (Hill Giant), Hrimthursar (Frost Giant), or Eldjotnar (Fire Giant). What subrace they have is influenced by their parents and the season of their birth. Currently these just adjust some stats, but they are planned to have a greater impact in the future

Dragons
Dragons now have an option to personally attack one of their rivals and attempt to steal a portion of their gold, and possibly an artifact. This isn't as in-depth as the werewolf challenge, working entirely behind the scenes, though success is determined by the same traits and stats. Be warned that losing an attack may have serious repercussions.

Merchant Republics
Patricians with 200 gold may set aside money for loans. Other rulers nearby may then borrow money from that, paying it back in installments. This opens up opportunities to borrow money for religions which can't interact with the Jews, as well as being a passive form of income for those interested. It's not without risk, however - some people may try to refuse repayment and need more... aggressive forms of collection.


This update should hopefully also improve stability at the TOG start date, though I can't be sure as I haven't been experiencing the reported crashes on my machine.

Nice. I will start a new game tomorrow to see what happens.

A few things I noticed:

1. Are you sure that the seduction by Zeus is working correctly? As far as I can see you force Zeus to use the seduction focus. But that focus has an AI filter of "realm", meaning he would only seduce members of his court. That results in a horde of inbred children, but no demi-god characters outside of Olympus (or Asgard, although most gods in Asgrad have murdered each other after some time by executing or plots).

2. As far as I understand diseases the main threat of diseases is the reduced health. But with so many characters receiving health buffs diseases kinda stop to be much of an issue, especially when you play a dragon etc. Do you have any plans of upgrading diseases, at least the major ones, to have an extra strong effect on high health races or maybe even introduce new diseases which have a mild effect on normal humans but are much more severe for mythological creatures?

Have you removed the Mythos start date? It doesn't appear in my selection.

When I start an Old God Game I get an about 500KB error log about missing textures (mostly dragons) and some other stuff and many portraits are missing in the game. Either there was some error when downloading the mod (although I did delete it an un/resubscribe several times) or something is really wrong with that update.

About the diseases, simply increasing the health loss would of course not work as normal humans would die in droves if they were made stronger.
What would work is that some diseases give an additional trait/modifier with even more health loss based on a racial trait.
For example the bubonic plague would work like normal for humans, but dragons would get a an additional triggered effect for another -6 health.

Or there are new diseases which give only - 0.5 health by default but specific races get a modifier "vulnerable to <disease name> for a lot more health loss.

The same applies to other sources of health loss like starving while in seclusion or sickly infants which is trivial for non-human characters.

  • Rolling back to the png implementation for dragons works. Probably just an issue with transparency in the tga
  • That Olympus isn't created is because the easter egg character has the same ID as Chronos which causes the set up event to somehow fail
  • In mythos_governments.gfx it still looks for png instead of tga for feudal
  • Several Unknown effect-type errors, sadly without indication where
The rest of the error after the fixes look minor or graphical.

What I did about Zeus was to simply create a copy of seduce_decision, changed the ai_target_filter to all and added trait = god and is_female = no to from_potential
I also added NOT = { trait = god } to potential.

That would allow any male god with the seduction focus to seduce any woman in the world. In my game it seems to work as there are several demi-gods around with Zeus as father. Maybe even a bit too many. It is a bit crude and can of course be refined more. It also tends to create several gods in one place before Zeus moves on.

Looks like the mod was set to hidden, like I suspected. I'll need to keep that in mind for future updates, since that seems to happen automatically.

The white boxes are from the tgas not having proper transparency, which is odd since I know I fixed it before and tested it. I must have done something stupid, like overwrite the new files with the old ones instead of vise-verse.
I have also fixed the draconic feudal icon.
I have updated the mod in my post and on Steam with those changes

The missing Olympus thing, I was aware of and was going to look into today - good catch on that. I didn't want to delay the more critical fixes for it.
I'll need to come up with a better way of getting Zeus to seduce outside of his court, or do you fix but find a way to lower his fertility or increase Hera's aggression against Zeus' lovers and bastards.
This and the other errors in the log will wait for another bugfix patch, since they aren't too critical. Hopefully in the next week or so.
 
Loaded it from steam and now the portraits are correct. Still no Olympus though, but that is hardly gamebreaking.

Rather crude as I mainly just copied the original seduction decision and added a few more limits. Also the female paths are still in despite it being male only.

The result is that in 917, 50 years after the start, 6 demi-gods exist, 1 known to be the child of Zeus, the rest with unknown fathers as the seduced woman was not married or unknown bastards.

There does seem to be something wrong with the dragon rivalry though. When I choose to pay off a challanger I only lose 50 prestige but no gold even when I have more than 1k.
And I think even a loss or win only changes prestige but no gold. So it seems local_gold is not working.

I have put in a fix for Olympus on my end and intend to test it tonight, though release might wait until I find and fix more bugs. I didn't want to make the portrait fix wait.
I'll double-check the dragon raiding. It's quite possible I missed something with the variables.

I'll also need to look in to why some of those young demi-gods are infertile.
 
I also think that the dragon rivalries, especially the death chance is way, way out of hand. Pretty much every month something reverts back to me as characters keep dieing through rivalry battles before they even have a chance to sire an heir. I also have to constantly remarry courtiers. Its extremely tedious. And unless I pay off every attacker I am unlikely to even reach the 50s. And I do not even own England yet. As it is now I consider dragons to be unplayable, not because of bugs but because you are interrupted every few minutes because someone died again.
It can also really screw you over when your heirs die in droves in such battles.

Edit: And I think the icon for the dragon raider special troops is missing, but I have to check if that isn't my mistake

Edit2: There also seems to be something wrong with the money lending events.
I lent money from my vassal merchant house. When it was due I did not have enough money to repay it and the only option I could take was to run with the money. Yet in the intrigue menu I still have the "Repay loan early" option which, when I press it does nothing. And the "Run with money" modifier never expires so I do not see any way to get rid of it.

By the way, do you have a bug tracker or something where I should report this?

And another bug (didn't want to edit the above post even more in case you have already read it)

In a draconian great holy war you get spammed by the "Claw of Fafnir" popup every few days. Seems like there is a trigger missing which checks if you already have that trait.
 
Tested out the giants a bit. I like the different giant races being a thing, adds a bit of variety to them. Didn't see much in the way of events or decisions, but I never managed to reform the Jotnar faith so maybe it's tied into that.

The Size thing is a neat idea, quite like that. I've always been a fan of the 'older= more powerful' fantasy trope. That said I believe the trigger for updating the sizes is bugged, they appear to be set at the beginning of the game and then never increase. New giant children don't seem to gain the trait either. However I tried the 'add_trait giant' console command on some older fellow, and it actually did set his size appropriate to his age. Rather odd.

Really cool mod bud, glad you continued it.
 
Giants don't really have any events yet - I plan to add some, but wanted to get the bugfixes out first.

There may be a year or so delay on updating sizes, but if it's more than that I'll need to check if something is wrong. Children are born without a size trait (rank 1 starts at 16 years), so if it isn't updating, they won't get it. I'll have to look in to it not updating.

EDIT: I found why the size isn't updating. I just need to test it, then it should be in the next update
